Shimla has been on our wish list for a very long time now, it was locked as our destination this summer. My entire family was excited about this trip to Shimla. Our love for train journeys made us choose to travel by train for this trip. We boarded the train for Shimla early in the morning, and were going through these lush green lands, intriguing tunnels, and beautiful hillsides. 

We were simply mesmerized to see the view of many other hill stations like Solan, Jakej, Kumarhatti, etc. The next day we arrived at Shimla in the afternoon and took a cab to reach our hotel. Our room in the hotel was huge and had a breathtaking view. We got ourselves some rest and, in the evening, planned to go shopping and explore the Shimla market. 

The Ridge or Mall Road is the go-to place for the crowd to shop. Banks, classy hotels, coffee houses, and fancy shops were in high demand. The Ridge ends at the Mahatma Gandhi statue. We could also see snow-capped peaks by then, which melted our hearts.  

The next day we started with the Hanuman temple in the morning. We spotted many monkeys at the famous Hanuman temple, who were getting fed with bananas by the locals and tourists. We then started for Mashobra, an apple farm and horticulture center that is pretty well known. We received eye-opening information about horticulture there. Several misconceptions regarding the plants and flowers were cleared too. Lakkar Bazaar was the destination for the evening. It is a wood market, selling items made out of wood including walking sticks and decorative pieces. We returned to our room and rested after exhausting ourselves completely. 

The next morning, we had our breakfast and headed for Badi Ki Dhar. We witnessed the beautiful sights of Shimla from this hilltop. With cold winds brushing by our faces swiftly, the view was outstandingly mesmerizing. It also has a famous temple of Lord Shiva. The Lord is commemorated in an annual fair organized on the 14 th and 15 th of June. 

The next spot for us was the Switzerland of the East. It has this peculiar name to it since it’s covered with snow completely. It was all of our first time feeling and touching the real snow in its serene surroundings. We kept playing in the snow to our hearts were content. We ate a little bit and went back to sleep in our rooms. 

There were two more spots left to see in our itinerary. They were the Chadwick waterfall and the Himalayan Bird Park. The Himalayan Bird Park was best for bird watchers and nature lovers. We got to see very rare species of birds, some exotic pheasants, peacocks, and the Himalayan Monal. The amazing colours of the birds along with their chirping sounds made the atmosphere very vibrant. We even fed the birds with our own hands. The park is also famous for its collection of rare trees and plants. The last spot was the most-awaited place called the Chadwick waterfall. Located in an undisturbed corner of the Glen forests, the looming greens, the breezy climate, the sound, and the fragrance of the wild works as a mood lifter for the senses.

“A thing of beauty is a joy forever!” I was always told that hills are a thing of beauty. I had a chance to visit Shimla with my family. We took a train this time and the journey was quite thrilling for us. Shimla being a beautiful hill station, it was a wonderful experience for us. The very famous Mall road was hustling and bustling with the crowd. Literally a meeting place for all in Shimla. The lower mall is full of life. One could see the entire Shimla hills from the ridge, the widest, and the most beautiful spot. The pretty church on the ridge is a bonus attraction for any tourist. Mussoorie 

Around the 15th of May, Delhi's schools close for the summer holiday. It was really hot at that time. As a result, my parents decided to visit Mussoorie. The mere concept of travelling to the hills was exhilarating. The preparations were already underway. 

We prepared our belongings and prepared for the travel. We took the train to Dehradun. We travelled by automobile from Dehradun to Mussoorie. 

Mussoorie is one of India's hill stations. It's referred to as the "Queen of Hill Stations." It features a variety of lovely sports. We went to see the town the next day after breakfast. We went to the Landour and Library markets. They were all crammed with visitors from all across the country. 

We went for a walk after lunch along the Mall and Camel Back Road. We were enthralled by the vista all around us. The skating rink, which is a hotspot for fashion and colour, is worth a visit. We were able to see the Kempty Falls and the snow-capped mountain. 

We stayed in a lovely summer resort. The mountain slopes are covered in tall, green trees that make for a lovely sunset vista and a spectacular appearance. The hours of the morning and evening are also very lovely. It takes one's mind off the sweltering heat of the plains. 

