Brainy is a lifesaver!!!!!
Brainly is a lifesaver. It is SOOOO helpful and my grades definitely wouldn’t be where they are now if it weren’t for Brainly. I struggle a bit in certain subjects and so if I need help I just go to Brainly and ask a question or search for a question others have asked and read explanations. You see, Brainly doesn’t just give you the answer, they give you a thorough step-by-step explanation that really helps you understand how to get to the correct answer. Helps me every time. I have paid $0 and I can still get so much homework assistance. I also really love Brainly AI because all you do is ask/scan the question and the AI gives you a PERFECT step-by-step explanation. I’ve tried other online [math] calculators that also give step-by-step explanations, but sometimes I don’t understand and just ask Brainly AI and I understand it much better. The best part is that you can use their AI for free :) I also really enjoy answering other people’s questions and I like how Brainly incorporates points and badges into the app because it keeps you motivated to ask questions and help other people as well. Great work! ❤️📚📎✏️

I have been using the tutors to help me with some challenging questions for my math homework. Many have been very helpful but you’re only able to ask 20 questions a month. I have used 12/20 mostly because the tutors take me in then say they can’t solve the question and end the session. Because of this it has been using up the questions I can ask for this month. And when you loose connection it gets rid of all the tutors work and you have to ask a new tutor. Its really upsetting when you have waited to find out how to solve the question your struggling on for 10 or minutes to see oh you lost connection go find a new tutor. It happened to me once and all the other tutors gave me the wrong answer or said they didn’t know how to do it. One tutor was convinced what they got was the right answer but my teacher gives us the correct answers so we can check our work. I would have made a comment on it but then it said I lost connection. Which is really weird because I have really good wifi and it doesn’t say or do this on other apps. If this happens I wish there was a reconnect option. Just know when you sign up for brainly plus there is a chance the tutors won’t give you the correct answer. They are real people and won’t know how to do everything and can make minor mistakes within the problems. Just make sure you go through and check everything and that it makes sense to you before you end the session.

Hello there, We are sorry to hear that the Brainly Homework App did not meet your expectations. Whether it's about our math calculator, or any other issue, we're happy to help you at [email protected]
Ads loading forever and not showing up at all...
The app it’s self is really good and very helpful and I appreciate it very much but, Recently for the past 3 days whenever I’ve went into the app and had to watch an ad as usual, it would load for very a long time and never show up in the end no matter how long I waited. I even tried many things to see what the problem was. My connection was fine and I’ve tried to refresh, turn off or shut off my phone, logging in out logging back in, deleting the app and re-installing, and offloading the app. But with all the efforts I put in to make it work it never did. So I decided to go on the website instead and it worked perfectly fine the ads did show up and let me play them. So the problem seemed to be the app it’s self, but the only thing that is inconvenient about going to the website instead of the app, is it only gives me a limited amount of ads I can watch to get answers in a day. I’m not sure if I’m The only one with this problem but I believe since a couple days have passed this seem to be a really worrisome for me and difficult since I really like the app in general. So therefore, I would like to see and know if there’s anything I’m doing wrong or something that I need to do to make it work. Please and thank you for your value time.

What Is Brainly?
By Med Kharbach, PhD | Last Update: May 15, 2024
Brainly is an online homework helper that is available both as a website and a mobile app. Students use Brainly to get help with their learning from fellow students and from experts in the subjects.
As such, “Brainly is a knowledge-sharing community where 350 million students and experts put their heads together to crack their toughest homework questions.” I am definitely adding Brainly to my list of homework help websites here in educatorstechnology.com.
I like to think of Brainly as the Wikipedia of homework. Students draw on the collective wisdom of other students and teachers to find solutions to the learning problems they face in a wide variety of subjects including Math, History, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Social Studies, Geography, Arts, Computer Science, Business, Law, Engineering, World Languages, Health and many more.
The way Brainly website works is simple and easy: students ask questions either in the form of text or pictures and the Brainly community provides answers. Answers to students questions can be provided by other students, PhDs, teachers, educators, among others. Answers are verified on a daily basis by a dedicated team of subject experts and moderators.
As many subjects have already been explored in Brainly, students are advised to first use the site’s search functionality to make sure their question has not been asked before. Additionally, when formulating questions, students are advised to write precise and clear questions with no spelling and grammatical errors.
The clearer the question the higher the chance of getting accurate answers from community members. Questions can also include attachments allowing students to provide more contextual information and data to help clarify their questions. For more on how to formulate better questions check out these guidelines .
Another great feature I like about Brainly is its interactivity. Students learn in an interactive way. For instance, they can contribute to the knowledge building taking place in the site by helping solve other students’ problems. They can also report false answers and inappropriate content to Brainly’s moderators, and many more.
There is also the possibility for students to work directly 1:1 with Brainly tutors . That is, instead of simply asking a question and waiting for an answer, students can get help live and directly from vetted experts.
Students can “chat directly with [a] tutor, ask follow-up questions, and be given images, equations, and drawings to guide you through the correct answer.” However, Brainly Tutor feature is only available for paid subscribers; also only questions related to math and physics are supported by Brainly Tutor.
Parents can also join Brainly and pair their accounts with their kids. In so doing, they get to keep track of their kids learning progress, learn about the challenges they face with their homework, and also contribute by giving a helping hand.
When parents upgrade their accounts, the upgrade carryover to their kids account for no cost. Again, this feature has some limitations. For instance, parents can pair their accounts with only one child. If they have more than one child they need more than one parent account.
Brainly gamification and engagement features make learning fun and engaging. There are a point system and a ranking system in place. Points can be used to ask questions. “Every time you want to ask a question, you will need to choose a specific amount of points to spend, and also receive points for every question that you answer.
