An offspring of The MIT Media Lab and the Harvard School of Education, the Creative Learning Company team includes artists, educators, researchers, designers, and technologists with decades of experience working on creative learning projects with schools, community groups, and businesses from around the world.

Rachel Garber, Director M.Ed Founder, Creative Learning Company

Rachel is an educator with 25+ years of experience working with young people, volunteers, teachers, and parents in both public school and community-based educational programs. She has a passion for infusing creativity into learning and exposing children to new opportunities to help them discover their potential.  She has worked closely with organizations such as MIT Media Lab's Lifelong Kindergarten Group, The Clubhouse Network, Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and Boston Public Schools. She specializes in program development, curriculum design, and professional development for children and adults.

Leo Burd PhD Co-founder Creative Learning Company

Leo is interested in the design of innovative technologies and approaches for creative learning and social empowerment. With a PhD from the MIT Media Lab, Leo co-directs the Brazilian Creative Learning Network, an organization that brings together thousands of teachers, artists, researchers, decision-makers, families, and students from all over Brazil to support and promote more creative and relevant public education for all.

Outside of MIT, Leo has worked for groups such as the World Bank, Microsoft, and the Brazilian government. He has also coordinated a non-profit organization that builds "computer and citizenship" schools in Sao Paulo slums, and was a key contributor to several international initiatives that foster technology and education innovation for youth empowerment.

Mariana Tamashiro M.Sc 

Mariana is interested in designing creative and meaningful learning experiences, using technology as a medium for expression. She graduated from the University of Sao Paulo with a Bachelor of Science in Design. In 2017, she joined MIT Media Lab as a visiting student to work on her undergraduate final project, "Design Principles for Creative Learning." She holds a master degree in Creative Technologies & Design from the University of Colorado Boulder. Currently, she is a PhD fellow and research assistant at the Center for Computational Thinking and Design at Aarhus University in Denmark.  

Natalie Catlett M.A.Ed

Natalie Catlett is an illustrator, educator, and edupreneur.  A firm believer in the transformative power of the arts in education, Natalie's passion is to find ways for students and teachers to experience their imaginative and creative capabilities every day. She graduated from Pratt Institute with a BFA in Communications Design, obtained her master's degree in Art Education at Tufts University, a master's degree from The University of Pennsylvania in Education Entrepreneurship. Before shifting into education, Natalie worked in children's animation and publishing industries. Natalie has been teaching both art and design for nearly a decade. Originally from Brazil, she has extensive experience collaborating with schools, organizations, and companies designing and executing immersive art-led learning experiences.

What if I’m a beginner? Are these for me?

Check out the beginner courses at the top of the page!

Each course has a beginner, intermediate, or advanced label. These are to give you a sense of the complexity of the features and concepts within the course.

But even if you’re just starting out, courses are structured to be clear and simple enough for anyone to follow.

Can I use the free version? Do I need Studio?

All courses can be followed using the free version of Resolve. A few features covered require Studio, they will be noted on each individual course page and within the course.

How long do I have access?

Forever! Once you buy a course, it’s yours. Your account will always have the course available.

Which devices can I use to watch the courses?

Any desktop, tablet, or mobile device that has a web browser and internet access. Course lesson videos are only available online, not downloadable.

Will the courses be updated for future Resolve versions?

Yes. Most features stay the same between Resolve releases, so every course will be relevant for years to come. If a relevant feature is added or changed, we’ll add to the course or change the outdated video.

What are the Hardware Requirements to Follow Along?

DVResolve.com is not affiliated with or sponsored by Blackmagic Design. Our instructors are certified by Blackmagic Design and we really like their software.

Do these courses give Blackmagic Design Certification?

No, they don’t. Blackmagic Design’s user certification courses are great for getting an overview of DaVinci Resolve, but they don’t cover all the real-world workflows you might need.

We have focused our courses on more specific aspects of post production so you can pick and choose what you need for your work or passion projects.

