How to Write a Doctoral Admissions Essay

Writing your doctoral admissions essay may feel like a daunting task. Here are the basic elements required, followed by some doctoral admissions essay tips.

Whether you are applying for study in Touro University Worldwide’s Business Management , Human and Organizational Psychology , Physician Assistant , or Business Administration program, there are three basic components required for an acceptable doctoral admission essay:

  • Career plan
  • Goals for pursuing a doctorate at Touro University Worldwide

With this basic essay structure in mind, let’s take a deeper dive into each element and how to craft and submit your essay.

Writing a Great Doctoral Admissions Essay

Each of the previously mentioned elements builds on the other to create a solid foundation for defining who you are, your experience and interests, and how you will use the doctoral program to advance your career and research goals.

Taken in a thoughtful, step-by-step approach, the essay you write will help clarify your own intellectual and career ambitions as well as demonstrate to Touro University Worldwide why you are a good candidate for the doctoral program.

Biographical component:

This section should include prior learning, both formal and informal. Describe the type of learning experiences you’ve had and the outcomes of your study. Include relevant work experience and any previous scholarly research.

Your personal story should highlight your talents, passion, motivation, and general career goals. How does doctoral study dovetail with your personal narrative?

Career plan component:

This section is used to describe your career plan in detail. Explain how pursuing the doctoral program integrates with your background and experience. How will these combined elements further your career goals?

Doctoral program goals:

Start with why you are pursuing doctoral study. Discuss the reasons you’ve selected Touro University Worldwide’s doctoral program as opposed to any other such programs. Make sure to demonstrate your understanding of the requirements for doctoral study at Touro University Worldwide.

Additionally, describe what goals you anticipate achieving through completion of the doctoral program. Discuss your intellectual curiosity and interest in research. Talk about your particular strengths, experiential and intellectual insights, as well as skills you want to develop further. List potential ideas for your dissertation or research project.

Finally, show how all this makes you uniquely suited for study at Touro University Worldwide.

Doctoral Admissions Essay Tips

Expect to write at least three drafts of your essay: (1) rough draft, proofread, and edit; (2) revised draft, proofread and edit; and (3) final draft, proofread and submit. Even the best writers are their own worst editors. After carefully reading your essay, try to have someone else read it before submitting the final draft.

Your doctoral admissions essay should be a balance of information and compelling biographical narrative. The essay is a reflection of who you are and how you think, so make sure to be organized, writing with clarity and concision.

Finally, when submitting your essay, include a cover letter, title the essay “Doctoral Admission Essay,” provide the date of submission, and address the packaged documents to Touro University Worldwide.

Applying for doctoral study is an exciting step in your career and intellectual life. Adhering to the guidelines and tips outlined here will ensure a rewarding experience as you embark on this worthwhile journey.

Essay on Doctors Day

National Doctors Day is celebrated in India every year on 1 July in honour of the contributions of physicians to the lives of individuals and communities. This essay on Doctors Day aims to explore the importance of the day and the crucial role they play in Indian society.

Table of Contents

  • 1 Origin and Significance of Doctors Day
  • 2 The Evolving Role of Doctors in Indian Society
  • 3 Celebrating Doctors Day: Ideas and Initiatives
  • 4 The Future of Medicine and Doctors in India
  • 5 Conclusion

Origin and Significance of Doctors Day

The roots of Doctors Day in India can be traced back to the life and legacy of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, who was an excellent physician and second chief minister of West Bengal.

He worked actively to help the people as a doctor and a public servant. His selfless life inspires us to honor all the doctors on this auspicious day.

The Evolving Role of Doctors in Indian Society

The role of doctors can be traced back to Indian society, which has undergone a significant transformation over the centuries. From the practising of Ayurveda by the Vaidyas to the physicians armed with allopathy and the use of new technologies, the journey of medical practice is certainly fascinating. This incredible journey further involves the study of evolution and adaptation.

In ancient times, the healers were figured as divine figures who possessed the knowledge to cure the illness and head off the diseases. The traditional systems of medicine healing ailments such as Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani were deeply rooted in the cultural learnings of India.