A cold breeze refreshes the mind. Being so close to Mother Nature made me joyful. My heart was filled with excitement as I saw the vivid multi-coloured flowers, the clouds soaring through the sky, and the snow-covered peaks of the high mountains in the distance. 

We stayed for a fortnight there. I unwillingly returned to Delhi. My vacation to Mussoorie remains a vivid memory in my mind. 

Ooty  

We booked a car as soon as we arrived to contact our hotel. We stayed at the hotel for the night. We awoke early and went to the hotel restaurant for breakfast the next day before beginning our adventure. Breakfast was delicious, especially the coffee and dosa. The Government Botanical Garden near Coimbatore was the first location we went to. 

The Garden is separated into numerous areas, each with a different flower in bloom, and it appears to be a great place for photography. Then we travelled to the Ooty Boathouse in the Nilgiris, which provides tourists with boating opportunities. While boating, we were treated to breathtaking scenery. 

After we finished our meal, we went to see the famed Rose Garden, which has over 20,000 different varieties of roses. We went back to the motel and slept the night away. On our final day in Ooty, we went to the tea museum and factory, where they make high-quality tea and Toda cottages created by the Toda tribal people. 

The shelter's distinguishing feature is that it lacks windows and is quite low in height.   

It is one of Ooty's indigenous tribes that is reliant on agriculture. These are some of the places we visited during our brief stay, but there are many more that we plan to visit next year. The view and the weather it provided fascinated us all. 

Summary 

It was time for our journey back and it was by bus. It was captivating as the stars, the nightlife, the music, and the far-stretching hills were alluring us to revisit the place. The zig-zag roads gave us an opportunity to view nature from different angles. Shimla stands true to its tag of “queen of hills”. We would all love to come here again to find out the unexplored spots.

Last summer I made a trip to Darjeeling, the Queen of Hill Stations. We travelled to New Jalpaiguri by the Darjeeling Mail. There we got into the toy train. Oh! what an experience it was! The train moved very slowly through the Terai in a zig-zag course. Last summer, I had an opportunity to visit Simla with my mother. My uncle lives there. My mother and I left for Simla by train. We arrived at Kalka. It is a hilly tract of sixty kilometers from Kalka to Simla. The train leading to Simla covers this distance in about six hours. We boarded the toy train. The train had only eight or nine compartments. I looked outside through the window of the train. I saw the mountains were bathed in the glory of the rising sun. Everything looked majestic. The trees were so high. They were, as if, receiving messages straight from heaven. I felt a joyous invitation of Simla in my heart.

The following day and then through the weekend we started visiting places in Simla. It was once the summer capital of the government of India during the British rule. Now it is the capital of Himachal Pradesh. On these visits, we enjoyed the beauty and freshness of Simla. We also went for horse-riding and excursions.

To our despair, Scandal Point or the Ridge was overcrowded. There was a steep rise that took us from the Ridge to Jakhu. It is a mountain peak having very tall trees. As the legend goes, it is believed that Hanuman had fetched Sanjeevani for Lakshman from here. We were greeted by the chirping of birds from tall trees. Their carols were continually ringing in my heart. The landscape was so marvelous that I experienced a tremendous high. The song of the birds, and the whisper of the leaves echoed the ecstasy of nature.  A scented freshness filled the air. There is snow-skating available at Kufri. It is ten kilometers from Simla. We also visited it. I also took photographs to capture the beauty of Simla.

Conclusion:

The days sped. As we left Simla, I realised that the sweet memory of this visit would never desert me. If you have a soul that responds to the poetry and drama of a landscape, beware the thrall of Simla, for it will hook you and beckon you annually.

To top it off, a charming church on the ridge serves as an added attraction for tourists.

Nainital  – As the night went on, the place became silent and serene. Insects buzzed throughout. The calm water of the lake and its reflection preserved its beauty at night. We decided to take a walk the next day to explore the area. There were also plenty of other lovely sights to see.

Numerous birds and animals were spotted, including some breathtaking and one-of-a-kind creatures. They seemed delighted strolling through the forests and towering trees. Our accommodations were in a charming summer resort nestled in the lush green slopes, providing an idyllic backdrop for sunsets and stunning views. The early morning and evening hours were particularly enchanting.

