I agree with abdulla You can only fit the roman numeral 3 times.

Great tool!

Great, best converter!!! of all types...

You really helped me with my assessment

I ❤ This App X out of X (10 out of 10)

Quiz here! Which has more letters, 35 or 27?

I have 7 pages of roman numerals and I'm ten this really helps totally recommend.

This helped me a lot with my homework I'm finally smart again the bullies say I'm dumb I'm going to get all right on my homework yay.

What is the significance of the comma's and dots between letters? i.e. M,DCCC.XLV.

I want to learn how to read Roman numerals alphabet

This is very helpful. I have 9 pages of Roman Numeral conversions for homework and thankfully found this site!

Wonderful converter. I have a Scottish publication date of MCMXXV99. What does the 99 indicate - 9 September 1925 ??

XXIV.I.MMIII is how you would write that.

This was very educative for me,I learn some new things that I never learn before

We can't repeat (M, X, |, or V) more than 3

Generally speaking very Good to know such Roman Numbers especially as time and infinity we are drawing closer climate change and numbers of all kinds Maths and time combine Eternity! Planets forces of life and Space high far away! BC-AD tIme in the Creators hands.

This is going well, but 99999 is not [M repeated 99 times]CMXCIX, It can just be [X with a dash][C with a dash]M[X with a dash]CMXCIX. Roman numerals can't be repeated more than 3 times. Other than that, it deserves a VIII out of X! (8 out of 10)

I can read Roman Numerals but sometimes I get messy with the rules because I don’t know the rules I thought I did but I don’t. Not fully. Such as the number 49. I thought take L = 50 and l = 1 And say lL I don’t know why this is wrong. I can write it this way as well.XLIX. Why is the layer the inky right way? What rule am I missing that I can’t seem to find anywhere? Cheers

Seems like 490 should be XD, but the correct conversion here is CDXC. Hmm. And 990 should similarly be XM, but the correct answer here is CMXC. This must violate rules of conservation, no? Why would one use four numerals when one could use two? Please clarify. Thanks.

This helped me a lot shout out to the person who created this website DUBS IN CHAT

for 4000 and over we need I V X L C D and M with a dash over it for example 15364 should be X-V-CCCLXIV instead of MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMCCCLXIV

This is very helpful, thank you. Whoever made this site deserves a reward- like a lifetime supply of their favorite thing or something.

DCCCCL is not a valid Roman numeral

4000 is not = MMMM A number can't be repeated 3 times in a row

love this app it helps me a lot

An error on posting Anonymous - 2022-05-11 02:19:34: The posting listed "...VI=4, V=5, VI=6..." Seems to be merely a typo. We know IV=4. Speaking of the number four: my Latin professor said "IIII" was in common usage, just as was the language we refer to as Vulgar Latin ("vulgar," meaning "of the common people" as opposed to Classical Latin, used by scholarly, educated, elite citizenry).

The Roman numeral ll is not a valid representation for number one hundred (the correct Roman numeral is C)

Here are some more tips and tricks. If the bigger number comes first you add. For example VI is 6 because 5 + 1 = 6 But if the lower number comes first you subtract. But you subtract the bigger number to the smaller number. For example IV is four because 5 - 1 = 4. You don't do 1 - 5 = -4 The same rule applies to bigger numbers like 40 and 90. 40 would be XL not XXXX because 50 - 10 = 40 and XC is 90 and not LXXXX because 100 - 10 = 90

This might help you. I = 1 II = 2 III = 3 VI = 4 V = 5 VI = 6 VII = 7 VIII = 8 IX = 9 X = 10 L = 50 C = 100 D = 500 M = 1000 The line above the number means to multiply by 1000 so V with a line above it would be 5,000 and M with a line above it would be 1000000

2013 = MMXIII

Love ❤️ the app

1980 = MCMLXXX

110 = CX LOL

2020 = MMXX

123 = CXXIII

I love math! So many numbers! So many Roman numerals!

2014 = MMXIV

IIII = Invalid

I = 1 - V = 5 - X = 10 - L = 50 - C = 100 - D = 500 - M = 1000

Very easy thanks for help me

For those asking about IIII for 4 rather than IV, the only place you will (or should) see IIII is on a clock. Early clock makes thought using IV made the clock face look unbalanced. The 4 & 8 are both 2 places from the bottom. The 8, written as VIII, and IV looked unbalanced (due to the angle of the numbers and their width). So they wrote the 4 as IIII.

How do I write 500 million in Roman numerals? I tried online sites but they proclaim its invalid! They only go up to 3,999,999. I thought it would be D(M), with (M) being 1 million.

Number 4 is written as a numeral as: IV and not IIII (though the IIII form circulated as an additive form); Number 5 is written as a numeral as: V and not IIIII; Number 10 will be written as: X and not VV, nor VIIIII; Number 100 will be written as: C and not LL, nor LXXXXX, nor XXXXXXXXXX.

29=XXIX not XXVIIII

actually, IIII is valid. The practice of subtracting from a base didn't come about until later. For example, if you are ever in Rome, and get to vist the colliseum, you'll see four written that way.

IIII is invalid

Why is 4000 MMMM, it is _VM (_ means line above) Anyway, XIV/XVII rate Thx at 7 20 pm 16 3 2022 (i cant use translator while typing)