On entering the modern era, western medical practices spread roots and led to a mix of traditional as well as medicine. These mixed practices helped in curing the wounds and sickness of the people of India and took care of their healthcare.

With the development of practicing medicine in society, the role of doctors has also seen a drastic change. While people respect them for their knowledge and skills, the rise of the commercialization of healthcare and some sad, occasional examples of unfortunate incidents have led to more complex relationships between doctors and patients. Some of the challenges faced by doctors in the present era are as follows:

  • Loads of responsibilities for patients, which is overburden in public hospitals.
  • Long working hours are seen to lead to burnout.
  • The constant need to update their medical knowledge in a changing and updated environment.
  • Dealing with the rising incidents of aggression and violence by people against healthcare workers.
  • Filling the gap between the urban-rural division of healthcare and quality access.

Despite the above challenges, the doctors keep on continuing to serve the patients with dedication and are often seen going beyond their official call of duty to ensure the well-being of their patients.

Celebrating Doctors Day: Ideas and Initiatives

In India National Doctors Day is celebrated for honouring medical professionals and raising awareness about their contributions. Some other ways to celebrate the day include the following:

1. Recognition of Government: On this auspicious day, the Government of India often issues special stamps or coins. Special awards are presented to doctors who have made exceptional contributions to the field of medicine or public health.

2. Celebration in the institution: Many hospitals and medical institutions organize felicitation ceremonies, seminars, and learning workshops to celebrate the day. These events often focus on both celebrating the achievements as well as discussing the challenges faced by doctors in the medical field.

3. Initiatives by Communities: Many communities organize health camps, blood donations, and free medical checkups on this day. Doctors also volunteer their time and expertise to add value to the day.

4. Social Media Campaigns: Social media is yet another popular platform for expressing gratitude to doctors. Many hashtags like #NationalDoctorsDay trend on social media platforms with people sharing their stories of positive experiences with doctors.

The Future of Medicine and Doctors in India

Advances in telemedicine, artificial intelligence in healthcare, and personalized medicine make the future of medicine in India look promising. However, there is an urgent need to increase the number of doctors and improve health care, especially in rural areas.

Physicians have an important role to play in maintaining the health and well-being of our society. As we celebrate Doctors’ Day, let us recognize their valuable contributions and support programs that improve their working conditions and overall healthcare in India.

Ans: Doctor’s Day is celebrated on July 1st every year. The day leveraged the doctors’ hard work and dedication to keeping people healthy.

Ans: One can thank their doctor by writing a small thank note, giving a useful gift, or simply saying “thank you.”

Ans: Doctors’ Day is important for us because it reminds us of the important role of doctors and what role do they play in our lives. It also encourages us to appreciate the efforts of doctors in caring for patients.

How to Write a Two Page Essay Quickly

Last Updated: March 28, 2023 Fact Checked

This article was co-authored by Megan Morgan, PhD . Megan Morgan is a Graduate Program Academic Advisor in the School of Public & International Affairs at the University of Georgia. She earned her PhD in English from the University of Georgia in 2015. There are 9 references cited in this article, which can be found at the bottom of the page. This article has been fact-checked, ensuring the accuracy of any cited facts and confirming the authority of its sources. This article has been viewed 100,742 times.

Writing a two page essay can be a daunting task. After all, writing takes specific skills and a lot of practice. If you are well-organized and have a specific plan, it can be done both successfully and quickly. College students, high school students, and people in most professions have to write from time to time (or every day). For many people, writing can be stressful. It helps to have a system in place to help make the process as efficient (and painless) as possible.

Getting Organized

Step 1 Make sure that you are ready to write.

  • If your instructor has given you a clear prompt, decide now how you will approach the question. For example, if the given assignment is "Write an essay on the women's movement. Was it successful?", you will need to decide which side you are going to take. Once you narrow your focus, your essay will be much easier to organize.
  • If you have a much broader assignment, it will be up to you to focus your topic. For example, if your assignment is "Write about something that interests you", you will not want to make the topic of your essay "Sports," especially for a short two-page essay. Choose a very specific topic, such as "Tailgating in the American South."