Being so close to Mother Nature made me happy. It took my mind off the sweltering heat of the plains. A cold breeze refreshed my mind. When I saw the vivid multi-coloured flowers, the clouds soaring through the sky. For a fortnight, we stayed there. I reluctantly returned to Delhi. I still remember my trip to Mussoorie vividly.

Winding Road: A winding road led to a small Lakkar Bazaar beyond the ridge in the late evening. The bazaar was full of wooden crafts, and my mother purchased a stylish walking cane for my grandfather and a woollen shawl for my grandmother. Our night ended with a light meal and a walk back to the hotel.

Mashobra: Towards the end of our trip, we visited Mashobra—a small village north of Shimla known for its apple orchards and horticulture research facility. The village had a population of around 900 people. They were friendly with tourists and owned small businesses and shops to support themselves. In addition, we toured the Anadale grounds, which had a helipad, and Shimla airport.

Despite our best efforts, our trip to Shimla ended sooner than expected. The trip was not just fun but also educational in many ways. My memories of my trip to Shimla will last a lifetime.

During my last summer vacation, I paid a visit to Shimla where my elder brother lives. He is a forest officer there. I planned to go there in summer as the plains at that time are very hot. I boarded the Kalka Mail at Amritsar on the 15 th of June. Our train reached Kalka at 5:30 the next morning. Then I changed for Shimla.

Our journey to Shimla was through a hilly area. The train took a zig-zag track. The air was cool, fresh, and pleasant. I felt that it was quite different from the scorching heat of Amritsar. The scenery on the either side of the railway track was very charming. The train passed through several tunnels. I reached Shimla at about 2 p.m. My elder brother and my sister-in-law were at the Shimla station to receive me. Then we hired a coolie and went to my brother’s residence.

I saw various places. I saw roller skating in the skating hall. It was a new thing for me. I also saw the skating ring at the Annandale grounds. I visited the Ridge and the Mall every evening. I also visited Mash bra, Yahoo, Summer Hill, and Tara Devi. At Tara Devi, I saw monkeys of various sizes and shapes. It was quite amusing to watch them. I also visited places like thereof and chili

I went out for a long walk every morning and evening. I inhaled the healthful mountain air. Going up and coming downhill gave me good exercise. This exercise increased my hunger. I did full justice to my food during my stay at Shimla.

A Visit To A Hill Station (Dalhousie)

Some hill stations are called ‘ queens’ and others are called ‘Kings’. Dalhousie would be a little princess. She is small and charming, pretty and full of promise. It is at the southern slopes of the Himalayas. Every year thousands of people go to hill stations in the summer months to save themselves from the burning heat of the sun. my friend lived there. He invited me to spend summer vacations with him. I was glad. I asked my mother. My case was recommended by my mother so it was successful. My father allowed me to go to Dalhousie.

I packed my clothes. I also took a rainproof coat and a folding umbrella. I got my reservation. I got my berth and reached Dalhousie. My friend was waiting for me. It was the result of my telegram. I reached my Friend’s house with him. His mother and younger sister welcomed me. I met with his father in the evening. He was a gentle and cooperative person. He encouraged me to enjoy the city.

The town of Dalhousie has some charming colonial architecture. There are four beautiful stone churches with fine glasswork. Close to the town is the Kalatop wildlife sanctuary. There is an obelisk built in the memory of freedom fighter Sardar Ajit Singh at a distance of three kilometers. Close to the town Dalhousie, there is a place called Subhash Baoli where Subhash Chandra Bose spent a large portion of 1937. There are Tibetan Handicrafts where we can see attractive carpets and woolen shawls. The town has a wide variety of hotels including Hotel  Geetanjali run by the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation.

Khajjiar is twenty-six kilometers from Dalhousie. It is called India’s Switzerland. There is an old temple dedicated to Khajji Nag with a legend. There was a fearful struggle between a sage and Kala Nag. At the end of his defeat, the sage left this place got its name. the serpent is worshipped in human form. There is a beautifully carved stone image of Nag Devta within the temple. In addition to this, there are five wooden life-size images of the five Pandava brothers. We also went to the river Ravi. Chamba is also a charming place to see. This city stands on the right bank and is one of the oldest in the country. It dates back to the sixth century. Chamba is famous for its temples. The most important splendid temple is the Laxmi Narain complex. Other notable temples are Hari Rai, the Chamunda Devi, the Devi Vajreshwari, and the Champavati.

