Newcastle University undergraduate tuition fees

Our undergraduate tuition fees for new UK students entering Newcastle University in 2024 will be £9,250.

The maximum fee that we are permitted to charge for UK students is set by the UK government. As a general principle, you should expect the tuition fee to increase in each subsequent academic year of your course, subject to government regulations on fee increases and in line with inflation.

You may be eligible to apply for a  tuition fee loan  and if you are accepted, you will not have to pay any tuition fees up-front or while you are studying.

Please note that some of our degrees involve  additional costs  which are not covered by your tuition fee.

Depending on your residency history, if you’re a student from the EU, other EEA or a Swiss national, with settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme, you’ll normally pay the ‘Home’ tuition fee rate and may be eligible for Student Finance England support.

EU students without settled or pre-settled status will normally be charged fees at the ‘International’ rate and will not be eligible for Student Finance England support.

If you are unsure of your fee status, check out the latest guidance  here .

Tuition fee information for international students is set out on our individual  degree pages  for each degree.

Further information

If you are a current student, please visit our  tuition fee pages  for finance information.

You may be eligible for a 2% discount off your annual tuition fees by paying them up front and in full.

Find out more about funding and discounts.

The University will withhold your degree certificate if you have not paid your tuition fees. We explain this policy in the  University General Regulations  (PDF: 322KB).

We want to protect you by making sure you don't take unnecessary risks with your money.

To ensure your safety in paying your tuition fees, we will no longer accept cash payments from the 2020/21 academic year.

We offer you many other payment options by safer and more secure means.

University tuition fees are not subject to exchange control regulations for Chinese students.

Find out more about tuition fee payment methods .

Home fee students will need to allow around £9,500-£10,500 a year for living costs. This figure is for guidance only. It will depend on your own personal spending patterns and how you manage your money.

Find out more about cost of living.

We aim to minimise additional costs to students but some of our degrees involve costs that tuition fees do not cover. To make sure that you budget accurately for university life, check if your degree requires any additional course costs.

Find out more about additional course costs.

Find out more about our current  access and participation plan and see our summary of 2023-24 course fees .

Visit our Student Progress site to find more information and FAQs.

Please note that this summary applies to Home students only. International students can find international fees on each course profile .