Step 3 Know your subject.

  • It's unlikely that you will need further research for a two-page paper, but if you aren't sure about the requirements, ask your teacher.

Step 4 Organize your materials.

Drafting Your Essay

Step 1 Brainstorm your thesis...

  • For example, if you're supposed to write a two-page essay about something that interests you, think about who your audience is (and how much explaining you'll have to do), what is the most relevant information, and why your topic is interesting to you.
  • Branching is another technique you can use while creating your thesis. Try to imagine your topic as a tree. Write your basic idea in the middle of your paper, and then "branch" out from there, adding ideas and thoughts to your central topic.
  • Another approach to try is brainstorming. To do this, write down anything and everything you know or need to know about your topic. Don't edit yourself, just get some thoughts down on paper. Once you can see your ideas, they will start to take shape. It's often helpful to do this before you try to write a formal outline, as you'll have a better idea of what you want to cover.

Step 2 Write your thesis statement.

  • For example, if you were writing an essay about college sports, a poor thesis would be, "College sports are very controversial in many ways." This is too vague, and it does not clearly take a position to argue. It will leave your reader wondering what argument you are making in your essay.
  • An example of a strong thesis for the same topic might be, "College athletes should be paid a salary for playing their sport." This is more successful because it indicates the topic you will address. It's also limited enough that you can adequately discuss it in a two-page paper.

Step 3 Put your thoughts on paper.

  • You don't necessarily need to do a formal outline to start with. Brainstorming or making a list-type outline, where you list out ideas that are related to your topic without putting them in a specific order, can help you know what you want to write about.
  • Once you have listed the ideas that support your thesis, you'll have a better sense of how to organize them.

Step 4 Include specific examples.

  • Note that not all teachers prefer or even accept this type of thesis, which is often referred to as a "multi-prong" or "three-prong" thesis. However, this type of thesis is often appropriate for very short writing assignments such as a two-page essay. If you're not sure what your teacher's preferences are, ask before you begin writing.
  • It's helpful to list specific examples in your outline, so that you know what evidence you have for each point. This can also be helpful to show you whether you have gaps or imbalances in your approach. For example, do you have just one example for one point, but three for another point? It would be better to use roughly the same number of examples per point, or even see if the less-supported point could be incorporated elsewhere.

Step 5 Cite your sources in your outline.

  • One type of citation is known as parenthetical documentation. For this method, you provide information about the source within the text of your essay. An example of this would be, "Brown argues that Einstein's theory of relativity is the most important scholarly achievement of the twentieth century (292)." The name Brown refers to the author of the book in this example, and 292 is the page number where this information is found. There are different ways to cite various sources, so make sure you know how to properly credit all of the sources you plan to use. [1] X Research source
  • Sometimes you may be asked to use footnotes or endnotes. While less common in brief essays, some teachers and bosses prefer them. Footnotes and endnotes include more thorough information about the source used. Often, when they replace parenthetical documentation, a Works Cited page is not required. [2] X Research source

Writing Your Essay

Step 1 Write your body paragraphs.

  • Make sure that each body paragraph has a topic sentence . This sentence makes it clear to your reader what each paragraph is about. For example, if you were writing an essay about the labor force during World War II, you might say, "Women were an important part of the workforce in World War II because they learned new jobs that were previously reserved only for men."
  • Include specific supporting examples in each body paragraph. For instance, if you were writing an essay about the labor force during World War II, you might say, "Many women became welders during World War II, which illustrates that gender roles in the workplace were changing."

Step 2 Write your introduction...

  • Start off with a broad contextual statement, but don't make it so broad as to have no relevance. Statements that begin like "Throughout history" or "In modern society" are "fluff" statements and don't provide any real context for your argument.
  • A good way to think of your introduction is as an inverted pyramid. Start with the broad statement that sets the scene, and then narrow down until you reach your thesis.
  • Include your thesis statement at the end of the conclusion.
  • Spend some time on your first sentence. It should be interesting and grab the attention of your reader. Try starting with a fascinating example or an exciting quotation.
  • Use your conclusion to tie together the strands of your argument. In some cases, such as persuasive essays , it's appropriate to include a call to action. You can also return to an anecdote or theme you brought up in the introduction to give your paper great symmetry.