I came back after twenty days. The returning journey was no less thrilling and charming. I was bewitched by the chanting streams. In short, his visit to Dalhousie was both educative and fruitful. Its memory is still fresh in my mind. It is a thing to enjoy through recollection.

Schools in Delhi are closed for summer vacation around   15 th May. It is very hot then. My parents, therefore, decided to go to Mussoorie. It was thrilling – the very thought of going to the hills. Preparations were made in full swing.

We packed our luggage and got ready for the journey. We went to Dehradun by train. From Dehradun, we went to Mussoorie by car. Mussoorie is one of the hill stations in India. It is called the queen of hill stations. It has many beautiful sports. The next day, after breakfast, we went to see the town. We visited Library and Landour markets. They were all crowded with tourists from different parts of the country.

After lunch, we went for a walk along the Mall and the Camel Back Road. We enjoyed the scenery around us very much. The skating hall, a place of fashion and colour is also worth seeing. We saw the Kempty fall and had a view of the snow-capped mountain.

 It is a beautiful summer resort. The mountain slopes are covered with tall, green trees which present a charming sight at sunset and look very grand. The morning and evening hours are also very pleasant.  A cool breeze sets up and refreshes the mind. It makes one forget the oppressive heat of the plains. I felt happy being so close to the Mother Nature. The bright multi-coloured flowers, the clouds sailing across the sky, and the snow-covered peaks of the high mountains in the distance filled my heart with joy.

We stayed there for a fortnight. I returned to Delhi reluctantly. The memory of my visit to Mussoorie is still fresh in my mind.

A visit to Peninsular Malaysia

 I am sure many of us living on the west coast have not visited the beautiful east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. If one does have a chance, he will find it a different kind of holiday experience, a holiday spent among the beauties of nature.

First, there are the hundreds of miles of unspoiled sandy beaches, white and clean with the open blue sea greeting the visitors. Then, there is the lush, tropical greenery, the tall coconut palms swaying gracefully in the breeze, and charming rural villages w, where life is unhurried, leisurely, and peaceful. ‘Batik’ and songket’ are famous local products and tourists will not leave the place without buying a few of these pieces as souvenirs.

Kelantanese cottage industries are of great variety. Some men are busily engaged in the making of giant kites or ‘vim’ which are of various shapes and colors. Kite-flying is an important pastime in Kelantan, apart from top-spinning.

Lastly, the beautiful beach of Pantai Cinta Berahi is worth a visit, for you will see the beach fringed with groves of casuarina trees. A trip to Pasir Putih, a scenic spot that abounds with waterfalls and freshwater springs is an unforgettable experience. Life here is totally unhurried and relaxing, making it a memorable holiday for you.

The Hill Station I Love Most

I visited Mussoorie every year during the summer vacation. I was satisfied with that Mussoorie was known as the Queen of Hill stations. I have also visited several other hill stations such as Ooty, Dalhousie, Kasauli, Nainital, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam in Kashmir Kulu and even Murri in Pakistan during my visit to that county.

Last year, a change occurred in my schedule. It so happened that my lovable uncle who makes much of me was transferred to Shimla and took a promise from me that I would visit him during the summer vacation. He is a forest ranger.

Accordingly, I went to Shimla in May last year when the plains were hot like a cauldron on the burning oven. As I reached there, I was surprised to find the weather there. A cool breeze was blowing. The sky was overcast with clouds. Soon, there was drizzling. But the weather cleared within a few minutes.

 I had a walk in the Mall and also in the forest area. At the Mall, I had a talk within some tourists. In the forest area, I saw gushing rivulets and springs. The lush green pine trees were a sight to see. Birds were chirping on all sides. I was glad to see hills and valleys covered with flowers. I also visited Kufri and Jakhu Temple.

I stayed in Shimla for about a month. I gained a lot in health. I can never forget my visit to Shimla.

