TOTAL TRANSPARENCY

The TH 6.5 II Sax was born from a blank sheet with the aim of overcoming all the limits dictated by compromise-oriented design choices. This philosophy allowed us to obtain extreme performance and a design projected into the future, faithful to the inspiring principle of maximum transparency of the musical message. 

MAXIMUM LINEARITY, MINIMUM INDUCTANCE, EXCELLENT VENTILATION

The magnetic circuit uses a N48 “H-grade” Neodymium magnet that releases a very high quantity of energy and is ultra stable in temperature, ensuring an unparalleled dynamic.  The geometry of the magnetic group has been optimized through a finite element simulation software to maximize efficiency by concentrating the magnetic field in the gap.  A great deal of research has been carried out to reduce the modulation of the voice coil inductance by magnetically saturating the motor pole and using an aluminium short-circuit ring that also allows a greater extension towards the mid frequencies.

TOTAL ABSENCE OF MECHANICAL COMPRESSION

The development of the suspension system, a crucial element for each transducer, required a long research work: the development team created computational models to simulate every aspect of the multi-physical behavior of the loudspeaker.  The spider was designed thanks to a long series of mechanical simulations performed to define its structure: a large elastic surface with 5 waves, ensuring an improved distribution of the elastic force ; waves profile and gluing optimized to obtain the best symmetry in the voice coil and basket connection areas ; spider composition made of a mix of two fibers to achieve the best elastic linearity , without mechanical compression effects even at high excursion levels.

Like the spider, the surround was also designed using mechanical simulations. The result is guaranteed by: use of natural rubber IIR; profile optimized to ensure wide excursion; maximization of linear elastic behavior without mechanical compression effects.

TOTAL ABSENCE OF THERMAL COMPRESSION

The 50 mm mobile coil in CCAR (Copper Clad Aluminum Ribbon) , wound with flat wire to obtain a very compact winding, maximizes the force factor and at the same time allows for optimal heat dissipation.

TOTAL ABSENCE OF AERODYNAMIC COMPRESSION

The mechanical structure of the TH 6.5 II is a perfect combination of design and performance. The aluminium alloy basket incorporates all the components ensuring high precision in the various couplings. The structure featuring four pairs of spokes allows for solidity and damping of the vibrations offering very low resistance to the cone air flow. The wide spider distributes the elastic load optimally. A generously sized hole, protected by a filter cloth, prevents air compression phenomena under the spider, eliminating deleterious resonance at medium frequencies.  The central opening in the bottom-plate ensures optimal decompression of the air column inside the voice coil and the output expanded material diffuses the turbulences and protects it from ingoing foreign bodies.

The TH 6.5 II sax was born from a blank sheet with the aim of overcoming all the limits dictated by compromise-oriented design choices. This philosophy allowed us to obtain extreme performance and a design projected into the future, faithful to the inspiring principle of maximum transparency of the musical message.

MAXIMUM LINEARITY, MINIMUM INDUCTANCE, EXCELLENT VENTILATION

The magnetic circuit uses a N48 “H-grade” Neodymium magnet that releases a very high quantity of energy and is ultra stable in temperature, ensuring an unparalleled dynamic.  The geometry of the magnetic group has been optimized through a finite element simulation software to maximize efficiency by concentrating the magnetic field in the gap.  A great deal of research has been carried out to reduce the modulation of the voice coil inductance by magnetically saturating the motor pole and using an aluminium short-circuit ring that also allows a greater extension towards the mid frequencies.

TOTAL ABSENCE OF MECHANICAL COMPRESSION

The development of the suspension system, a crucial element for each transducer, required a long research work: the development team created computational models to simulate every aspect of the multi-physical behavior of the loudspeaker.  The spider was designed thanks to a long series of mechanical simulations performed to define its structure: a large elastic surface with 5 waves, ensuring an improved distribution of the elastic force ; waves profile and gluing optimized to obtain the best symmetry in the voice coil and basket connection areas ; spider composition made of a mix of two fibers to achieve the best elastic linearity , without mechanical compression effects even at high excursion levels.

Like the spider, the surround was also designed using mechanical simulations. The result is guaranteed by: use of natural rubber IIR; profile optimized to ensure wide excursion; maximization of linear elastic behavior without mechanical compression effects.

TOTAL ABSENCE OF THERMAL COMPRESSION

The 50 mm mobile coil in CCAR (Copper Clad Aluminum Ribbon) , wound with flat wire to obtain a very compact winding, maximizes the force factor and at the same time allows for optimal heat dissipation.