The more points you give away, the greater your chances of getting an answer right away!” There are various ways to earn points on Brainly. These include: 40 points for signing up, 5 points for logging in daily, 5 points for each moderation you provide, 50% of the points when you provide genius and accurate answers, and many more.
As for Brainly ranking system, there are two types of ranks: regular ranks and special ranks. Regular ranks are reached by collecting a given number of points and best answers. Regular ranks include (genius, ace, expert, virtuoso, ambitious, helping hand, and beginner). Special ranks “are the other ranks that you may see on specific accounts. Accounts that have special ranks will also have a regular rank above them.”
The Textbook Solutions is another great resource provided by Brainly website. It is a hub where students can find step by step solutions to the learning difficulties they face in their textbooks. Students can search for a particular textbook using the site’s search filters.
They need to type in the title or part of the title of the textbook, select a specific subject and schools (e.g., college, high school middle school, and elementary school) and click on the magnifying glass. Once they find the textbook they are interested in they can click on it and scroll down to explore the exercises and solutions it offers.
Brainly offers two main plans a basic and a premium plan. The Basic plan has a number of limitations. These include; it supports ads, provides access to only a limited amount of content, interruptions, and many more. Brainly Plus, on the other hand, allows users to access to unlimited content including Verified Answers.
Brainly is available as a mobile app for Android and iOS .
Final thoughts
In wrapping up, Brainly emerges as a revolutionary platform in the landscape of online homework assistance, echoing the collaborative spirit of a global classroom. This “Wikipedia of homework” not only facilitates the sharing of knowledge across a wide array of subjects but also fosters a culture of mutual support and continuous learning among students worldwide. With its user-friendly interface, verified answers, and interactive features, Brainly stands out as a beacon for students seeking guidance and for parents looking to support their children’s educational journey.

The 5 Best Homework Help Apps You Can Use
General Education
We know that homework can be a real drag. It’s time-consuming, and can be difficult to complete all on your own. So, what can you do if you’re struggling?
You might try looking online or in the app store! If you’ve already looked around you probably know that there are tons of homework sites for students and homework apps out there that all say they can help you improve your grades and pass your classes. But, can you trust them? And what are the best apps for homework help?
Below, we answer these questions and more about homework help apps–free and paid . We’ll go over:
- The basics of homework help apps
- The cost of homework help apps
- The five best apps for homework help
- The pros and cons of using apps that help you with homework
- The line between “learning” and “cheating” when using apps that help you with homework
- Tips for getting the most out of homework sites for students
So let’s jump in!
The Basics About Apps that Help You With Homework–Free and Paid
The bottom line is, homework sites and homework apps are intended to help you complete your take-home assignments successfully. They provide assistance that ranges from answering questions you submit through a portal all the way to one-on-one tutoring, depending on the help you need!
The big plus for both homework help apps and websites is that they usually offer help on-demand. So if you can’t make it to after school tutoring, or if you're studying late into the night (it happens!), you can still access the help you need!
If you’re specifically looking for an answer to the question: “what is the best homework help website ?,” you can check out our article on those here! [LINK COMING SOON]
What’s the Difference Between a Homework Help Website and an App?
So if they’re both designed to give you a little boost with your take-home assignments, what makes homework apps and websites different from one another? First off, homework help websites are optimized to be used on a desktop, while apps are designed to be run natively on mobile devices. So depending on which devices you have access to, you may decide to use a website instead of an app…or vice versa!
The other big difference between homework help apps and websites is that they sometimes offer different features. For instance, with the Photomath app, you’ll be able to submit photos of math problems instead of having to type everything out, which is easier to do by using an app on your phone.
If you’re trying to decide whether to go with a website or app, the good news is that you may not have to. Some homework help websites also have companion apps, so you can have the best of both worlds!
What Makes a Homework Help App Worth Using
Apps that help you with homework should ideally help you actually learn the material you’re struggling with, and/or help you turn in your work on time. Most of the best apps for homework help allow you to ask questions and provide answers and explanations almost immediately. And like we mentioned earlier, many of these apps let you send a picture of a question or problem instead of writing it all out.
But homework help apps offer more than just quick answers and explanations for your assignment questions. They also offer things like educational videos, lectures, tutorials, practice tests and quizzes, math solving tools, proofreading services, and even Q&A with experts.
And the best part is, most offer these services 24/7!
What You Should Look Out For
When it comes to homework help, there are lots–and we mean lots –of apps willing to prey on desperate students. Before you download any apps (and especially before you pay to sign up for any services), read reviews of the app to ensure you’re working with a legitimate company.
Keep in mind: the more a company advertises help that seems like cheating, the more likely it is to be a scam. Actual subject matter experts aren’t likely to work with those companies. Remember, the best apps for homework help are going to help you learn the concepts needed to successfully complete your homework on your own.
If you’re not sure if an app is legitimate, you can also check to see if the app has an honor code about using their services ethically , like this one from Brainly. (We’ll go over the difference between “homework help” and “cheating” in more detail a little later!)
How Expensive Are Apps That Help You With Homework?
A word to the wise: just because a homework help app costs money doesn’t mean it’s a good service. And, just because a homework help app is free doesn’t mean the help isn’t high quality. To find the best apps, you have to take a close look at the quality and types of information they provide!
Most of the apps out there allow you to download them for free, and provide at least some free services–such as a couple of free questions and answers. Additional services or subscriptions are then charged as in-app purchases. When it comes to in-app purchases and subscriptions for homework help, the prices vary depending on the amount of services you want to subscribe to. Subscriptions can cost anywhere from $2 to around $60 dollars per month, with the most expensive app subscriptions including some tutoring (which is usually only available through homework help websites.)
The 5 Best Apps for Homework Help
Okay, now that you’re up to speed on what these apps are and how they can help you, we’ll run you through the best five apps you can use.
Keep in mind that even though we recommend all of these apps, they tend to excel at different things. We’ve broken these apps into categories so that you can pick the best one for your needs!