An Evening Scene from a Hill

I am very fond of outdoor life. So, I often keep wandering alone for hours in parks, gardens, fields, and along canals, lakes, and ponds. I even like to climb tip trees, mountains, and hills.

There is a small hill at some distance from our village. I -1st Sunday, I was having a walk in the fields near the hill. I suddenly made up my mind to climb the hill.

The evening was approaching. But it did not take me much time to climb it as it was not so high and I had climbed it earlier a number of times.

As I reached the top of the hill, I decided to stand there for a while to have a look below the hill.

It was evening now. The sun was setting in the west. It looked like a bright round rim-like disc. The west was all ablaze with its purple glow.

I looked at the fields below. They looked only small tennis courts. The animals and human beings seemed to be tiny cats, rats or frogs. The houses in the village looked like small dollhouses.

The earthen and electric lamps in the village were quite prominent even from the top of the hill. The river flowing close to the foot of the hill looked like a shining silken thread

Meanwhile, the moon and some stars appeared in the sky. I climbed down the hill in the moonlight and returned home.

Last year, the summer season was very hot. One day, I went to Mussoorie with my friends. It took seven hours from Delhi to Dehradun by train.

Then we hired a car and reached Mussoorie. Mussoorie is a beautiful hill station. The scenery on the way was very charming. First, we went to see Kempty Falls. We spent the night in a hotel. All the hotels, coffee houses, and restaurants were full of tourists.

The next day went to see the Gun Hill and Company Garden. We spent two hours in the Company Garden. After lunch, we roamed through the market. Lastly, we went to see Mussoorie Public School. Its compound is very beautiful.

We saw all the important places there. All of us were very happy. We decided to go back home. Soon we were travelling back and we reached home late at night. The memories of the visit still lingers in my mind.

In a hot country like India, hill stations have a special significance. Of all the hill stations which I have seen Shimla, I have liked the most. It is the queen of hills. I visited Shimla along with my friend Mohan. We went there by train which passed through many dark tunnels. It was the month of June when it was very hot in the plains. Once we reached Shimla, we forgot the sweltering heat of the plains. We had already booked a bungalow there, overlooking a green valley. At Shimla, we were welcomed by the softly blowing cool breeze and birds chirping in the charming pine trees. The dancing rivulets, moving in zigzag paths, and making harmonious music catered to our senses of sight and sound. The multi-colour, fragrant flowers, and floating clouds overhead were a feast to our eyes. In great awe and admiration to the glories of God, we thanked him for having created so plenteous beauties. We felt overwhelmed. We stayed at Shimla for a week. Daily we set out early in the morning to visit beauty spots around Shimla. We welcomed drizzling, but when it rained heavily, we had to stay indoors. Then we played some indoor games and enjoyed the dainty dishes prepared by the cook we had arranged. After the rain, everything looked fresh. When the weather was fine, we sometimes, especially in the evenings, went to the Mall or the Ridge. There we saw people from different parts of the world. They were all in a hilarious mood. There were some vendors who sold some gift articles at exorbitant rates. We already knew that most of them were cheats. So, we kept our purchases at the minimum. But we did bring at least one dainty gift for each member of our families. We left Shimla with a heavy heart but took a vow to visit this paradise every year.

A Visit to A Hill Station

There are many hill stations in India. Shimla is one of them. It is in Himachal Pradesh. It is the capital of Himachal Pradesh. There are many picnic spots. There many tourists visit it every year particularly in the summer season.

Last month, I went with my parents to spend my summer vacations there. My uncle lives there. We stayed at his house. There we used to go out for a morning walk in the cool and fresh air. There are large playgrounds and green gardens. I saw Phagu Valley, the Ridge Church, Sanjoli, Chotta Simla, Lakkad Bazaar, Maal Road, Tibetan Market and Sankat Mochan temple of Lord Hanumanji. I liked Mall Road and Scandal Point (or Ridge).

There was a great hustle and bustle. There is a Rivoli theatre near Tibetan market. We saw a movie there. I also visited the Himachal University and the City Hospital Shimla.

