Apply now for D.El.Ed: Last date for application, November 23

Applications are invited for admission to two categories of teacher training courses in Kerala. The detailed notification including the list of affiliated schools is available in the website education.kerala.gov.in/ .

D.El.Ed – Diploma in Elementary Education has replaced the old TTC/DEd courses. The last date for application is 23 November. This two year full time diploma course trains teachers for primary level and makes them eligible for securing jobs at the LP/UP classes in the government and aided schools. The candidates have to pass plus two with at least 50% marks, within three chances. In case the candidate had attended the SAY exam, it would be considered as an additional chance. Meanwhile, backward communities require 45% marks.

There are no marks and chance restrictions for scheduled castes/tribes. The lower age limit for the applicants is 17 years and the upper age limit is 33 years as on July 1, 2021. Meanwhile, it is 36 and 38 respectively for the backward/scheduled communities. Ex-servicemen would be allowed age relaxation for the duration of their service period. Seats have been allotted in the 40:40:20 ratio for Science, Humanities and Commerce subjects. Reservation seats are there in various categories. Check the notification in the website for more details about minority/management/service quota and Tamil/Kannada teachers.

Nursery Teacher Education – The last date for applying for the two-year full-time course for pre-primary teacher training is November.20 The applicants should pass plus two, securing at least 45% marks. Meanwhile, backward communities require 43%. Scheduled caste/tribes only need to pass plus two. The lower age limit is 17 years and the upper age limit is 33 years as on June 1 2021. Meanwhile, it is 36 and 38 respectively for backward/scheduled communities. Besides, teachers in the approved institutions will get a relaxation of 1 year for every two years of service subject to a maximum relaxation of up to 3 years.

Those who have excelled in music, dance, and drama in the state youth festivals are eligible for a relaxation of 5% marks. Besides, applicants who produce certificates of excellence in sports are eligible for weightage marks too.

The application has to be prepared in the format that is given in the website. The application along with self-attested certificates/documents should reach the desired schools within 5 pm on 20 November. Besides the three government institutes in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, and Kozhikode, there are 9 more approved self-financing institutes across the state.

Early Childhood Care and Education Course 

Rashtrabharathi aims to start high standard Nursery Teachers Training centers, provide job oriented courses, and empower the public about the importance of pre primary education across the villages of Kerala. Rashtrabharathi provide nursery teachers training in association with NIOS, which is a registered society that take the initiatives to carry out various educational programs associated with the state and central government as well as social welfare department.

Course Details Kerala government does not conduct any direct English/Malayalam medium nursery teachers training courses. The course can be conducted only by the institutes which are registered with the Government. Those who have successfully completed these courses are eligible to work in educational institutions inside and outside Kerala. The graduates who pass this course are eligible to teach in English medium lower primary and upper primary schools. Those who successfully complete the course can register in Employment exchange. They are also eligible to start day cares, play school and kindergarten of their own.

There is no age limit to our courses. SSLC is the minimum eligibility for this course. NTTC is a one year course. Nursery TTC course is of two types. We offer regular and distant education courses. So employed people can join for distant education mode. Regular classes are from Monday to Friday. The time of regular classes is from 10 am to 1 pm and 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm.

We provide study materials as two parts through post after course registration in case of distant education students. There will be two contact classes for 10 days in Rashtrabharathi for distant education candidates. There will be two contact classes in August and September. The  August classes are regarding the theory and September classes regarding practical and record works. Contact classes are compulsory. The students must wear uniform.

The exam can be written either in English or Malayalam. The candidates can have their teaching practice .The course certificate and mark list will be send through post after main exam.

To register the course, send the filled form attached with this along with the two attested copy of SSLC certificate and a course fees of Rs 1800/-either as DD or money order in the name of Rashtrabharathi along with 5 passport size photographs through registered post.(Applications send through courier will be rejected.

Fee structure

Coaching  fees-Rs. 6800/-

Coaching fees can be remitted in three instalments. Course registration fees is Rs 1800/- and it needs to be send along with registration form. An amount of Rs.2400/- needs to be paid as DD or money order in  two installments in September and December.

Record fees of Rs.650/- needs to be paid directly in Rashtrabharathi in September and an exam fees of Rs 850/-in September and Certificates fees of Rs 450/- needs to be paid in November 2011.

About Teacher Training Certificate (TTC):

The full form of TTC is Trained Teacher’s Certificate .