TOTAL ABSENCE OF AERODYNAMIC COMPRESSION

The mechanical structure of the TH 6.5 II is a perfect combination of design and performance. The aluminium alloy basket incorporates all the components ensuring high precision in the various couplings. The structure featuring four pairs of spokes allows for solidity and damping of the vibrations offering very low resistance to the cone air flow. The wide spider distributes the elastic load optimally. A generously sized hole, protected by a filter cloth, prevents air compression phenomena under the spider, eliminating deleterious resonance at medium frequencies. The central opening in the bottom-plate ensures optimal decompression of the air column inside the voice coil and the output expanded material diffuses the turbulences and protects it from ingoing foreign bodies.

Transparency, a direct inheritance of the HV venti, is the principle that inspired the creation of Thesis speakers, born with the ambitious goal of giving voice to the pure musical message of Thesis electronics. The search for the best acoustic result was based on overcoming the intrinsic limits of traditional loudspeakers. Through a finite element simulation software (FEM) conceived by the Audison R&D team, a mathematical model was developed, which they used to create, with an intense prototyping activity, the ideal transducer.

The best woofers in the world are... hmmm... I don't know. Everyone has a different ear for sound. But I don't think I'd argue if someone said these are the 2nd best... GLWS  

How low can these realistically play?  

They can play down to 40Hz. But they are an SQ driver (like an Esotar 650)... so their main intent / design isn't to play low. Realistically, in everyday use, with playing at volume, they could probably do 65Hz without too much trouble.

Are these better than the GB60s?  

Better in what way? What are you looking for? In my opinion; these are a better speaker than the GB60 - from an SQ perspective. But, it's kinda like asking; is a Ferrari better than a Lamborghini ... everybody has their preference.  

Just want to add my 2 cents here, because I had trepidation when I was considering stepping up to this price range speaker, and assume the same exists for others as well... So I have had these installed now for a few months and they have exceeded my expectations. They are articulate, musical, meticulously crafted, and handle 45-50hz with a smile (properly tuned) if needed with appropriate power supply. I am running a quality 250rms to each and they swallow it up without issue. I was initially skeptical about price vs performance with these....but not anymore. If I personally had another higher level budget build to do...I would buy these right now myself, for whatever this amateur's review is worth!  

Yeah I’ve seen objective testing on the thesis and they have exceptionally flat frequency response… and I like the poly cones! The paper V1s were amazing also but I’ve always liked poly cones ever since owning Dynaudio…  

Saturday bump ya know, these are priced so that someone could buy them, try them and (God forbid) resell them and not lose any money...

The TH 6.5 sax captures the listener with its sound quality, timbre accuracy and impulsive response. The X-pulp cone, produced using cellulose pulp and a glass fibre mesh, provides the highest rigidity with the warm and detailed sound typical of cellulose. The high precision mechanical parts were created by machining solid one piece material, including a REN (Rare Earth Neodymium) magnet. The spider was designed thanks to a long series of mechanical simulations performed to define its structure: a large elastic surface with 5 waves, ensuring an improved distribution of the elastic force; waves profile and gluing optimized to obtain the best symmetry in the voice coil and basket connection areas; spider composition made of a mix of two fibers to achieve the best elastic linearity, without mechanical compression effects even at high excursion levels.

Like the spider, the surround was also designed using mechanical simulations. The result is guaranteed by: use of natural rubber IIR; profile optimized to ensure wide excursion; maximization of linear elastic behavior without mechanical compression effects.

Total Absence of Thermal Compression

The 50 mm mobile coil in CCAR (Copper Clad Aluminum Ribbon), wound with flat wire to obtain a very compact winding, maximizes the force factor and at the same time allows for optimal heat dissipation.

Total Absence of Aerodynamic Compression

The mechanical structure of the TH 6.5 II is a perfect combination of design and performance. The aluminium alloy basket incorporates all the components ensuring high precision in the various couplings. The structure featuring four pairs of spokes allows for solidity and damping of the vibrations offering very low resistance to the cone air flow.

The wide spider distributes the elastic load optimally. A generously sized hole, protected by a filter cloth, prevents air compression phenomena under the spider, eliminating deleterious resonance at medium frequencies. The central opening in the bottom-plate ensures optimal decompression of the air column inside the voice coil and the output expanded material diffuses the turbulences and protects it from ingoing foreign bodies.

Audison TH 6.5 II Sax

Designing a speaker for performance without compromise is a very complex under taking. Not only does cone geometry need to be spot on, its components require engineering to the highest degree. Surround and Spider construction needs to control the movement of the cone without any distortion or mechanical compression. The voce coil needs to be able to work efficiently and dissipate large amounts of heat generated at high levels without changing the electro mechanical performance. The highest possible efficiency is required to allow every nuance of music to be clearly defined and heard. This means low level sound should sit alongside high level sounds without being lost or distorted in anyway. The toughest of brief's for any manufacturer and we can think of no other as capable of realising it as Audison. In this product, the devil is very much in the meticulous detail. A mere list of electrical specifications and mechanical materials used only scratches the surface. This exceptional product needs to be heard to be believed!