People were seen eating various eatables such Chinese food, Indian food, cold drinks and various ice creams. Visitors reach Shimla by rail or bus or cars. Bus stand is on a higher place than the railway station. I visited DAV School at Maal Road. It was a foggy weather but fine for walks.

The days passed unnoticed. Soon the time for our departure came nearer. We decided to go back home. We reached Delhi by bus. It was an unforgettable visit to the hill station.

Last summer our school closed in the mid-May for the holidays. My parents had decided to visit Mussoorie. So they made all the arrangements two months ahead.

From Howrah station we went to Dehradun by train, and then by bus to Mussoorie. Immediately we made our way to the hotel and relaxed, as the journey was very tiring.

After lunch, we went for a long walk along the Mall and the Camel Back Road. We enjoyed the ack Road. We enjoyed the scenery all around. The skating rink is a place of fashion and colour and is worth seeing. A view of the kempty fall and the snowcapped mountains, makes us praise God for His wonderful creation. The bright multi-coloured flowers, the tall pine trees, the high mountains made me forget the heat and busy life in the plains.

The next day after breakfast, we went to see the town. We visited the Kulri and Landour markets. They were crowded with tourists from different parts of the country. Like other visitors we also h bought various things, especially those made by the local people-shawls, cardigans and soft warm mufflers.

Mussoorie is a beautiful place to visit during the summer, as the climate is cool and there is so much to see and do. Our stay at Mussoorie was short, but the memory of my visit will remain for a long, long time.

We packed our woollens, umbrella, raincoats, etc., and boarded the train for Kathgodam. There we took a U.P. Roadways bus and reached Nainital.

We had made advance reservation for our stay at the Hotel. This hotel gave a fine view of the lake and mountains. At night it rained and it becomes very cold. But in the morning the sky was all clear. After breakfast we visited the Naini Peak and the China Peak. We spend a greater part of the day in the hotel. We enjoyed boating in the lake. We did some shopping in the market. We visited all other places in the town. Bhimtal and Bhowali are the two picnic spots. We enjoyed picnic and bathing in the sun on the bank of the lake. Sometimes, we sat in the balcony. It was a very exciting experience. We felt as if we were in a fairy land. The weather at Nainital changes rather suddenly.in

We had taken many photographs of the beautiful scenes. After two days we came back to Delhi.

Set 3: Essay On A Visit to a Hill Station

It has always been very hot summers in Mumbai every year. This summer my father decided to take us to Panchgani for a vacation. We were excited and eager to see the place.

We set out for Panchgani by car. At first we reached Pune. From Pune it took us about two hours to reach Panchgani. As we entered Panchgani, we were greeted by the beautiful sight of silver oak trees. These trees are tall, slender and graceful. They give beauty to the scenery.

We stayed at the Government Tourist Bungalow. It was a comfortable place. The climate was cool and pleasant. It was a welcome change from the burning heat of Mumbai. We spent our time by going for walks in the morning and evening. Our bungalow was situated on the side of a hill. It overlooked a deep green valley. It was fun to watch the sunrise and the sunset.

Panchgani has many schools and hotels because it is mainly a tourist resort. There are local residents and the staff of schools and hotels. The places worth visiting are Sidney Point and Table Land. Table Land is a vast stretch of flat land situated on the top of a hill. All the schools play their matches there. When climbing up to Table Land there is a hollow space known as the Devil’s Kitchen.

Panchgani has frequent showers in May. Then the place gets full of a variety of wild flowers and ferns. The mist comes down from the hills and covers everything with a white smoky curtain. Nature has provided Panchgani with beautiful scenery. Our long walks and the cool climate made us very hungry.

We ate our food with a hearty appetite. Mahabaleshwar, another hill-station, is only eleven miles away from Panchgani. We used to go to Mahabaleshwar every Sunday and enjoy boating on the lake. We enjoyed eating the Makai-butta, fresh carrots and corn-patties near the lake. We also did horse riding. We were sorry when our holiday was over. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this hill station. We came back happy and refreshed in body and mind.

So, all the people in the house are required to be awake by 6 in the morning, which initially seemed like a curse to us. My uncle owns a kitchen utensils shop; he opens it at 7 in the morning daily. He left for work before 7 am each day. Most people were seen heading for their work around the same time.

