Why can't I access my webcam in PPT?
This so frustrating. I have windows 10 and office 365, a brand new computer (PC) and I can't access my webcam to record in my powerpoint. What gives? I can narrate but who wants that? I don't even have the option to record and no webcam option exists, it also allows me to ppt narrate.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused at your end.
Per the description provided, we understand you can’t use your camera in the Record Slide Show feature in the PowerPoint application but when we check the behavior at our end, we can use the camera feature without any problem. In this situation, I would like to request you check the following:
a. Check whether the Camera will be turned on by toggling Camera and Camera Preview button in the Record Slide Show:
b. Check whether Camera on your device is allowed to use by desktop apps and try to use the Record Slide Show feature. Open the Camera privacy settings> Turn on Allow apps to access your camera and Allow desktop apps to access your camera .
If still you can’t use the Camera, we would like you to provide the following information for assisting you further:
a. Are you using built-in camera or external camera connected to your device?
b. PowerPoint app version and Product Information. Open the PowerPoint app> Account> Check the name under Product Information and version number beside About Version.
c. What happens when you click on Camera Preview feature in Record Slide Show?
Best Regards,

Thanks for your feedback.
Microsoft wont recognise my subscription. I've tried re-installing. restarting. Signing out. Nothing works. It says some PPt functions have been disabled but I bought a 365 subscription.
As per your recommendations
1) the camera button does not exist.
2) all apps are allowed access to my webcam
1) built in webcam. Use it every day on Zoom. Works fine
2) product belongs to me, but as mentioned it cannot verify my subscription somehow (nice way to burn $100).
3) there is no camera preview. The option use a camera does not exist. I can only narrate with voice.

Thanks for updating the information with us.
Record Slide Show feature is available for both Office 365 subscribers and non-Office 365 subscribers, where Office 365 subscribers will have extra features. Since you mentioned your Office applications are not recognizing your subscription, it seems your Office apps are not activated and that could be one of the possible cause for camera button doesn't exist in the PowerPoint app.
In this situation, to help you further, we would like to know the name of the Office 365 subscription purchased? Is it Microsoft 365 Family/Microsoft 365 Personal/ Microsoft 365 Business/ Microsoft 365 Enterprise?
In addition, please provide the screenshot of error message you are encountering about " Microsoft wont recognise my subscription "
I think the issue may be it hasnt updated to my new subscription but i already tried to do that so im not sure why it wont recognize it.
I purchased Microsoft 365 family. On my PPT account screen it says Micrsoft Office Professional Plus 2016.
I've tried inserting a screen shot for about 5 minutes but it just sits at 0% and does not upload.
in my account section the wrong product is activated but i can't change my license as it says "we cannot find another license associated with M_****** Email address is removed for privacy ***
in a pink box it says:
Couldn't verify subscription (view only)
Microsoft office 365
belongs to:M_we****** Email address is removed for privacy ***
This product contains
(shows all the apps)
! We couldnt verify your office 365 subscription, so most features of Powerpoint have been disabled. Please make sure you are connected to the internet and restart your application.

Sorry to hear the problem at your end.
Since you are using the Microsoft 365 Family and encountering the activation problem, we will help you to move this thread to correct category i.e., Microsoft 365 Family, as members in that community will share further suggestions.