Best Free Homework Help App: Khan Academy
- Price: Free!
- Best for: Practicing tough material
While there are lots of free homework help apps out there, this is our favorite because it actually supports learning, rather than just providing answers. The Khan Academy app works like the website, and offers the same services. It’s full of information and can be personalized to suit your educational needs.
After you download the app, you choose which courses you need to study, and Khan Academy sets up a personal dashboard of instructional videos, practice exercises, and quizzes –with both correct and incorrect answer explanations–so you can learn at your own pace.
As an added bonus, it covers more course topics than many other homework help apps, including several AP classes.
Best Paid Homework Help App: Brainly
- Price: $18 for a 6 month subscription, $24 for a year
- Best for: 24/7 homework assistance
Brainly is free to download and allows you to type in questions (or snap a pic) and get answers and explanations from both fellow students and teachers. Plus, subject matter experts and moderators verify answers daily, so you know you’re getting quality solutions! The downside is that you’re limited to two free answers per question and have to watch ads for more if you don’t pay for a subscription.
That said, their subscription fees average around only $2 per month, making this a particularly affordable option if you’re looking for homework help on a budget. Brainly subscriptions not only cover unlimited answers and explanations on a wide variety of school subjects (including Art and World Languages which aren’t always included in other apps), they also provide tutoring in Math and Physics!
Best App for Math Homework Help: Photomath
- Price: Free (or up to $59.99 per year for premium services)
- Best for: Explaining solutions to math problems
This app allows you to take a picture of a math problem, and instantly pulls up a step-by-step solution, as well as a detailed explanation of the concept. Photomath subscription services also include animated videos that break down mathematical concepts–all the way up to advanced Calculus!--to help you better understand and remember them.
The basic textbook solution service is free, but for an additional fee you can get extra study tools, access to one-on-one tutoring, and additional strategies for solving common math problems.
Best App for STEM and English Homework Help: Studypool
- Price: Varies; you’ll pay for each question you submit
- Best for: Science and English homework help in one app
When it comes to apps for science and English homework help, there aren’t lots of great resources out there, much less out there all in one place. While Grammarly is a good service for proofreading, SparkNotes has some decent summaries, and Khan Academy covers science, the best of the bunch if you need help with both subjects Studypool. Instead of using lots of different apps for STEM and English help, they’re combined together here! But while Studypool has great reviews, there are some downsides as well.
The Studypool Q&A model is a little different than other homework help apps. After you create a free account, you ask questions, and tutors submit bids to answer them. You’ll be able to select the tutor–and price point–that works for you, then you’ll pay to have your homework question answered. You can also pay a small fee to access thousands of notes, lectures, and other documents that top tutors have uploaded.
The downside to Studypool is that the pricing is not transparent . There’s no way to plan for how much your homework help will cost, especially if you have lots of questions! It’s also not clear how they choose their tutors, so you’ll need to be careful when you decide who you’d like to answer your homework questions. That said, if you only need a few questions answered per month, this could be cheaper than other monthly subscription services.
Best Homework Scheduling App: MyStudyLife
- Best for: Keeping track of your schedule and deadlines
If the reason you’re looking for homework help is less about finding answers to questions and more about needing assistance with organization and time-management , MyStudyLife is a great option. This is a cross-platform planner that allows you to store your class schedule, upcoming tests, and homework assignments in the cloud so you can access it all wherever you are, and on any device.
One of the unique things about it is that it easily works for daily or weekly rotating class schedules that can get confusing, helping you keep track of when you need to finish your homework based on your changing schedule. You can get reminders for upcoming classes and assignments as well as past-due homework and any revisions you may need to do. It can even let you know when you need to start studying for a big test!
Best of all, you can actually schedule assignments and study sessions for multiple nights, and specify how much of the task you got done each night. That way you’ll know how much additional time you’ll need to spend!
While homework apps might seem like magic, it's important to weigh the pros and cons before you commit to one.
What Are the Pros and Cons of Using Homework Help Apps?
Homework help apps can be useful tools if you’re struggling in any of your classes. But there are a few problems you might run into if you don’t use them ethically and responsibly.
Below we’ll cover some of the good and the not-so-good parts of using homework help apps to complete your take-home assignments.
3 Pros of Using Homework Help Apps
Let’s start with the pros of using apps for homework help.
Pro 1: All-Around Better Grades
This is undeniably the main pro and the reason apps that help you with homework are so popular with students. Not only can you potentially get better grades on individual assignments, because they help you learn tricky concepts, you can also earn better grades overall .
Just keep in mind that if you want better grades you have to actually learn the material you’re studying, not just find easy answers. So be sure to use apps that provide good explanations . That way you’ll have the mental tools you need to succeed on your class exams and on standardized tests for college.
Pro 2: Flexibility
It’s hard to beat homework help that you can access anywhere you are from your mobile device. You can also get assistance whenever you need it since the best apps offer their services 24/7. This is especially useful for students who need to study during hours when their free school resources aren’t available because of extracurriculars, jobs, or family obligations.
If you need convenient and flexible homework help or tutoring services to fit your schedule, apps can be your go-to resource.
Pro 3: Individualized Learning
Sometimes the kind of learner you are doesn’t match your teacher’s style of teaching. Or maybe the pace of a class is a little too fast or too slow for your tastes. Homework apps can help by allowing you to learn at your own speed and in ways that support your own learning style.
You can use their features, such as educational videos, 24/7 conversations with experts and peers, and tutorials to review concepts you may have forgotten. These apps can also let you dive deeper into topics or subjects you enjoy! With homework help apps, you get to choose what you need to learn and how you learn it.
3 Cons of Using Homework Help Apps
Next, let’s look at the cons of homework help apps.
