Entry Requirements

Entry onto a postgraduate course at King’s is subject to academic entry criteria. For a taught master’s degree, applicants will typically need a 2:1 graded bachelor’s degree or international equivalent (for example, a GPA 3.3 or more). Applicants for research degrees and PhDs will usually need to demonstrate completion of a master’s degree and good grades. Professional experience may be required in some cases. 

For example, applicants for the MSc in Aesthetic Dentistry or MClinDent in Fixed & Removable Prosthodontics will need to have a dental qualification that is accepted by the college, as well as being actively employed in a dental care environment such as a dental practice, school or hospital. 

Applicants for the MA in European Union Law will need to demonstrate achievement of a 2:1 or higher at undergraduate level in law, or a related subject. Alternatively, qualified barristers or solicitors will be eligible for this course. Consideration of work history or other relevant experience may be considered during the application process. 

Entry criteria for postgraduate courses can vary, so students should check the relevant course page on the King’s College website before applying.

King’s College London was founded in 1829 and is one of the top 10 universities in the United Kingdom according to latest QS World University Rankings.  It has nine academic schools of Arts & Humanities, Biomedical Sciences, Dental Institute, Institute of Psychiatry, Law, Medicine, Natural & Mathematical Sciences, Nursing & Midwifery and Social Science & Public Policy. It offers a valuable opportunity for students to pursue research in a wide range of disciplines as well as in topics that invite interdisciplinary and cross-cultural approaches at two premier universities in Asia and Europe.

Programme Features

Students admitted to the joint PhD programmes will:

  • be registered as full-time students at both universities and be able to enjoy their full range of academic and various facilities;
  • be guided in their work by faculty members from both universities, and be examined to the standards of both; and
  • normally split their time of study equally between the two universities and spend the last 6 months of study in the home university.
  • Interested applicants should first contact the Faculty concerned on available supervisors and subject areas

Fees and Scholarships 

Joint PhD candidates will pay tuition fees to the admitting university for the whole period of candidature.  Applicants applying through the University of Hong Kong can apply for Postgraduate Scholarships .  Candidates who have outstanding academic performance or proven research records may apply for the HKU Presidential PhD Scholarship  and Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme .    Students who pursue a joint PhD degree with King’s in Integrative Medicine may apply for the HKU Postgraduate Fellowships in Integrative Medicine . The Fellowships, offered by the LKS Faculty of Medicine, give preference to students enrolled in the HKU-King's College London Joint PhD programme with HKU being the home institution.  For enquiries about the Fellowships, please contact the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine directly.   

Award of Degree

Upon successful completion of the programme, a student will be conferred a PhD degree jointly awarded by the University of Hong Kong and the King’s College London.

Regardless of your nursing experience, King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., offers three pathways to get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and boost your career.

For high school students

  • Our 1+2+1 Dual Degrees in Nursing Program is the only one in the region that makes you eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) at the end of the third year. As a result, you can jump start your career by working part-time as an RN during your senior year while taking your remaining courses online.
  • Our partnership with Luzerne County Community College (LCCC) ensures you'll have access to state-of-the-art facilities and a variety of clinical settings, including community health agencies, clinics, hospitals, and nursing homes.
  • Our program has proven success for our students. In fact, students enrolled in our 1+2+1 program achieved a 100 percent pass rate on NCLEX-RN at the end of their third year.

For registered nurses with a diploma or associate degree

  • Our RN to BS Program allows you to attain bachelor's degree in as little as one year with qualifying prequisites.
  • Nursing courses are 100% online

For students who have a non-nursing bachelor's degree

  • Our one-year Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing Hybrid program that allows you to take the NCLEX-RN test and begin working as registered nurses in just one year.

Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing Hybrid Program

Program description, admission criteria.

For our nursing program, we maintain high academic standards. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 for a science degree and 3.2 for a non-science degree. Applicants who have been enrolled and were unsuccessful in a precious nursing program will not be considered for admission.   

Complete 4 prerequisite science courses and 10 core courses before the program starts.

1+2+1 Nursing Program

To be eligible for the King's and LCCC nursing 1+2+1 (dual degree nursing program), students must meet the following minimum admission requirements:

  • C or better Algebra II/Trigonometry level
  • C or better in Chemistry
  • C or better in Biology
  • A minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.75
  • Endorsement of his/her high school
  • Students must not have been suspended or dismissed for any reason.
  • Candidates must pass the TOEFL exam with a 90% or better if English is not their native language. The passing score on the TOEFL will vary depending on the type of exam you take (internet based, computer based, or paper and pencil). TOEFL scores must be submitted within the application deadline. If you have a bachelor's degree from a U.S. college or university, you do not need to take the TOEFL

To move into year two of the BS dual degree program and begin the LCCC clinical phase, students must:

  • Pass the TEAS exam by December 1st of their first year
  • Achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 by the end of their first Fall semester
  • Secure admission to the LCCC program by December 20th
  • Meet the Health Science Admissions Background

1+2+1 nursing program students should verify they've met all criteria by March 15 of their first year. All students admitted to the program who meet the matriculation requirements will be permitted to continue into the LCCC phase of the nursing program.

Transfer students must fill out an Application for Internal Transfer or Change of Major. Students must meet all high school criteria and have a college GPA of 2.75. Admission is competitive and based on available seats.

Applicants are considered on an on-going basis. In addition to successful completion of course work, the following are required for admission:

The Foundation of the National Nurses' Association, Inc.

Open to all currently enrolled nursing students across the country, the Undergraduate Scholarship Program awards scholarship funds based on a set of criteria established by the sponsor of the scholarship. These scholarships typically reflect a specific area of specialization within the nursing profession such as oncology, critical care, or emergency nursing or a certain population of the nursing profession that is often underrepresented.
