Principal Mary Galvin

A few words from the Principal………

It has been a privilege for me to take on the role of Principal at Coláiste Na Toirbhirte in Bandon.

This dynamic and vibrant all-girls secondary school is familiar to my own experience as a student and also as a teacher in years past. I am proud to become a member of the staff at Coláiste Na Toirbhirte where students are encouraged to reach their academic potential while also developing their interest in sports, music and the Arts. I am excited by the opportunity to support our infamous annual musical performance amongst a range of other initiatives and activities which help to great the bustle of joy and fun in our school life.

I want to acknowledge the contribution of all stakeholders in our school community as I embrace my new role as Principal. A special word of thanks to Mary O’Donovan who recently retired as Principal from our school. Mary’s support and encouragement enabled us to move forward into the new school year despite the challenges faced in the current climate.  I look forward with enthusiasm to the years ahead.

Mary Galvin

Remembering especially Venerable Nano Nagle who founded the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and pioneer of Catholic education in Ireland.

News from the Religion Department

Congratulations and best wishes to those in first year, receiving the sacrament of Confirmation this September and October. Religion teachers are using resources from the Diocese of Cork and Ross to prepare students for this.

The Religion Department are working with Fr. John O’ Donovan to plan a ‘virtual’ school mass, to take place next month. Religion classes are focusing on community spirit and a community of faith as we return to school.