Con 1: Questionable Info
Unfortunately there are lots of less-than-reliable homework help apps out there. They might not hire actual experts in their fields to provide answers and create study tools, or they rely on user-submitted answers that they don’t verify. In those cases, you might not be getting the accurate, thorough, and up-to-date answers you need to really learn.
In addition to the possibility of running into plain-old wrong answers, even the best apps sometimes just won’t have a specific answer you need. This could be because you’re enrolled in an advanced class the app doesn’t really cover or because of the algorithm or chatbot a particular app uses.
If that’s the case , your best bet will likely be to talk to your teacher or a free tutor (if your school provides them) to get help answering your question.
Con 2: Information Overload
While having tons of information at your fingertips can be helpful, the sheer amount and variety of videos, tutorials, expert answers, and resources a homework app provides can be overwhelming . It’s also easy to get sucked into a research rabbit-hole where you learn new things but don’t actually get your work done. This is especially true for students who tend to be easily distracted.
Additionally, you may be learning to do things differently than you’ve learned them in class , which could cause problems. For example, if your math teacher asks you to solve a problem one way, but you learned to do it differently through an app, you could get confused come test time!
Con 3: Cutting Corners
There are a lot of apps out there that bill themselves as “the best app for cheating.” They allow users to type in a question or take a picture, then instantly provide an answer without any explanation of the material. Many of these are scams or provide unreliable answers, but not all. Some apps are legitimate and provide quick and easy answers that could allow you to do your whole homework assignment in minutes.
The problem is that even though taking shortcuts on homework to save time is tempting, it can keep you from really learning. The point of practicing concepts and skills is so you develop them and can access them whenever you need to. This is especially true if skills build on one another, like in a math or English class.
Sometimes s truggling with an assignment or question, trying, failing, then trying again until you succeed can help you learn difficult material. If you don’t let yourself really try, and instead take too many shortcuts, you may end up behind.
When Does “Help” Become “Cheating”?
When it comes to using homework help apps, sometimes the difference between “help” and “cheating” is really clear. For example, if you’re using an app to get answers while you’re taking a test, that’s definitely cheating . But what if you’re struggling with a math problem and need to know the correct answer so you can work backwards to learn the process? Is that “cheating” or is it “help?”
The truth is, not everyone agrees on when “help” crosses the line into “cheating .” If you’re not sure, you can always check with your teacher to see what they think about a particular type of help you want to get. That said, a general rule of thumb to keep in mind is to make sure that the assignment you turn in for credit is authentically yours . It needs to demonstrate your own thoughts and your own current abilities. Remember: the point of every homework assignment is to 1) help you learn something, and 2) show what you’ve learned.
So if you’re relying on an app to do all of the work for you, there’s a good chance using it might constitute cheating.
Think of it this way: say you’re studying for an upcoming math test, and are stumped by a few of the questions on the study guide. Even though you’ve tried and tried, you can’t seem to get the right answer because you can’t remember the steps to take. Using an app to explain the steps as you’re studying is “help.” Using the app to get answers so you can make a good homework grade is “cheating.”
The same is true for other subjects: brainstorming essay ideas with others or looking online for inspiration is “help” as long as you write the essay yourself. Having someone read it and give you feedback about what you need to change is also “help,” provided you’re the one that makes the changes later.
But copying all or part of an essay you find online or having someone write (or rewrite) the whole thing for you would be “cheating.” Ultimately, if you’re not generating your own work or learning to produce your own answers, it’s probably cheating.
5 Tips for Finding the Best Homework Help App for You
If you’re serious about using a homework help app, our expert tips can help you pick one that’s right for you and your budget!
#1: Decide What Tools You Need to Succeed
While most apps offer Q&A services, the best apps provide study tools to help you learn the material you need to learn .
For instance, if you’re a visual learner, you might need an app that provides lots of videos. If you learn best by reading, an app that provides lots of in-depth written resources might be better for you. Or, if you learn best by actually doing things, look for an app that provides practice tests and quizzes, along with explanations for correct and incorrect answers.
Before committing to an app, take a quick survey of the tools they offer users to make sure they meet your unique learning needs.
#2: Decide Which Subjects You Need to Study
Not all homework apps are created equal. One might provide tutoring in math and science, but no proofreading services to help you with writing. Another might be perfect for American History, but what you really need help with is your Spanish class. So, before you can decide which app is best for you, make sure to create a list of the subjects you need the most help in.
#3: Do Your Research
As we’ve said before, there are tons of homework apps in the app store to choose from, and the most important thing you can do is research what they offer students. Services, prices for those services, and subjects that the apps cover all vary, so it’s important that you look into your options. We’ve compiled our all-around favorite (and reliable) apps here, but it’s still a good idea to do your own research to find out what might meet your individual needs best.
#4: Learn Why People Like and Dislike the App
Maybe you’ve heard the phrase “buyer beware?” It means that the person buying something should check for quality before actually handing over their money. This applies to both free and paid homework apps, but especially those that actually cost money.
Before you download anything, be sure to read the user reviews . While all apps will have both positive and negative reviews, you want to look for one that has more positive than negative. And if you’re considering paying for a service, be sure that users think it’s worth the price overall!
#5: Budget Yourself
If you find a paid app that provides the learning tools you need, covers the subjects you need to study, and that has good reviews overall, set a budget to pay for it before you hit that “install” button. The costs for paid homework apps vary, and especially if you’re using one that requires you to pay for individual questions or services, the prices can add up quickly. So make sure there’s money for it in your budget before you commit!

What is Brainly and How Can It Be Used to Teach? Tips & Tricks
Brainly is a community-based question-and-answer website designed for students
Brainly, at its most simple, is a peer-to-peer network of questions and answers. The idea is to help students with homework questions by using others who may have already answered that question.
