Why this resume works

  • Your delivery driver resume format should prominently present the type of vehicles driven, load weights, and how many deliveries you made per day. Hiring managers need to quickly determine your previous work history to find you a match for their role.
  • The  best resume format  to accomplish this goal is the reverse-chronological, which lists your work history from most recent to oldest.
  • For example, did you up-sell customers when making deliveries? Did you increase the efficiency of your routes to increase overall sales?
  • Present your impact with real numbers and statistics to ease reading and break up chunks of cumbersome text.

Entry-Level Delivery Driver Resume

Entry-level delivery Driver resume example

  • For example, if you have experience as a cashier, that money handling experience is relevant to a food delivery driver.
  • If you have experience stocking shelves at a grocery store, that level of organization applies to a package delivery driver.
  • Companies want to hire safe, responsible drivers. Make it clear that you fit that mold front and center in your objective.
  • An objective works well when you’re light on experience, as it consumes white space, helping you fill the page.
  • Make your objective meaningful by showing off your best, relevant skills and customize it by mentioning the target business by name.

UPS Driver Resume

  • Write down the tasks you’ve handled using delivery and shipping software. Adding any level of expertise with route optimization and reducing delivery times will also do wonders!

  • Mention any events where you’ve directly contributed to lowering delivery wait times using weather software and improved communication between loading docks and delivery trucks.

Food Delivery Driver Resume

Food delivery driver resume example with 10 years of experience

  • Your food delivery driver resume should showcase your ability to handle food safely, provide fast service to customers, and support the kitchen staff in preparation for food delivery. Collaboration is an important skill to hiring managers as it demonstrates being a team player.
  • Make specific mentions of how you excelled in customer service. Was your connection to a customer responsible for their becoming a repeat customer? Did you throw in some bread-sticks to reward a loyal customer?
  • Bonus: showcase your preferred food products or food service expertise in your resume’s overview or work history bullet points to catch the recruiter’s eye, especially if the job description indicates a preference for that experience.

Pizza Delivery Driver Resume

Pizza delivery driver resume example with 13 years of experience

  • How many orders did you deliver per day in your previous roles? What was the total sales volume? Did you handle any especially large events?
  • By focusing on these concrete numbers, you paint a clear picture of your strengths.
  • Pizza delivery drivers should list any  special resume skills  related to the role and whether you provided any support outside of your scope (for example, cash handling, pizza creation, sales) that you want the hiring manager to notice about your experience, especially if the job description prefers candidates with your specific skill set.

Amazon Delivery Driver Resume

Amazon delivery driver resume with 4 years of experience

  • Why do you want that role? Is it because of Amazon’s reputation?—Because you want to work for the largest consumer delivery company in the world? Be specific!
  • Be sure your Amazon delivery driver resume mentions how you improved routes through processes (saving the company money) and increased customer satisfaction through results-oriented data. Employers like to see how you helped other companies and how you will help theirs.

3. Next, create a pizza delivery driver skills section on your resume

Your resume's skills section should include the most important keywords from the job description, as long as you actually have those skills. If you haven't started your job search yet, you can look over resumes to get an idea of what skills are the most important.

Here are some tips to keep in mind when writing your resume's skills section:

  • Include 6-12 skills, in bullet point form
  • List mostly hard skills ; soft skills are hard to test
  • Emphasize the skills that are most important for the job

Hard skills are generally more important to hiring managers because they relate to on-the-job knowledge and specific experience with a certain technology or process.

Soft skills are also valuable, as they're highly transferable and make you a great person to work alongside, but they're impossible to prove on a resume.

Example of skills to include on an pizza delivery driver resume

Customer service is the process of offering assistance to all the current and potential customers -- answering questions, fixing problems, and providing excellent service. The main goal of customer service is to build a strong relationship with the customers so that they keep coming back for more business.

POS is an abbreviation of "Point of Sale" which is the time and place where a customer completes a transaction. It can either be a physical shop that consists of POS terminals or a virtual shop. A POS system helps simplify the retail functions and track important sales data.

4. List your pizza delivery driver experience

The most important part of any resume for a pizza delivery driver is the experience section. Recruiters and hiring managers expect to see your experience listed in reverse chronological order, meaning that you should begin with your most recent experience and then work backwards.

Don't just list your job duties below each job entry. Instead, make sure most of your bullet points discuss impressive achievements from your past positions. Whenever you can, use numbers to contextualize your accomplishments for the hiring manager reading your resume.

It's okay if you can't include exact percentages or dollar figures. There's a big difference even between saying "Managed a team of pizza delivery drivers" and "Managed a team of 6 pizza delivery drivers over a 9-month project. "

Most importantly, make sure that the experience you include is relevant to the job you're applying for. Use the job description to ensure that each bullet point on your resume is appropriate and helpful.

  • Commercial Driver License (CDL)

Good customer service skills are needed to ensure that customers have a positive experience, feel valued, and are likely to order again in the future. This includes being polite, friendly, and professional, handling any complaints or issues effectively, and ensuring orders are delivered on time. Including this skill in a resume objective demonstrates an understanding of its importance and a commitment to providing high-quality service.