I spent my mornings in the kitchen with all the ladies of the house, doing preparations for breakfast and lunch. I also helped them clean up the house after the kitchen tasks. In the afternoon, my brother and I took a round of the village and delivered lunch at my uncle’s shop. The rest of the afternoon was spent in slumber after having a heavy diet and loads of gossip.

The evening time in the village was the time for which I waited with a lot of excitement. One evening we went to the village well where women went to fetch drinking water. It was great to see them balance the pots full of water and walk back in a row. But the main treat was to see the confidence and happiness on their faces. The village also encompassed a big playground that used to be full of kids during the evening hours.

Our aunt and uncle also took us to the farm to show us the beautiful process of growing and nurturing fruits and vegetables. Looking at the farmers putting so much effort into their harvest and faces during the harvesting time was a great sight.

I also went to one of the panchayats going on in the village under a banyan tree, where issues of the village were being solved by the elders of the village with the consent of all other people of the village. This is where I witnessed a small example of democracy.

The simplicity of life in the village is where its beauty lies. My visit to the village always teaches me compassion and love towards our family.

We had planned the trip for 5 days. So in the evening of our first day of the trip, we went to the mall road and Jhaku hills which are known as the main tourist spots in the city. In the evening, many different activities are going on there. It was amazing to witness the nightlife of Shimla. We visited the Footloose Discotheque, full of vibrant people and buzzed with great music.

Our next day included traveling on the toy train. This toy train here runs from Kalka to Shimla. There are only 3 such trains in our country, and one of them is here. It’s an amusing experience to travel through them irrespective of the fact that they are slow. The evening was spent doing snow adventures such as skiing and bungee jumping.

The next days were spent visiting places near Shimla, such as Chail, Kufri, and Chitkul. These places can be visited for some snow adventure besides enjoying their beautiful scenic beauty.

Shimla is also a good treat for foodies like me. A bizarre thing about Shimla’s food is – that tiny diners or cafes are offering just fast food, a variety of teas and cold drinks, or fancy eateries that have overpriced alcohol on the menus – there is no ground in between. We had salami burgers at Beekays, which were delicious.

During all these days filled with loads of activities to do, we used to get tired in the evening, but the nightlife there or just staring at the starry sky gave us an immense sense of joy and filled us with new energy. There is enchanting music from tall trees standing upright there, curvy roads that make one look at those beautiful hills from all angles, and that lively breeze that fills one’s soul and heart with ecstasy.

We came back to Delhi after spending five fun-filled days in Shimla. The memory of this trip is fresh in my head. Shimla is indeed the queen of hill stations. I would love to revisit the place.

My parents, siblings, and cousins surrounded me. There was excitement on everyone’s face. Being a full extended family vacation with all my cousins, aunts, and uncles, it seemed super fun from the time we set out in cabs to the airport. It was not my first time being amidst the clouds, but it was my first international flight giving a magnificent view of the night lights of the complete city, and looking at that, I knew that this trip was going to be a one-of-a-kind experience for me.

Landing in Hong Kong, I was taken aback by the mere sight of their airport. I think they lived to the “first impression is the last impression.” I was amazed beyond imagination, but somewhere, I knew this was just the beginning. The first day at this beautiful place mainly consisted of exploring the streets of this breathtaking city, which was rich in fashion, food, tech, and everything that screamed modern and at the same time archaic in their way of life.

The next place we visited was what all of us had dreamed of visiting for a long. It was the mesmerizing Disneyland. The first thing that caught my attention was not the people around dressed in Disney characters or the marvelous expanse of the space and rides and shops but the castle at the far end – The Disney Castle. It was just spectacular. The very charm and enchantment of it knocked me out of breath. The fireworks at night after a complete parade show make you wonder if you had crossed a line and entered the fantasy world. It had been much more than I imagined, even in my make-believe.

The next was a traveling day as we moved to our next destination Malaysia. The City gateway was the complete opposite of where we came from. This city did not have many skyscrapers, but the beautifully spread horizontal city was rich in culture and diversity. The exquisiteness of mosques, museums, and heritage sites perfectly blend with the city’s modern lifestyle and layout. The hilltop parts of the country, like Genting Highlands, could be called heaven on earth. The beaches here offer a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. I am glad we choose this as our last destination during this trip.