To be clear, this isn't a set of answers laid out or a group of professionals giving answers. Rather, this is an open forum-style space in which students can post a question and, hopefully, get an answer from the community of others in education.
The platform, unlike some of the competition out there from the likes of Chegg or Preply, is free to use -- although there is a subscription-based ad-free version, but more on that below.
So could Brainly be of use to students right now?
What is Brainly?
Brainly has been around since 2009, but with all that went on in 2020, it saw a massive 75% surge in growth and got more than $80 million in funding and now has 250+ million users. Point being, it's now more useful than ever as it has more people to answer questions and more already populated answers.
Everything is anonymous, allowing users to question and answer with interactions that are safe and secure. This is aimed at a wide range of ages, from middle school right up to college students.
The spectrum of areas covered include traditional subjects such as math, physics, and languages, however it also covers medicine, law, SAT help, advanced placement, and more.

Crucially, everything is moderated by a team of volunteers that includes teachers and other users. This is all an honor code system, which makes it clear that answers must be only published if you have the rights to do so from the textbooks or course material.
How does Brainly work?
Brainly is very easy to use as anyone can sign up to get going -- but need not even do that. You can post a question right away to see if there are any answers already available.
When an answer is provided, it is then possible to give a star rating based on the quality of the response. The idea being that it can be easy to find the best answer in a bunch, at a glance. This also lets students build their profile rating so you can spot when an answer is given by someone who is well thought of for giving helpful responses.
The site offers assistance to those answering questions with tips on how to give a helpful response -- not that this is always adhered to, based on some answers you can find on the site.
A leaderboard encourages students to leave answers, as they earn points for giving helpful answers and getting star ratings for better responses. All of which helps to keep the site fresh and the content vital.
What are the best Brainly features?
Brainly uses a green check mark to show answers that have been verified by the Brainly subject experts so you can rely on that as being more accurate than some others might be.
The honor code strictly prohibits cheating and plagiarism, which aims to stop students gaining direct answers to exam questions, for example. Although in reality, the filters in place here don't always seem to catch everything -- at least not right away.
The private chat feature can be a useful way of getting more depth on an answer from another user. Since many answers are top line, and simply speed up the homework process, it's useful to have the option to dig a little deeper.
Teacher and parent accounts can be useful as these allow for a clear view of how students are progressing, with many areas that they struggle with being clear from their search history.
The only major issue is with the answers that are less accurate. But thanks to an ability to upvote answers, this does help to sort the quality from the rest.
All that said, this is very much like Wikipedia, to be taken with a pinch of salt and students should be made aware of this before using the site.
How much does Brainly cost?
Brainly is free to use but also offers a premium version that does away with the ads.
The Free account gets you access to all the questions and answers, and allows parents and teachers to create a paired account so they can see what their young ones are searching.
The Brainly Plus account is charged at $18 every six months or at $24 for the year and will do away with adverts. It also offers access to a Brainly Tutor, charged on top, to give live tutoring in math.
Brainly best tips and tricks
Teach checks Help to clarify how students should and can be checking their sources from other areas so they're not blindly believing everything they read.
Practice in class Hold an in-class Q-n-A so that students can see how answers vary wildly even for the same question, based on who is answering it.
Use the leaderboard Publish a class leaderboard to encourage students to give answers and get ratings on the website, allowing them to learn as they progress.

Is Brainly the answer to your child's homework woes?
We tested the peer-to-peer learning platform to find out.
Updated March 9, 2021
Products are chosen independently by our editors. Purchases made through our links may earn us a commission.
When was the last time you contemplated a Pythagorean theorem—or any other high school math concept, for that matter? We’re the first to admit that when it comes to helping our kids with homework, time has dulled our ability to recall arcane concepts—particularly in math and science—and has basically rendered us useless as homework helpers.
The concept of an online-peer-to-peer learning platform piqued our interest, so we—along with a couple of teachers—dove in to see just how useful Brainly is and if it’s your child’s answer to remote-learning woes.
What is Brainly?
Brainly is, essentially, a crowd-sourcing platform where users can post questions regarding their homework and get answers from anonymous users. Geared towards middle, high school, and college students, it’s a peer-to-peer crowdsourcing information site that functions similarly to Quora: A homework or test question is posed and other members can offer answers. Simple as that.
What we thought of Brainly
We spent a week using Brainly and solicited input from a high school history teacher and Advanced Placement facilitator, a college physics professor, and a high school freshman. Here is what we thought.
Posting questions is easy as posting on Facebook or Twitter.
Overall, it’s pretty easy to get started on Brainly. It’s a rapid sign-up process and, if you’re looking for answers for something specific, the search function is simple to use and gives instant gratification. We also like that you can quickly scan for verified answers, which have been vetted by Brainly expert volunteers and are determined to be correct and accurate. In terms of posting questions, it’s as easy as posting on Twitter and Facebook; you can add files for easy uploads from worksheets.
The quality of the verified answers were pretty good, however if your question doesn’t have a verified answer, there is a lot of garbage to wade through, and that’s where the site gets confusing to new users and lost points with all of the testers overall.
As a parent scanning for whether or not it's a site I'd want my child on, initial use of the site had some confusing aspects. The site is riddled with random questions that have nothing to do with school or learning, there are more incorrect answers than correct ones to wade through, and it’s initially difficult to get your bearings as a parent figuring out just how useful the site is without an actual aim or specific question at hand. If you're just coming to roam around without a clear intent, the site can look like a wasteland of random posts. However, for students who arrive with a purpose and an actual question, it's very user friendly and easy to rapidly find what you need—you just have to exercise due diligence and be ready to determine the accuracy of the answers you find.
A major bonus to this site is it's a 24/7 repository of information. If your child waited until the last minute to do their homework, no worries! There's still homework help to be found and an answer may appear for them within literal minutes. The question is, will that answer be correct and error-free? That's up for debate.