Common Mistakes When Writing a Pizza Delivery Driver Resume Objective

When writing a resume objective for a pizza delivery driver, it is important to keep in mind that the objective should be concise and relevant to the job you are applying for. Many job seekers make the mistake of including irrelevant information or making their objective too long. It is also important to avoid using generic objectives such as “seeking a challenging position” as this does not provide employers with any real information about your qualifications or goals.

Another common mistake when writing a pizza delivery driver resume objective is to include too much personal information. While it can be tempting to include details about hobbies and interests, these are usually better suited for other sections of the resume such as the “Interests” section. The objective should focus on skills and experience related to the job you are applying for. It is also important to avoid using cliches such as “hardworking” or “dedicated” as employers expect applicants to demonstrate these qualities in their resumes.

Finally, it is important to make sure that your resume objective focuses on how you can benefit the employer rather than what you want from them. For example, instead of stating that you want a job with flexible hours, you should emphasize how your availability would help them meet customer demands during peak times. By avoiding these common mistakes and crafting an effective pizza delivery driver resume objective, you can improve your chances of landing an interview and ultimately getting hired for the position.

81-year-old pizza delivery driver sucker-punched in carjacking: ‘I was afraid for my life’

CHICAGO (WLS) - After an 81-year-old pizza delivery driver and Vietnam veteran was carjacked, the Chicago community stepped up, raising more than $16,000 to help pay for repairs. Police arrested a teenager in the case and are still looking for possible accomplices.

Ernie Aimone, 81, was crossing the street around 9 p.m. Wednesday after delivering a pizza in the Jefferson Park neighborhood when he says a man walked up from behind him. The next thing he knew, he was on the ground.

“They said, ‘Give me the keys’ and sucker-punched me from behind, hit me in the face. I was afraid for my life,” Ernie Aimone said. “I got a daughter and a son. I gotta live for them.”

He did not fight back, instead staying face down on the street and listening as the suspects took off in his car, a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe.

“It could have been a lot worse. He couldn’t come home. He wouldn’t have come home that day. I don’t know what I would have done without him,” said Ernie’s daughter, Robyn Aimone.

Hours after the carjacking, state police spotted the Hyundai on the expressway. After a short chase, the car crashed, leaving major damage. Police arrested one teenage suspect and are still looking for others.

Ernie Aimone, who is a Vietnam veteran, has delivered pizza for Joe’s on Higgins for the last 40 years. Many customers, in fact, request that it’s him who brings their pizza.

“He’s like family to us. He’s seen me grow up from very young. He worked for my dad,” said Frank Demonte with Joe’s.

“Ernie’s very special to us, always has been,” said Gina Demonte with Joe’s.

When word got out about the carjacking, many people in the community offered to help Aimone. The Gladstone Park Chamber of Commerce started a GoFundMe for car repairs or possibly an entirely new vehicle. It has raised more than $16,000, as of Saturday night.

“He’s like a local legend. He’s loyal to Joe’s for 40 years, served our country, and he deserves our support in his time of need,” said Dan Ciolino with the chamber of commerce.

Despite the incident, Ernie Aimone says he’s not quitting his job. As soon as he gets a new car, he plans to resume delivering pizzas.

When beginning your food delivery driver cover letter , immediately point out the unique value of working with you. In other words, what you promise to bring to the role by using your past track record of success.

Start your food delivery driver cover letter with a creative twist by telling a joke or stating something relatable. Select this type of introduction only if it aligns with the company culture.

What to write in the middle or body of your food delivery driver cover letter

Here's where it gets tricky.

Your food delivery driver cover letter body should present you in the best light possible and, at the same time, differ from your resume.

Don't be stuck in making up new things or copy-pasting from your resume. Instead, select just one achievement from your experience.

Use it to succinctly tell a story of the job-crucial skills and knowledge this taught you.

Your food delivery driver cover letter is the magic card you need to further show how any organization or team would benefit from working with you.

Ending your food delivery driver cover letter: a closing paragraph with a promise

If you're thinking of finishing your food delivery driver cover letter with a "Sincerely yours" or "Thanks for the consideration," you need to read on.

End the final paragraph of your food delivery driver cover letter with a twist:

  • a promise - of how you'd grow as a professional, part of the company, or improve organizational metrics;
  • a call to action - prompt interviewers with some follow-up actions if they are interested in your profile.

A personalized ending would surely help you to stand out by being a memorable candidate.

No experience food delivery driver cover letter: making the most out of your profile

Candidates who happen to have no professional experience use their food delivery driver cover letter to stand out.

Instead of focusing on a professional achievement, aim to quantify all the relevant, transferrable skills from your life experience.

Once again, the best practice to do so would be to select an accomplishment - from your whole career history.

Another option would be to plan out your career goals and objectives: how do you see yourself growing, as a professional, in the next five years, thanks to this opportunity?

Be precise and concise about your dreams, and align them with the company vision.

Key takeaways

Winning recruiters over shouldn't be difficult if you use your food delivery driver cover letter to tell a story that:

  • Is personalized by greeting your readers and focusing on key job skills greets;
  • Isn't spread all over the place, but instead focuses on one key achievement and selling your value as a professional;
  • Introduces your enthusiasm for the role, passion for the job, or creativity in communication;
  • Is also visually appealing - meeting the best HR practices;
  • Ends with a nod to the future and how you envision your growth, as part of the company.