If you are studying for certification, our courses may help of course, but we don’t follow the certification curriculum.

We may add certification curriculum courses in the future. Let us know if you’d like that!

Do courses have project files or sample footage I can practice with?

Yes! All courses provide (or link to) media for you to use at no extra cost.

What languages are the courses available in?

At the moment the courses are available in English only. The videos also have English captions available. Other language captions may be added in the future.

Will there be more courses in the future?

For teaching government a thing or two about education reform. Most of us can agree that the U.S. school system is a mess: State education budgets are shrinking, while businesses’ expectations for job preparedness are ever rising. Charles Best, founder and CEO of DonorsChoose.org, is trying to make sure teachers and students have the resources to do their part. The crowdfunding nonprofit has raised $225 million to help more than 175,000 teachers fund more than 400,000 projects, from securing school supplies for the semester to helping make field trips happen. Best, formerly a public-school history teacher in the Bronx, has managed to rein in some deep-pocketed donors and partners, including Sheryl Sandberg, Stephen Colbert, and Google, which is helping Best use his site in transformative ways, such as bringing AP STEM classes to more than 330 high schools and helping entrepreneurs market new educational tools directly to classrooms. For rewriting the book on e-books. In the rush to embrace everything digital, many ed-tech companies forgot that people, not robots, are the end users. Enter Inkling, producer of lushly designed educational content for tablets and mobile phones. Last year, Inkling raised $16 million from Sequoia, among others, and signed deals with textbook giants Pearson and Elsevier to digitize its academic materials. It also opened its publishing platform, Habitat, to let publishers in-house create their own masterpieces, which founder Matt MacInnis says has helped net the company “eight figures” in revenue. True, there are other solid digitized textbooks, but with Inkling’s multimedia features–live Q&As, how-to videos, interactive quizzes–its prom-queen level of popularity is well deserved.

The 75-year-old industry stalwart might have started as a test-prep company, but it continues to evolve to keep pace with students’ changing learning habits–and the changing job market. It’s wholly embracing and developing new tech-centric curriculums: Last year, it launched a pilot program at its university’s School of Information Technology, which used the gamification platform Badgeville to boost participating students’ grades by 9%, graduated the inaugural class of its Techstars-powered education startup accelerator, launched a boot camp for aspiring Ruby on Rails web developers, and–in its most strategic, and perhaps preemptive, move–acquired Grockit, the notable online test-prep service that recently logged on its one millionth user.

4. Genspace and BioCurious

For letting the everyman explore the hidden corners of science. Community laboratories like Genspace, based in Brooklyn, New York, and BioCurious, based in Sunnyvale, California, are attracting biotech hackers interested in bridging the gulf that separates synthetic biology researchers from, well, everyone else. For a $100 monthly membership fee (which defrays the cost of running the lab), DIY geneticists can tinker with a vortexer, an ultrasonic bath, and gel electrophoresis to create cool experiments like glow-in-the-dark plants, wormlike creatures that crave butter, and robots that can do your pipetting for you. “It is science for the people,” says Genspace cofounder and executive director Ellen Jorgensen.

5. LearnZillion

For understanding that teaching starts with teacher education. Founded in 2011 by a charter school chief and a McKinsey consultant, LearnZillion charges districts to supply teachers and students with five-minute mini-lessons based on the Common Core State Standards initiative–designed to align states’ curriculums–and delivered by master teachers. Students can use LearnZillion to review class material, but equally as important, teachers can use it to get ideas for their own classes and to study videos to improve their teaching methods. The company has about 120,000 registered teachers (and adds 5,000 new teachers every week) and reaches about 1.4 million students. LearnZillion, a favorite of ed-tech enthusiast Bill Gates, has also formed alliances with Washington, D.C., and Syracuse, New York, public school systems.