Step 3 Use clear and concise language.

  • Watch out for the passive voice. Beginning writers often use the passive voice because it's wordier, which may be mistaken for "fancier." Here's an example of the passive voice: "It is believed by many that today's growing social violence is being caused by video games." Be verbs are often signs of passive voice. Reword it actively this way: "Many people blame video games for today's growing social violence." This is a clear grammatical order: People (subject) blame (verb) video games (direct object).
  • Avoid wordy constructions such as "It is believed that" or "This is suggestive of that." You can communicate these ideas more clearly and concisely: "People believe that" or "This suggests that."

Step 4 Use appropriate style and tone.

  • Some short essays may be more appropriate in the first-person, using "I." If you've been assigned to write a personal or persuasive essay, the first-person voice is often more personal and effective than using third-person.
  • Aim for parallel structure in sentences. Often, sentences end up sounding clunky if you ignore parallel structure. For example: "Paying college athletes is more important than to give them scholarships." Convert the infinitive "to give" to the gerund form "giving" for parallelism: "Paying college athletes is more important than giving them scholarships."

Step 5 Use transitions.

  • Here are some examples of transition words: similarly, in comparison, as a result, otherwise. During the editing process, you can try using several variations to see which best fits your style of writing. [8] X Research source

Editing Your Essay

Step 1 Walk away.

  • Be aware that the "grammar check" in word processors is often incorrect about issues, and may even suggest changes that make your writing incorrect. Don't rely only on technology.

Step 3 Read out loud.

  • There are several methods for creating a title. One idea is to begin your title with a question, such as "How..." or "Why...". Another method is to choose a specific example that occurs within your paper and use that as a starting point for your title. [10] X Research source

Step 7 Give your paper one final review.

How to Stop a Divorce in its Early Stages

How to stop a divorce in the later stages.

If you are not the spouse who filed for divorce, you generally cannot stop the process after the papers have been filed. You can contest the grounds upon which your spouse cites in the divorce petition, and you can argue custody and property distribution, but no state will force a person to remain married just because the other partner does not want to break up. However, if you are the one who initiated the proceedings, you can usually stop the divorce process depending on how far along it is.

A married couple sitting on a couch reviewing divorce paperwork

Especially in the early stages of the divorce process—such as after the petition has been filed but before it is served on your spouse, or even after it has been served papers—you can simply decide to do nothing more, which will stop the case from proceeding any further than it has.

State law likely requires that, upon filing your petition, it be served to your spouse. This is known as due process . If you want to stop your proceedings, you do not have to follow through with due process, and the court will eventually dismiss your case.

If your spouse has already been served, you can still stop the case from proceeding as long as they do not want the divorce either. If neither you nor your spouse do anything to move it forward, the court will dismiss your case just as it would if you failed to serve them. However, because your spouse is now an active participant in the proceedings, they can decide to proceed with it even if you no longer want to.

The best way to stop a divorce after the papers have been filed is to tell the court you are voluntarily withdrawing the case and do not wish to proceed any further.

1. Obtain the Proper Form

Obtain the proper form from the courthouse where you originally filed your petition. The court clerk can give you the right forms to fill out.

2. Complete the Document

Complete the required form. In most states, this is a simple one-page document that states you are voluntarily dismissing or withdrawing your own case. You do not need to provide an explanation to the court for why you are doing so.

3. File the Form with the Court

Upon completing the form, you must file it with the court. The clerk will return a copy for your records as well as one to serve on your husband or wife.

4. Serve Your Spouse

If your state requires your spouse to be served, you must serve them with a copy of your dismissal. Some courts will mail it for you, but others may require you to either give it to them yourself, use a process server , or mail a copy by certified mail.

5. Consult a Divorce Attorney

If you're concerned about how far along you are in the divorce process, it's recommended to get legal guidance from a divorce attorney in your area. Even with a quick consultation, a lawyer could advise you on any potential steps you need for your state.