This has been one of the best holidays I have ever gone on. I saw so many beautiful places, had great experiences, and spent a lot of time with my loving family. My last summer vacation was indeed the best so far.

Summer vacation is the most awaited time of the year by the students. With almost a year of classes, schedules, tests, and examinations behind them, they look forward to a joyous and relaxed month. Summer vacation could be spent in many ways, depending on your choices and preferences—some like playing and visiting places, while others prefer watching TV and their favorite movies.

I wouldn’t say I like watching TV, even when my parents don’t object. My heart craves the woods and the serenity of nature, away from the hustle-bustle of everyday existence. I have always wanted to visit forests and similar landscapes in the lap of nature.

Below I have narrated a journey to a few places I took during my last summer vacation. Though I returned and joined the school after that, the memories of the journey and the places are deeply engraved in my heart.

The journey started with a visit from my town to my ancestral village and then to a wildlife reserve, which I am sure you too will plan to go on this vacation, after going through my experiences.

At Village with my Grandparents

The journey began on the next day of my summer vacation. My father made these arrangements well in advance, supposedly when I was preparing for my exams. When I came back home after writing my last exam, my mother and sister were already packing for the journey. Though I knew we would visit our grandparent’s village and stay there for a couple of days, I had no idea about the further planned trip.

The journey to the village was smooth. We started well ahead of the train’s arrival time and reached the platform before its arrival time. It is three hours of a train journey from my city to the grandparent’s village, passing through lush green agricultural fields and glimpses of village life.

When we got off the train, I saw my grandfather waving and walking toward us, accompanied by my cousins. After exchanging initial greetings, we walked towards our house a couple of kilometers from the station. Though there is a road to reach the house, we took rather secluded trails, passing through the fields.

Something is mesmerizing about an Indian villages ; the cool breeze, the peace and calm, the smell and sound of cattle, and the distant sound of a pumping set from the fields entices you and makes you cherish every passing moment.

The food, milk, and even water taste much better in the village than in the city. We stayed in the village for four days, during which I met many of my relatives, elders, and friends from the village. I even went to our family’s agricultural field and learned a few tips for farming. Four days passed quickly, and the day soon arrived when we had to move on a further journey. However, it appeared that a few surprises were waiting for me.

Trip to the Dudhwa National Park

When the day arrived, I was in for two surprises firstly, that we were going to “Dudhwa National Park” and secondly that my grandparents were also going with us.

Dudhwa tiger reserve is a protected area spanning over 1280 sq km in Uttar Pradesh. It stretches across the districts of Lakhimpur Kheri and Bahraich, sharing the northeastern boundary with Nepal.

We boarded the train to Bareilly from Varanasi, an unforgettable overnight journey spent with family and like-minded wildlife enthusiasts, traveling to the same destination as us. From Bareilly, we took a connecting train to Dudhwa, which is approximately a distance of 12 kilometers.

We reached the park in the evening and stayed in a simple yet comfortable resort, having all the comforts and basic amenities. The staff was accommodating, and the food was simply delicious. The resort was securely surrounded by forest on all s, use and was well guarded. We fell to sleep listening to the voices of jungle fowls and animals from a distance.

The next morning we all woke up early and got ready for the jungle safari. The forest deforests deforest department organized the safari in anth a guard and an experienced guide onboard. As soon as we entered the forest, we started seeing birds and animals, which we had only seen in books and television. Birds like Bengal Florican and great slaty woodpecker were a delight to watch. Different species of lizards were also seen crawling to cover.

As we progressed deeper, many species of deer- swamp deer, barasingha, and chital came into view. We were also lucky enough to spot barking deer, which is very difficult due to its shy nature. We were lucky enough to spot a tiger lurking in the bushes on our third and last day. With this last sighting, our journey ended, and we headed back home on the same evening.

Summer vacation is the best time in any student’s life. A month or more of a fun time at your disposal is nothing less than a blessing. There are several ways to spend a summer vacation, although we must spend it in such a way that we learn new things and gain new experiences.