For using data to learn the way students learn. Adaptive learning is what good teachers have done since the dawn of time: When a student gets a question wrong, the teacher figures out where their knowledge failed and builds from that base. Now imagine that seemingly simple but complex process controlled by a series of computer algorithms, and you have the secret of Knewton, the former test-prep company that is fast achieving dominance in the digital learning space. Knewton has signed deals with textbook giants like Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and Macmillan to add an adaptive-learning layer to their content, and the company now boasts more than a million students from kindergarten through college as users of its technology. Unlike regular schooling, where learning can be limited by class size, the more Knewton users the better: When students use the platform, Knewton collects data on their progress and uses those analytics to weed out weaker questions in favor of stronger ones.

7. Beyond 12

For stepping up to make sure every student gets a chance at higher ed. While almost everyone agrees that some form of post-secondary education is crucial, less than 10% of students from lower-income families obtain a college degree–compared with nearly 75% of middle- and upper-income kids. However, neither high schools nor colleges seem to be able to focus on exactly when and how lower-income students slip through the cracks. The San Francisco–based nonprofit Beyond 12 offers an online tool that helps high schools track what happens to their students once they doff their mortarboards, while also providing colleges a tool to help retain vulnerable students who are trying to beat the odds.

8. Nova Labs

For nurturing and empowering a budding generation of scientists. Once home to fans of famed astronomer Carl Sagan, Nova Labs is now the go-to site for a nerd herd of thousands of U.S. high school students. With funding from NASA and Lockheed Martin–and under the watchful eye of education director and astrophysicist Rachel Connolly–Nova Labs is mixing fascinating narratives with big data to create a new kind of educational tool. The website, which is produced by PBS, allows curious minds to tinker, compete, and collaborate with the same data professional researchers use, to, say, build robots or track tropical storms. Nova wants to make sure this new generation of scientists is ready to take on the world. “Big data is fundamentally changing the way scientists do research,” says Connolly.

For unleashing its engineering expertise to hack together a next-gen engineering school. While the hype grows around massive open online courses (MOOCs), Twitter University may be the tech innovation that really breaks higher education wide open. Last year, Twitter acquired Marakana, an open-source technical training company, to help keep their engineers at the top of their game–and perhaps more crucially, to find an efficient way to get their master engineers to amp up the skill level of recruits. If it works, imagine Twitter University (or Facebook or Google University) forming partnerships with community college–goers to create skilled workers, ready and able to do the job on Day One. For deploying a data-centric learning platform that even a kid could use. Adaptive-learning tools can be intimidating for younger students. But KnowRe has developed a mathematics app that uses a fun, achievement-based, gamified interface to figure out what skills middle schoolers need to master algebra, then uses adaptive technology to tailor lessons, practices, and quizzes to make sure those gaps get filled in. While KnowRe is in its early stages, it has shown significant promise, with major buzz in the ed-tech industry: It was the winner of Google’s Global K-Startup competition and has already amassed data and feedback from more than 11,000 beta users–including students and teachers from 34 pilot schools across the United States.

The fastest, most secure Windows PCs ever built  

We introduced an all-new system architecture to bring the power of the CPU, GPU, and now a new high performance Neural Processing Unit (NPU) together. Connected to and enhanced by the large language models (LLMs) running in our Azure Cloud in concert with small language models (SLMs), Copilot+ PCs can now achieve a level of performance never seen before. They are up to 20x more powerful [1] and up to 100x as efficient [2] for running AI workloads and deliver industry-leading AI acceleration. They outperform Apple’s MacBook Air 15” by up to 58% in sustained multithreaded performance [3] , all while delivering all-day battery life.  With incredible efficiency, Copilot+ PCs can deliver up to 22 hours of local video playback or 15 hours of web browsing on a single charge. [4] That is up to 20% more battery in local video playback than the MacBook Air 15”. [5]

Windows now has the best implementation of apps on the fastest chip, starting with Qualcomm. We now offer more native Arm64 experiences than ever before, including our fastest implementation of Microsoft 365 apps like Teams, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, OneDrive and OneNote. Chrome, Spotify, Zoom, WhatsApp, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Blender, Affinity Suite, DaVinci Resolve and many more now run​ natively on Arm to give you great performance with additional apps, like Slack, releasing later this year. In fact, 87% of the total app minutes people spend in apps today have native Arm versions. [6] With a powerful new emulator, Prism, your apps run great, whether native or emulated.