If you initiated divorce proceedings but are now having second thoughts, you can likely still stop the process depending on how far it has gone. You might also choose to speak with your spouse regarding how you can both come to an agreement to reverse the process and continue the marriage.

W.H.O. Declares Global Emergency Over New Mpox Outbreak

The epidemic is concentrated in the Democratic Republic of Congo, but the virus has now appeared in a dozen other African countries.

  • Share full article

A health worker in a yellow gown, a white mask and a blue hairnet holds a sealed plastic bag containing samples in a makeshift laboratory space in a tent.

By Apoorva Mandavilli

The rapid spread of mpox, formerly called monkeypox, in African countries constitutes a global health emergency, the World Health Organization declared on Wednesday.

This is the second time in three years that the W.H.O. has designated an mpox epidemic as a global emergency. It previously did so in July 2022. That outbreak went on to affect nearly 100,000 people , primarily gay and bisexual men, in 116 countries, and killed about 200 people.

The threat this time is deadlier. Since the beginning of this year, the Democratic Republic of Congo alone has reported 15,600 mpox cases and 537 deaths. Those most at risk include women and children under 15.

“The detection and rapid spread of a new clade of mpox in eastern D.R.C., its detection in neighboring countries that had not previously reported mpox, and the potential for further spread within Africa and beyond is very worrying,” said Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the W.H.O.’s director general.

The outbreak has spread through 13 countries in Africa, including a few that had never reported mpox cases before. On Tuesday, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention declared a “public health emergency of continental security,” the first time the organization has taken that step since the African Union granted it the power to do so last year.

“It’s in the interests of the countries, of the continent and of the world to get our arms around this and stop transmission as soon as we can,” said Dr. Nicole Lurie, the executive director for preparedness and response at the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, a nonprofit that finances vaccine development.

I love this profession because I have seen many serious cases and they become all right when they visit a doctor. They are magicians and have superpowers therefore I also want to become a doctor.

Who is my Inspiration?

My mother is a doctor and she helps everyone, she also works in an NGO. Many poor and old people come to thank her and it sounds very good. I also love helping people. Doctors are God on earth because they can bring you back from death.

Once one of my classmates was badly injured in an accident and everyone lost their hope but it was the doctor who protected her. I can easily relate this incident with my mother and how she helps others. So, I want to become like her.

There are various professions through which you can help others. As I have seen some live examples of the contribution of doctors, I want to be a doctor. Essay 2 (400 Words) – Why I want to Become a Doctor?

There are different colours in a rainbow but it is not everyone likes white; it depends on us and our likes. Some of us like yellow whereas some like red. Similarly, there are many professions and I want to become a doctor. There are many reasons behind choosing this profession and one of the most important ones is I love being a doctor.

What I Like About Doctors

When I was young, I lost my grandmother, she died because of cancer. I was very sad because I could not do anything, and I decided to be a doctor. I wish to make such a medicine so that no one will die due to cancer. Doctors can treat anyone and they have the power to make new medicines and new life-saving equipment.

Doctors always try their best and never say ‘no’. They start with let’s try and most of the time they succeed. I love the determination they have for their patients. They don’t even know their patient still they treat them as a family.

In the COVID-19 pandemic, all the doctors and other medical staff worked 24×7. They didn’t even think about themselves. It really needs the courage to do so and hats off to the doctors. They also have family and all of us love our own life, still, it was their determination that the recovery rates were so high.

I as a Doctor

As a doctor, I will always make sure that no one dies due to lack of treatment. I want to develop a system that I can fix all the damaged parts and give rebirth to a dead person. Because every year many families lose their loved ones. So, I will develop a system through which no one will die before a normal death.

I want to facilitate all types of medical facilities to the poor. As sometimes they don’t have enough money for treatment, although the government has announced various schemes for them, due to lack awareness they unable to avail of the benefit.

Whatever profession we choose we should do it honestly. It is the duty of a doctor to let his patients know all the schemes and latest plans announced by the government. A doctor should always be of helping minded and should help everyone. Either someone has money to pay him or not.