Verified answers yield the best results. Other answers are hit-or-miss.
This is where things get problematic. While the verified answers are generally correct ones, there is a whole lot of misinformation to wade through with error-laden responses, or answers that have no bearings on the original question. Since users gain points and add to their positive profile ranking for every question answered, incorrect or irrelevant answers are ostensibly posted to help the user increase their ranking on the site. This is something that Brainly works to remedy with a force of volunteer moderators, but those answers can still be up for a while before they are addressed.
Christopher Duston, a physics professor at Merrimack College in North Andover, MA, says that he looked at a variety of college-level math and physics questions and found many of the answers to be incorrect. He questions the usefulness of the site and found the number of nonsensical answers and non-subject-related interactions to be frustrating. What he did mention as a positive, however, is that you can upvote answers that are actually useful and the ease of reporting erroneous content was simple. We tested the reporting system as well and we were pleased with how effortless it was.
Luca D., a 15-year-old high school freshman in Massachusetts, says that, as a rule, he doesn’t post questions to Brainly, for fear of getting the wrong answers. He has used the site for a while now but says he only uses it to search for basic information, and then he cross-references the answers he finds to verify accuracy.
“I wouldn’t say that the quality of the answers is all that great. You have to go in with an amount of critical thinking and you have to have some knowledge of a subject, otherwise you can find some pretty bad answers,” he says, adding that, for most people he knows, Brainly is a place for copy and pasting. He says “it’s not a place that inspires critical thinking,” but he does find it useful as a jumping off point.
Educational benefits
Sometimes questions are less than academic.
A quick run through and we found users talking about dating preferences, asking to meet new people on Zoom, and posting discount codes for sunglass purchases. For better or for worse, students are using this as a new social networking opportunity—and that’s important for parents to know. While you may think your kids are spending time crowdsourcing for answers to their French homework, they may actually be connecting with faceless strangers online.
We asked Jakub Piwnik, communications director at Brainly, how the site plans to address issues like this. He says that the company relies greatly on a diverse group of Brainly volunteers to help vet information and ensure that it’s a safe environment for users. He says non-education-based activity makes up “a fractional percentage of platform engagement” and that most questions not related to study are promptly removed from the platform
“Brainly volunteers are a… diverse group, comprised mostly of students, but also include current and former educators as well—all united by a passion for education. They support our community… and [help] moderate content when it falls outside our guidelines. Our volunteers embody the spirit of learning and helpfulness that drives our community," says Piwnik.
Is it worth it?
Overall grade: C+ Brainly has a noble goal to be a helpful resource for a diverse group of learners and it's filling a much-needed niche, however we wouldn't say it's an online gathering of intellectualism quite yet. It's a useful site and, as it grows, we are hopeful it will work out the kinks, but—as it currently functions—I'd be wary of my child using it as a dependable place for answers or educational growth.
Annmarie Stackhouse, a high school history teacher and an Advanced Placement facilitator in Gloucester, MA, says that, in terms of using the site for what it’s actually meant for, she’s wary of “honor code”, which cautions against plagiarism—both in posts and with users taking information from the site.
“If people are giving answers it is my experience as a veteran teacher that most will copy and paste that answer without changing it,” she says. “I may sign up as a teacher just to see if my kids are cheating.”

Brainly AI Features
Here are the best Brainly AI features to help you study, supervise students, and monitor your child’s learning progress:
User Interface and Experience
The UI has a bit of a learning curve . You’ll have to spend some time to understand all the interface options and functionalities.
If you use any of the top menu links to browse the different sections, you always need to click the Brainly icon in the top-left corner to come back to the question-answer screen.
The Textbook Solutions feature, which you’ll often use, is hidden inside the extended See more menu.
Accessing your questions and answers is also a bit of a challenge. Suppose, you’ve just posted a question and reloaded the page or closed it.
You won’t see the question anymore until someone posts an answer. The tool notifies you in the Notifications center though.
If you wish to see all your content, you must go to the View profile menu by clicking your account avatar in the top right corner. Now, you can easily access the links to previously posted content.
This complicated user interface navigation might worsen your user experience with Brainly AI. You must remember a few interface menus and buttons to effectively use the tool.
Therefore, if you invest some time in learning the tool, it’s a suitable AI to help you with homework and exam prep.
Extensive Subject Coverage
Brainly AI is optimized for 21 popular middle and high school subjects. These include Mathematics , History , English , Biology , Chemistry , Physics , and more.
However, curated answers to questions posted in all these subjects are limited.
For example, I scrolled through all the posted questions in the SAT category but couldn’t find any answers for inquiries that are more than 1 week old.
If you need to use the Ask AI feature for all such unanswered questions, it’s better to use ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot . That’s because Brainly AI is also using a GPT model equivalent to popular AI chatbots.
Ask a Question
There are multiple ways to submit a query in the Brainly app. You can use its top search field or the search bar on the home screen.
However, it’s much better if you post your question by selecting the relevant discipline from the Subjects navigation panel.
When you submit a query, you also get relevant questions below your post. So, you can browse those to find quick answers instead of waiting.
If there are expert-reviewed answers to your queries, you’ll see the Verified Answer tag. Try to follow such content instead of going for unverified answers.
There are votes, stars, and likes in all the question-answer posts . Access the content that has the best rating.
Ask Ginny AI
Brainly also lets you use a pre-trained artificial intelligence homework helper. It’s called Ginny AI . The link to access its functionalities is available in the following areas:
- As the Ask AI button in the main Search field.
- In the form of the See Full Answer button below the posted answers to a question.
- As the Ask AI link in all the posted questions on Brainly.
The AI works in two ways. Firstly, you can open a dedicated AI conversation window from which you can interact with the AI with text and images.
Secondly, you can create an instant expansion of already available answers in the questions portal. These AI-generated responses are shown as snippets.