Every Copilot+ PC comes secured out of the box. The Microsoft Pluton Security processor will be enabled by default on all Copilot+ PCs and we have introduced a number of new features, updates and defaults to Windows 11 that make it easy for users to stay secure. Entirely new, powerful AI experiences   

Copilot+ PCs leverage powerful processors and multiple state-of-the-art AI models, including several of Microsoft’s world-class SLMs, to unlock a new set of experiences you can run locally, directly on the device. This removes previous limitations on things like latency, cost and even privacy to help you be more productive, creative and communicate more effectively.  

Recall instantly  

We set out to solve one of the most frustrating problems we encounter daily – finding something we know we have seen before on our PC. Today, we must remember what file folder it was stored in, what website it was on, or scroll through hundreds of emails trying to find it.   

Now with Recall, in preview starting June 18, you can access virtually what you have seen or done on your PC in a way that feels like having photographic memory. Copilot+ PCs organize information like we do – based on relationships and associations unique to each of our individual experiences. This helps you remember things you may have forgotten so you can find what you’re looking for quickly and intuitively by simply using the cues you remember. [7]

You can scroll across time to find the content you need in your timeline across any application, website, document, or more. Interact intuitively using snapshots with screenray to help you take the next step using suggested actions based on object recognition. And get back to where you were, whether to a specific email in Outlook or the right chat in Teams.

Recall leverages your personal semantic index, built and stored entirely on your device. Your snapshots are yours; they stay locally on your PC. You can delete individual snapshots, adjust and delete ranges of time in Settings, or pause at any point right from the icon in the System Tray on your Taskbar. You can also filter apps and websites from ever being saved. You are always in control with privacy you can trust.

Cocreate with AI-powered image creation and editing, built into Windows

Since the launch of Image Creator, almost 10 billion images have been generated, helping more people bring their ideas to life easily by using natural language to describe what they want to create. Yet, today’s cloud offerings may limit the number of images you can create, keep you waiting while the artwork processes or even present privacy concerns. By using the Neural Processing Units (NPUs) and powerful local small language models, we are bringing innovative new experiences to your favorite creative applications like Paint and Photos.

Combine your ink strokes with text prompts to generate new images in nearly real time with Cocreator. As you iterate, so does the artwork, helping you more easily refine, edit and evolve your ideas. Powerful diffusion-based algorithms optimize for the highest quality output over minimum steps to make it feel like you are creating alongside AI. Use the creativity slider to choose from a range of artwork from more literal to more expressive. Once you select your artwork, you can continue iterating on top of it, helping you express your ideas, regardless of your creative skills.

Take photo editing and image creation to the next level. With Restyle Image, you can reimagine your personal photos with a new style combining image generation and photo editing in Photos. Use a pre-set style like Cyberpunk or Claymation to change the background, foreground or full picture to create an entirely new image. Together with Adobe, we are thrilled to announce Adobe’s flagship apps are coming to Copilot+ PCs, including Photoshop, Lightroom and Express – available today. Illustrator, Premiere Pro and more are coming this summer. And we’re continuing to partner to optimize AI in these apps for the NPU. For Adobe Creative Cloud customers, they will benefit from the full performance advantages of Copilot+ PCs to express their creativity faster than ever before.

Portrait light automatically adjusts the image to improve your perceived illumination in a dark environment or brighten the foreground pixels when in a low-light environment. Three new creative filters (illustrated, animated or watercolor) add an artistic flare. Eye contact teleprompter helps you maintain eye contact while reading your screen. New improvements to voice focus and portrait blur help ensure you’re always in focus.