Essay on I Want to Become a Doctor

Essay 3 (500 – 600 Words) – Doctor: as a Profession

Whenever you fall, feel pain or uneasy the only person we remember is a doctor. When you are grown up, you can easily explain what has happened to you, but have you ever thought of infant children. They cannot even explain their problem still, doctors easily treat them. Really, they are geniuses.

Duty of a Doctor

Doctors are next to God on earth and they take care of every human on earth. There are also doctors available for animals. The word doctor sounds like a healer.

  •  A doctor should always help others either someone has money to pay or not.
  • Doctors should always recommend the correct medication because some doctors want to make money and they unnecessarily recommend some tests and check-ups.
  • It is not everyone can be a doctor because it needs some different levels of mind and also money for being a doctor. And if someone has that ability then he should apply it for the sake of people.
  • A doctor should be open to all and should not discriminate his patients as pre-money.
  • They should always make people aware of different schemes and plans because the medication is very costly these days. Although the government has various plans for the poor, due to lack of knowledge they couldn’t get it.
  • A doctor should always be humble and polite because a patient himself be frustrated because of his disease. When doctors treat them in a good way, they feel good.
  • A doctor should always encourage his patients because sometimes encouragement and belief work more than medicine.
  • He should be brave and honest about his profession.
  • A doctor should never be careless because a small carelessness can take a life.

Types of Doctors

Doctors are of different types and depending on their interest and marks in the entrance exam. Those who take care of children are called paediatricians, whereas those who take care of females are known as gynaecologists. Similarly, the brain, heart specialist is known as Neurologist and Cardiologist. There are different doctors available for different parts of the body.

How to Become a Doctor?

Many students every year work hard to become a doctor and they start their preparation from a very early stage. One should take biology as a subject in their academic year 11th and 12th and should be passionate. After academics, one should clear some exams naming NEET which is also known as the All India Paramedical Test. After this one can easily take part in the counselling of various collages as per their rank.

After completing college education, one should work under an experienced doctor and complete their internship, and then he will be a complete doctor. All you need is a strong determination and no one can stop you.

Apart from Allopathy, there are some other branches of medication like Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Naturopathy, etc. One can also be a specialist in these sectors. Ayurveda is an Indian form of medication which was followed by our ancestors.

Being a doctor automatically develops a sense of responsibility and if you are not disciplined and focused don’t become a doctor. A doctor should be brave and should never give up whatever the situation might be. The only motive of a doctor should be to protect others. Whatever profession you choose you should be always loyal and focused. Doctors are a kind of social worker and if needed they also work for the entire day. The COVID-19 pandemic has encouraged many youngsters to be a doctor. The hard work and courage they had shown in this period is really markable and cannot be neglected. And if you are alive today it is just because of them. So, always respect a doctor and pass a smile whenever you meet a doctor.

Doctors tried to scam ‘moron’ matthew perry into paying more for ketamine: docs.

Two doctors arrested and charged in connection to Matthew Perry’s death allegedly texted each other to discuss scamming the late “Friends” star into paying more for ketamine.

Dr. Salvador Plasencia, an urgent care physician in Calabasas, Calif., texted Dr. Mark Chavez about purchasing ketamine so he could sell the drug to “victim M.P.,” who a law enforcement official confirmed was Perry, according to the New York Times .

Prosecutors claim Plasencia discussed with Chavez how much to charge Perry for the drug, writing, “I wonder how much this moron will pay” and “Lets [sic] find out.”

Chavez, 54, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine and admitted to selling ketamine to Plasencia, 42. Chavez also obtained ketamine by making false representations to a wholesale distributor and by submitting a fraudulent prescription in the name of a former patient, officials said in a press conference Thursday.

The group distributed 20 vials of ketamine to Perry for $55,000 in cash, said US Attorney Martin Estrada.

“These defendants were more interested in profiting off Mr. Perry than caring about his wellbeing,” Estrada added.

Authorities also arrested Perry’s personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, “Ketamine Queen” Jasveen Sangha and acquaintance Erik Fleming.

Chavez, Iwamasa and Fleming already have pleaded guilty in the federal case, the NYT reported.