T T C Course is a two year undergraduate course conducted by the Teacher’s Training Department. Teachers graduating from this course are qualified to teach in English medium primary schools. The department was established in 1955 at the request of the Govt of West Bengal. In 2003-2004, the department was recognized by the NCTE.

The 2 year course prepares teachers in all professional subjects, viz. Educational Psychology, Principles of Education and School Organization, Methods of Teaching Subjects at the Primary Level such as Value Education, English, Mathematics, History, Geography and General Science. Instruction is also given in Practical Subjects such as Art and Craft, Physical Education, Speech Training and preparation of Teaching Aids.

TTC Courses Eligibility

To qualify as a teacher you must meet the following requirements:

Educational qualification:

The candidates who passed or appeared for the 10+2 Final Examinations or its equivalent are eligible to pursue TTC Courses. But they should have passed the qualifying examination by the time of admission.

The candidate should have secured 45% of marks in aggregate in qualifying examination. The minimum percentage of marks in the case of SC, ST and Physically Challenged candidates shall however be 40%.

TTC Course Duration:

Duration of Trained Teacher’s Certificate Course is two years (2 yrs). However, a candidate can complete the teacher training course any time within 2-year limit.

No, there is no age bar for enrolling for Teachers Training Course. Anyone above the age of 17 is eligible for pursuing this TTC Course.

• Placements: The Institute has a highly effective and successful placement process, with a majority of interested students securing jobs through campus placements.
• Infrastructure: The classrooms are furnished with essential amenities like water facilities and a reliable power supply. The seating arrangements are kept tidy and well-maintained

You'll realize there is repetition and bias on certain topics and questions. 3) Study smart, not hard : Unless of course you want in depth knowledge of the subject, and not just marks. • Nice ambient campus. Excellent library facility, canteen and play grounds.
• Experienced faculties appointed by the Government.
• The menu at the canteen would have been better.
• Missed a regular course campus life as there was only contact classes.

As the course is distance education, we could study while working. The exact student-faculty ratio is not known although in my class we were 45. Excellent faculties well experienced most of them with doctorates in their field. We get weekly 2 classes, as the course is distance mode and the faculties are available to clear our doubts. Exams were conducted regularly for each semester as per the course timetable. Exams were easy to pass and the grades will depend on our efforts.

My college life at a glance.

I am quite interested in economics mainly the theory sections. The faculty is very good in the state I guess. They are well-versed professionals who are passionate in teaching economics. All faculty members are have a qualification of MA in economics and some of them even have PhD.Exams are quite tough.

Peaceful Campus

After +2, I needed a graduation, so I chose this subject. The teaching is good and they are friendly towards friends.  Boys are very low strength while girls are high strength. I passed the semester-based exam. Some semesters are hard and others are easy, and I passed and achieved it.

The duration of this course is two years and the program fee structure is as follows: Tuition Fees First Year 21,325 Second Year 19,850 Total Fees 41,175 So the total fee for the program is considered very expensive.

My college journey!

The fee structure in my college was quite feasible. My course fee for bcom costed around 4448 rupees per year. Special relaxations were also provided to students of reserved category and with weak economical backgrounds.

Golden college journey!

The fee structure of my college was well organized and feasible. My total fees for MBA course was 20588 rupees per year. Students were also given scholarship opportunities if they had excelled in their education backgrounds.

UGC's refusal to recognize Annamalai University's distance courses adds to graduates' woes

Kozhikode: The delay in the follow-up on the cancellation of recognition of Annamalai University’s distance education courses is detrimentally affecting the employment prospects of many graduates. The students who obtained UG and PG degrees from the university through distance education between 2015-2022 are in crisis. With the withdrawal of the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) approval for these courses, students are in danger of losing employment.

Even after completion of courses, students require an equivalency certificate to seek employment in Kerala. Students approached the universities in Kerala to get the equivalency certificate but were denied on the grounds that such certificates cannot be given for courses whose approval has been cancelled by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

The graduates have approached the High Court and Supreme Court seeking a resolution for their issues. The UGC carried out the de-accreditation process of distance education programmes of the university in March 2022. Annamalai University, which is a state university, does not have permission to run distance education centres outside Tamil Nadu, the UGC stated.

Between 2015-22, the university ran distance education centres in many states including Kerala. Centres were opened outside Tamil Nadu with permission of the Madras High Court. In January 2023, the high court ordered the approval of courses but the UGC refused to relent. The Supreme Court will be considering this petition in July.