I tested the AI with a question of mathematics. I also included a typo in the question, which students do commonly.
Then, I compared the results with that of the ChatGPT.
The result generated by Brainly’s AI is far better than ChatGPT. It’s because the developers have particularly trained the Ginny AI to solve academic inquiries.
Math Solver and Scan to Solve
Getting expert assistance to solve arithmetic, algebra, statistics, calculus, etc., is more challenging than text-based topics. That’s because submitting a math problem with equations and symbols is highly complex.
To resolve this bottleneck, Brainly has empowered its AI with OCR technology from Microsoft . Its Math Solver module is specifically trained to handle mathematics-related questions .
Using the Scan to Solve button on iOS or Android, you can upload a picture of the mathematical problem you’re trying to solve. The Math Solver module will use OCR to understand the printed or written equation and convert it into natural language for the user and machine language for the AI.
For the web app users, Brainly has added an image attachment functionality to the Ginny AI conversation console.
I used the above example of a printed graph equation to find out the performance of the Math Solver and Scan to Solve features.
The Math Solver tool accurately translated the image into text:
Then, I used Ginny AI to solve the equation. The AI homework tool was able to accurately solve the problem.
Brainly Tutor
If you’re one of those students or parents who are open to AI assistance but want to verify its answers with a subject matter expert, Brainly Tutor is just for you.
Just below the generative AI content in Ginny AI, you get the option to discuss the problem with an expert from Brainly.
Brainly maintains a pool of talented tutors for popular subjects like Biology, Math, Chemistry, and Physics . However, the one-to-one discussion is limited to 20 instances per month .
This feature isn’t open to the Brainly Basic and Plus subscribers . You have to buy the Brainly Tutor plan to use it.
A small drawback of this feature is you can’t directly ask a question to one of the Brainly tutors . You must use the Ginny AI first.
Alternatively, you can post the inquiry on the board and then use the Ask AI option to generate a response. Then, you get the option to speak to a tutor.
Textbook Solutions
In this section, you’ll find textbooks with solved answers for practice questions . The solutions also include tips, explanations, and so on.
This feature is the perfect homework assistant when you’re stuck on a textbook question and can’t get to an expert for help.
Here’s how you can find the textbook you’ve been looking for in Brainly AI:
- Searching its title or ISBN .
- Apply school-level filters like Elementary School , Middle School , etc.
- Use grade filters like 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 12th, etc.
- Switch between subjects .
- Apply topics-level filters like All topics , Applied Math , Algebra , Trigonometry , etc.
Test Prep is an AI-powered mock test paper generator so you can exercise before the actual exam.
Its AI is connected to the knowledge base of Brainly AI . It’s also linked to the Textbook Solutions library . Therefore, the tool can create more accurate and elaborate test papers than its competitors, like Oddity AI.
All you need to do is choose a test topic and add the next test date to the tool’s calendar. Then, you must provide at least one question relevant to the test.
For example, I wanted to create a mock test paper on organic chemistry. So, I entered a sample question, “ What are functional groups in organic chemistry? “.
The Test Prep tool took time to analyze the input and create a question paper comprising 6 exercises.
Customer Support
Brainly AI only offers an AI chatbot for primary support and email assistance for more complex inquiries.
To get support, you can either click the Submit a request form or the AI chatbot icon in the bottom right corner of the Brainly Help Center portal.
I initiated a chat with the AI support bot. The experience is okay for basic answers. However, when questions go beyond its training model, it refers the issue to an email support team.
I also asked for a human chat agent, but it couldn’t provide one . This means that there’s no live customer support team on the text channel.
I also submitted a ticket from the help portal. I received a reply within 3 to 4 hours .
How to Use Brainly AI
You can click the Join For Free button on the Brainly.AI website to sign up for a free account using Google, Apple, or Facebook .
If you download the app on an iOS or Android device, the app shall ask you to sign up using any of the above accounts to get started.
Now that you’ve signed up and logged in to the Brainly app, find below how you can use it to get answers to a homework or exam prep question:
- Click on the Brainly icon at the top left corner of the web app to access the What do you need to know? section.
- Go to the Subjects navigation panel on the left side and click on the item relevant to your question.
- Now, click on the Ask Your Question button on the right side of the Subjects section.
- You’ll see the form to submit a question. Write down your query in the relevant field.
- You can use icons like Symbols and Equations to add the relevant characters to your query.
- If you’ve got a printed or hand-written question, take a picture of it and upload it to the form using the Add attachments button.
- Click the Ask Your Question button to submit the query.
- You’ll now see the question in the Brainly portal.
- If someone posts an answer, you’ll see it below the question.
- The homework assistance AI also sends notifications if you’re not on the questions page.
Suppose you’ve searched for a question in the Brainly AI app and an expert has answered the query. However, you want to study the topic in-depth. In this case, you can use the Ginny AI to expand upon the original answer.
Access the answer in question and click on the See Full Answer button below the AI-generated answer section.
Within a second or two, you’ll find an explanation of the question generated by the AI.
Now let’s say you posted a question hours ago. You’re waiting but no one is answering the query. In this scenario, go back to the question and click the Ask AI button to get an AI-generated answer instantly.
You’ll see the Ginny AI Tutor interface. There, you’ll see a conversation panel where you can type questions for the AI to answer.
Copy and paste the question in the chat box and hit the Send button.
Within a few seconds, the AI homework helper will generate an appropriate response for you.
If your questions or math equations are in printed form, click the Image attachment button to upload the scanned copy of your document.
Ginny AI will use optical character recognition technology to read the scanned document and produce an answer.
Brainly AI Pricing
The subscription plans for Brainly AI vary extensively with the platform where you want to use it. I’ve simplified the pricing plan below:
1. Brainly Basic ($0.00): This is the free trial package that gives you limited access to the AI homework assistance app via browser. You can use the Math Solver , Snap to Solve , and Ask a Question features only a few times. There will also be ads on both the web and mobile apps.