Fleming pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine and one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death. Per NYT, Fleming admitted he obtained ketamine from Sangha and distributed 50 vials to Iwamasa in the days leading up to Perry’s passing.

Iwamasa also admitted to injecting the “17 Again” star with ketamine on the day he died.

Perry passed away  on Oct. 28 at age 54 after taking ketamine that caused him to lose consciousness in his hot tub, where he was discovered “floating face down.”

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office said in an autopsy report released in December that Perry’s cause of death was the “acute effects of ketamine.” The medical examiner noted that the level of ketamine in Perry’s system was equal to the amount used for general anesthesia.

Perry had been receiving ketamine infusion therapy , which is used to treat depression, anxiety, PTSD and other mental health issues, at the time of his death; however, his last treatment took place more than a week before he died, indicating to authorities the ketamine he ingested hadn’t been medically supervised.

The medical examiner also shared that drowning, coronary artery disease and buprenorphine, which is used to treat drug addiction and pain, contributed to his death.

What does a Two-Page Essay Look Like?

A two-page essay generally contains the following elements:

  • Citations and references list (if the essay requires research)

Of course, we should not forget that an essay should be easy to read. It should not sound too technical with deep words and complex sentence structure.

   Two-Page Essay Outline

1 introduction.

Here are its objectives:

  • To attract your readers’ attention.
  • To state the topic and subtopics you will cover in the content.
  • To provide context and background information on the topic.

Take note: Don’t forget to write the thesis statement as you close your introduction.

This is the “meat” of your essay. Therefore, you should do the following:

  • Support your thesis with two to four arguments.
  • Arrange those arguments logically.
  • Provide evidence and analysis.

3 Conclusion

The concluding paragraph is often underestimated by students. The conclusion should be:

  • A summary of your main ideas with a powerful closing statement.

Take note: Your thesis statement should be reasserted in conclusion.

   Two-Page Essay Example

People throughout history have been worried about the emergence of new technological innovations. The invention of the printing press during the 16th century induced the fear that the human brain cannot cope with information overload. With the age of the internet, an individual will get the same fears that he or she hears today in the media. In fact, it has made both positive and negative effects on the functions of the human brain. The internet allows an individual to find a plethora of content, reading materials, and websites at the click of a button. Unfortunately, some content indexed by the internet may be harmful to an individual’s brain and mental health. For example, a person can become addicted to online casinos and poker websites. However, it is difficult to completely blame these gambling websites for causing addiction amongst its users.

Nevertheless, the internet enables people to quickly access information at any period of time. The brain optimally analyzes incoming sensory information whether a person watches a group of children playing in the park or a video online. Notably, the human brain does not handle every information coming from the senses. Instead, it is filtered and selected from the person’s past experiences . One must note— however— that the brain is perfectly adapted to cope with information overload, as it has built protection mechanisms against the latter. Moreover, constant access to information online may cause a person’s memory to deteriorate. It should be taken into account that the human memory system is arranged differently. Unconscious processes are the facade of the said system. In that regard, events that have emotional resonance or significance are easier to store in memory in contrast to abstract information or facts. However, the way it affects the development of the brain is unclear. Constant repetition of certain actions and experience are reflected in the structure of the brain. For instance, the cerebral cortex of experienced musicians— a region in the cerebrum responsible for motor skills and memory— differs greatly from other people. It can be gleaned that understanding information helps develop a person’s memory. Alternatively, some studies suggest that an important stimulus for brain development is the diversity of incoming data. In this case, comprehending fascinating information from the internet is much better than learning empty facts and figures. However, even web pages are usually overloaded with information to which an individual ’s short-term memory cannot cope with it. This may have a side effect on a person ’s memory system. Apparently, there is no clear perspective of the issue. A human being’s attention system is complex, as scientists have not established a common ground on how it functions. To begin, there are two-level attention systems — namely the conscious and the unconscious. The former “manages” attention, while the latter is responsible for processing important information coming from a person’s senses. These two-level systems allow an individual to concentrate on a difficult task. Hence, this explains why some people like to listen to music while working. Otherwise, they would be distracted, in which it would prevent them from solely concentrating on their tasks at hand. The internet, however, is capable to easily distract a person. For instance, an individual can easily access an engaging or entertaining content in a matter of seconds. This poses a problem considering that computers are used for work and leisure. Hence, this may require the person to exercise balance and self-discipline. Overall, the usage of the world wide web presently has made a profound impact on the human brain. The internet, despite its disadvantages, interestingly stimulates the functions of a person’s brain. However, self-discipline might be needed in order for people to increase their productivity at work.

