For instance, most dishes are wrapped in nylon covers, bubble wraps and cardboard boxes, which together can fill a large rubbish bag. (90 words)

To decrease the amount of garbage, governments can legislate laws to limit the garbage produced by households to a certain level, say, a kilogram every day. As a result, people would definitely try to buy only the things they need to avoid throwing away too much. Another possible solution would be to encourage producers to improve their packaging techniques and use less packaging material like paper and plastic. For instance, if governments ask dish producers to use printed and colorful bubble wraps, they can act as protective covers as well as eye-catching packages, which means that buyers will only have to throw away one wrapper. (105 words)

In conclusion, the reasons behind the rise in waste production include consumerism and product packages, and possible solutions are laws to restrict household garbage as well as encouraging industries to use improved packaging. (33 words)

En esta investigación abordamos la traducción comunitaria, en concreto aquellos textos que versen sobre la PAC. A lo largo de los años, la PAC se ha sometido a profundos cambios para poder hacer frente a los nuevos desafíos que se le iban planteando; como consecuencia de ello, de las instituciones europeas han emanado textos que se han tenido que traducir y se seguirán traduciendo a todas las lenguas de la UE. El objetivo de este estudio ha sido el de identificar, basándonos en la GSF, los principales rasgos lingüísticos de un corpus de textos de carácter técnico cuya temática principal sea la PAC. Los pasos conducentes a tal estudio han sido los siguientes: a) identificar aspectos discursivos: gramática y léxico utilizados; b) identificar aspectos lingüísticos y terminología especializada (ámbito agroalimentario), c) identificar aspectos retóricos: naturaleza de los textos y su finalidad. Resumo Nesta entrevista, Ursula Hoadley, docente e pesquisadora da Universidade da Cidade do Cabo, África do Sul, discute algumas das ideias que desenvolve em seu livro Pedagogia na pobreza: lições de vinte anos de reformas curriculares na África do Sul, bem como salienta a potência explicativa da teoria de Basil Bernstein, sua principal referência nesta e em outras investigações no contexto sul-africano. A entrevistada comenta seus principais achados nessa pesquisa, que possibilitou descrever e analisar práticas docentes desenvolvidas por professoras dos anos iniciais do Ensino Fundamental, frente a um movimento de vinte anos de reformas curriculares, no contexto anterior e posterior ao apartheid. Suas reflexões não perdem de vista as especificidades de seu país, mas situam as reformas curriculares estudadas no cenário mais amplo de mudanças em países em desenvolvimento, o que as torna especialmente interessantes para os debates sobre o currículo da educação básica no Brasil.

Formaldehyde induces nonlinear, concentration-related increases in nasal epithelial cell proliferation and squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) in rats. A formaldehyde carcinogenicity study was conducted in which a major end point was correlation of cell proliferation indices with sites of formaldehyde-induced SCC. A poor correlation in certain sites led to incorporation of the number of cells in each site into the correlation. Rats were exposed (6h/day, 5 days/week) to formaldehyde (0, 0.7, 2, 6, 10 or 15 ppm) for up to 24 months with interim sacrifice time points at 3, 6, 12, and 18 mo. A unit length labeling index (ULLI; S-phase nuclei/mm basement membrane) was determined for specific nasal regions in addition to a population-weighted ULLI (PWULLI). The PWULLI was defined as the product of regional ULLI and total number of nasal epithelial cells in the respective site. Nasal SCC sites of origin were mapped. Formaldehyde induced SCC in a highly nonlinear fashion, with no observed effect...