2. Brainly Plus ($10.00/ month): This is an ad-free subscription to the web app. Also, you can access expert-verified and moderated answers for all the queries in Ask a Question . The Ginny AI gives you personalized learning paths, mock questions, and answers based on your Brainly AI usage.
3. Brainly Tutor ($29.00/ month): It comes with all the subscription benefits you get in the Brainly Plus plan. Additionally, you can enjoy the following premium services:
- Dedicated AI tutors for various subjects.
- Live expert support by Brainly AI’s in-house teams 24/7 available.
- You can ask 20 questions a month on math and science to get live answers.
4. Brainly Google Play: You can find various in-app purchases in the Android app ranging from $0.30 to $114.00 .
5. Brainly App Store: If you wish to subscribe to Brainly Plus on an iPhone, it would cost you $9.99/ month or $39.99/ year . On the other hand, if you buy Brainly Tutor, you’ll need to pay $29.99 for one month and $95.99 for the whole year.
At the time of review, I couldn’t find any refund guidelines for the subscription to the web app. So, try out the free trial edition before buying. You can only cancel the subscription to stop auto-renewal in the next month or year.
However, for the App Store and Google Play purchases, you can contact the respective support channels to request refunds.
Brainly AI Review – The Verdict
Brainly AI is a reliable app to get homework and exam prep assistance. However, its user interface could’ve been more minimalistic and straightforward.
But if you don’t mind getting used to the app the first few days, I recommend you go for it. Brainly AI serves its purpose perfectly, with accurate responses and high-quality features.

Brainly, a crowdsourced homework helper for students, raises $30M to expand in the US
When it comes to turning the wheels of the internet, crowdsourcing is a key component of the engine: the power of people can fund big ideas and good causes; it can help you decide what (or what not) to buy, read, watch or listen to when faced with too much choice; it can help unite opinion; or it can aid in misleading us.
Now, a startup founded in Poland using crowdsourcing for information gathering and e-learning is announcing a growth round of funding. Brainly , a Quora-style platform that helps students find and contribute answers to typical homework questions in subjects like math, history, science and social studies, is announcing that it has raised $30 million in funding — money that speaks to the momentum both of the company and the concept.
The funding was led by Naspers, which was also an investor in the company’s $14 million round in 2017 , with participation also from Runa Capital and Manta Ray. It brings the total raised by the company to $68.5 million. Valuation is not being disclosed, including whether this was an up or down round. For some context, the company was estimated to have a post-money valuation of $134 million in its last round, per PitchBook .
It’s likely that number is up: Brainly currently has 150 million users in 35 markets, growing 50% from 2018, when it had 100 million users. And the company is now turning its focus to a lucrative market for e-learning. The plan — according to CEO and co-founder Michał Borkowski — will be to use some of the funds to help the company break into the U.S., which today only accounts for about 10 million of its user base, but in total has some 76 million students overall.
He added that another area of focus will be monetization. The company today operates a freemium-style service, where the majority of users do not pay to access the site but in turn get served ads, while others choose to pay $3 per month for more features and no ads. Borkowski would not say how many paying users the company has today.
Brainly’s focus — to become a reliable and helpful network for students when they get stuck on a problem in their homework — was surprisingly an area that hadn’t really been tapped when Brainly was founded in 2009. Borkowski said that he and his co-founders — Lukasz Haluch and Tomasz Kraus — came up with the idea when they were already in college. “We would have loved to have had something like this in high school,” he recalled. (Brainly’s original name in Poland when it started out was “Zadane,” which means homework.)
Reliable is the key word here. There may not be many apps on the market today directly competing with Brainly; there is the wider internet and specifically Google, where you can enter anything from natural language questions to actual equations to get answers and explanations of those answers.
The problem today is that you also can get a lot of irrelevant or incorrect or incomplete information in those searches, too, and that is the opportunity for Brainly: to provide a more curated selection of responses specifically to the kinds of questions that students might come across in their homework.
That’s not to say that Brainly is perfect today. In my quick test of searching on a few topics in history and math, I saw a mixed bag of results, some accurate and some obviously plagiarised and some just wrong.
Borkowski said that the company uses a few levers to moderate questions and answers: users can report incorrect information, a team of human moderators also assess reported and other content and there are algorithms that scan recently uploaded questions and answers. (Contributing is unpaid, but regular contributors get invited into a program where they are paid to provide answers, he said.) Borkowski wouldn’t specify what the “strike rate” was for legit postings versus those that needed to be modified or removed, but presumably as Brainly continues to grow, the need to manage the quality of the platform’s content will only grow, too.
There are a lot of opportunities for how Brainly might shape its product over time: for example, specific markets often have core curricula that students will learn, and standardised tests that they are being taught to take (AP exams in the U.S., for example; or GCSEs and A-levels in the U.K.). Systematically working on making sure that Brainly covers those comprehensively could make it a really coveted and used app for students taking those classes and preparing for those exams.
Another is doubling down on the company’s global remit. A lot of e-learning has been focused around English, and it’s notable that Brainly has been working across a number of other languages, too, from Polish and Russian to Spanish and a number of Asian languages. This gives the company an opportunity not just to expand its user base, but its usefulness in educational initiatives globally.
“We have been impressed by Brainly’s growth over the past 10 years, particularly in the U.S. and high-growth markets like India, Indonesia, Turkey and Brazil,” said Larry Illg, CEO of Naspers Ventures, in a statement. “At Naspers, we back companies seeking to address big societal needs like education, helping them fulfill their vision with the ultimate aim of achieving global scale. Brainly has the potential to serve the needs of hundreds of millions of students around the world and Michał and the team are building an invaluable service for learners everywhere.”