‘next gen’ filler craze uses your own blood — but docs warn it is ‘unreliable’.

Perhaps the popularity of the vampire facial isn’t immortal after all.

Rather than just slathering their faces with their own blood, beauty chasers are injecting it into their faces with a syringe to reap the supposed benefits of rejuvenation and a youthful-looking complexion.

The injections of PRF, or platelet-rich fibrin, are lauded as being more natural than other aesthetics procedures, as patients seek our “alternatives to filler,” board-certified dermatologist Dr. Ava Shamban told Allure .

While both PRF and its cousin PRP — or platelet-rich plasma used in the so-called “vampire facial” — employ the patient’s own blood to create the rejuvenating concoction, which is then placed in a centrifuge for separation.

A woman receiving a lip augmentation procedure with hyaluronic acid filler at a SPA center

To make create the PRF injections, the blood is spun at a lower speed than PRP so that “some white blood cells, stem cells and fibrin also stay in the platelet layer,” explained Dr. Doris Day, a board-certified dermatologist.

In theory, the injections have the potential to expedite skin healing, minimize under-eye circles and wrinkles or even treat hair loss,

“They’re considered the next generation of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments, which are usually used to aid sports injuries,” Dr. Michael Somenek, a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon who practices in New York City, told Byrdie .

“The absence of an anticoagulant in the tube allows the formation of a spongy, gel-like product rich in platelets, stem cells, growth factors, and fibrin that can be injected into the skin to address signs of aging, hair loss or skin healing.”

Woman getting PRF treatement

While the injections — which cost anywhere from $500 to $2,000 for a single session and typically require multiple treatments to achieve results, per Byrdie — are most commonly used as facial fillers, particularly in the under-eye region, other doctors aren’t convinced of its efficacy.

“PRF is being sold as filler, but I don’t think it works like filler,” Day told Allure, nothing that she hasn’t “seen great published data” on PRF injections in the face.

In fact, she doesn’t even offer the treatment in her clinics, arguing that she hasn’t “seen much benefit” from literature. However, one small study published last year found promising results in treating acne scarring and boosting the texture and elasticity of the skin.

@alexandkellz PRF (Platelet rich fibrin) injections have been super popular lately so I had to try them out. Would you try this or stick to filler? @dr.hamadiya #prfinjections #plateletrichfibrin #brickellmiami #undereyefiller ♬ Sunshine – WIRA

“I’ve seen people unhappy with the results, and even people who have scarring from it,” she continued. “I really talk people out of it.”

Board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Amir Karam, who founded the Carmel Valley Facial Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Center, told Byrdie that PRF is unlikely to create or change the volume underneath the eyes, calling the injections “unreliable.”

“As you can imagine, going in five times to get your under-eyes injected, the amount of bruising and trauma to that area is pretty substantial,” Karam explained. “And even in those cases, you rarely see a significant enough change. So for healing purposes and potentially giving the skin a little bit of a boost following microneedling, it probably has some value, but not as a filler substitute.”

According to Shamban, the Food and Drug Administration has expressed concerns over potential blood contamination and subsequent health risks, and the agency has previously issued statements cautioning against medical treatments involving stem cells, although it is unclear whether PRF would fall in such category.

Despite dubious docs’ cautions against the innovative therapy, Shamban says more people are drawn to the injections as a result of “filler fatigue,” although she also warned it is not an equal substitute for traditional hyaluronic acid fillers.

Those who “experience sagging, heaviness, or stretched-out tissues from overfilling and improper techniques [like poor] product placement,” she continued, are enamored with the shiny new prospect of “a more ‘natural’ product for skin revitalization and rejuvenation.”
