Instructions-Equivalency/Recognition

• For registration, use your personal mobile number and e-mail ID . Messages will be sent to the registered mobile number/e-mail ID only.
• Login with user name and Password sent to your mobile number/email ID.
• Recognition/equivalency is granted to various programmes of other Universities/Institutes approved by the Academic Council of this University and candidates, therefore, shall check the status of recognition/equivalency in the list provided. Candidates shall also go through the University Regulations on Recognition and Equivalency of Programmes of Study and ensure their eligibility for recognition/equivalency certificate.
• Recognition is granted to the regular programmes of State or Central University or Deemed University/Private University recognised by the UGC or foreign universities recognised by the Association of Indian Universities or reputed national institutions such as IIM, IIT, IISc, IISER and NIT and other National level Institutions funded by Government. In the case of Foreign Universities, candidates shall produce Recognition Certificate from the AIU.
• Equivalency is granted to regular programmes of State or Central Universities or reputed national institutions such as IIM, IIT, IISc, IISER and NIT provided that the nomenclature and duration of the programme is the same as that of this University.
• Recognition certificate is issed to PhD Programmes of central/state/deemed universities. Candidates shall upload a ‘Norms Certificate’ from the Registrar of the University concerned (Norms Certificate specifying that the Ph.D has been awarded to the candidate as per UGC norms and regulations) in addition to qualifying certificate. (candidates who did Ph.D prior to 2009 and those who did Ph.D in IIM, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, NIT and NIST need not upload norms certificate).
• Candidates who did Ph.D in foreign universities shall upload qualifying certificate and recognition certificate from AIU.
• No online application shall be submitted for recognition/equivalency of programmes which have not been recognised/made equivalent by this University. Candidates shall ensure that the programme is recognised/equivalent before submitting application.
• Candidates shall fill in the application correctly & upload all the documents required viz, consolidated marklists/mark lists, provisional/original degree certificate & TC or any other valid document to prove mode of study. Candidates applying for equivalency to distance education programmes shall upload marklists & certificates from SSLC onwards including TC or CC. Students deserving marks relaxation shall also upload the Community Certificate.
• Candidates shall enter only exact details in the application form and upload the original documents. Applicant will alone be responsible for providing false information & uploading fraudulent documents.
• In case of defective application, sms will be sent to the registered mobile Number/E-mail ID. Defects must be rectified within 15 days.
• After verification an sms/email will be sent to your registered mobile/email ID. If you are eligible you may remit the fee and make final submission of your application.
• Once the Recognition/Equivalency Certificate is approved, SMS will be sent to the registered mobile number/e-mail ID.The candidate shall login using user name and Password & download the Certificate within one month from the date of approval.
• Since the Equivalency Certificate is digitally generated, it does not require any signature. Authenticity of the certificate issued can be verified using QR code.
• Application Fee : Equivalency/Rocognition certificate for those who passed degree/PG  Rs.555/-

Calicut University PhD Admissions 2022:   Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the PhD programme under the streams (1) Full-time and (2) Part-time under the faculties of Science, Language & Literature, Fine Arts, Humanities, Commerce, Journalism, and Education, of this University. • Candidates must have a Masters degree or a professional degree from a recognized University which is equivalent to the Master's degree of Calicut University.
• Candidate must have 55% marks in aggregate
• A candidate might have any foreign degree equivalent to Calicut University’s Master's degree.
• Schedule Castes and Scheduled Tribes would be given a relaxation of 10% from a secured 45% or 55%.
• OBC candidates can opt for a 5% relaxation in 50% to 55% marks obtained in graduation.
• The same relaxation applies for the physically disabled.
• Candidates who have passed M.Phil with a minimum of 55% marks are eligible for the PhD programme.
• SC/ST candidates are given a relaxation of 10% in 50% - 55% marks. A similar relaxation would be given to the OBC and the physically handicapped.
• A candidate who has qualified the written of M.Phil but is left with the viva can also apply for PhD in this institute.
• Candidates holding a degree of any foreign institute can also apply if the international degree is equivalent to the Indian M.Phil degree.
• Others eligible for the course are people working in institutes, national laboratories, universities, government organisations, teachers of universities and those who are self-employed.

Instructions to Fill the Application form of Calicut University PhD Admissions 2022

• The Applicant must read the complete Notification before applying Online
• The candidate should have an active e-Mail ID, which should be kept active till the completion of the admission process. 
• The applicant must have a personal mobile number which should be provided during the application process, in case the candidate does not have mobile number, he/she can give the parent's mobile number. 

Listed below is the step-by-step process to apply for PhD admissions 2022 at Calicut University. Candidates have to apply in the online mode by following the steps given below:

Step -1: CAP ID Creation

• Candidates applying for PhD 2022 shall initially create a CAP ID by providing the mobile number in the "REGISTER" link on PhD 2022 registration page.
• After successful verification of the mobile number via OTP, a CAP ID and Password (Security Key) will be sent to the registered mobile number (Mobile number of students/ parents/ guardian shall only be furnished).

Step -2:  Registration Completion and Making Payment 

• With the CAP ID and Password (Security Key) received in the registered mobile number, the candidate can log in and fill the registration page by providing the required data
• Candidates shall take utmost care while selecting the reservation category during the filling up of registration data. 
• For completing the registration, the candidate shall click on the "Final Submit & Pay" button and make a payment.
• An online registration fee of Rs. 750/- for the General Category and Rs.280/- for the SC/ST Category will have to be paid by the candidates for completing the registration procedure.
• A candidate's application will be considered complete only if he/she has completed the above-mentioned steps and is holding a finalised printout showing the approved stamp on the candidate's photo
• All candidates including entrance exempted candidates, shall register online for seeking admission to PhD programme 2022.
• Printouts of the PhD applications shall not be sent by the applicants to the departments concerned. Instead, the application printouts may be submitted by the students at the time of admission at the departments/research centres. 

The following documents need to be submitted along with the Calicut University PhD application form 2022:

• Self-attested copies of mark sheet
• E Challan receipt
• Community Certificate [for SC/ST]
• A self-addressed stamped envelope of size 23 x 10 cm

Candidates have to submit the application fee for Calicut University PhD application form 2022. The application fee for general candidates is Rs.750 and fee for SC/SC candidates is Rs.280. The payment will take place through SBI. 

• During the payment, the website will be redirected to the University of Calicut Instant Web Payment System (CUIWPS) page where the student can select the desired choice of payment.
• After successful payment, candidates can take the printout of the application after re-login by using the CAP ID and Password (Security Key) provided earlier.
• In case, the payment fails, the candidate will have to re-login and do the payment procedure once again to complete the payment and obtain the printout of the application.
• Print out of the application will be provided only if the payment is successful.

Calicut University PhD selection process 2022 is done on the basis of various factors. Take a look at all the important factors taken into consideration for the selection of the candidate to the PhD course at Calicut University below:

• The admission procedure for PhD at the University of Calicut begins around May and June.
• The students shortlisted from the written exam and interview can directly apply to the college directly by paying the application fee.
• Admission to PhD is based on the rank secured in the entrance examination conducted by the Research Department and the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. 
• Candidates getting a minimum of 50% marks and, in the case of SC/ST categories of candidates a minimum of 40% marks and in the case of OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently-abled and other categories of candidates a minimum of 45% marks, as the case may be, in the entrance test are qualified to apply for registration to Ph.D. Programme.
• Admission of students who obtain the same marks in the entrance examination shall be decided first on the basis of the percentage of the PG marks/grades and then on the basis of age and then by name in alphabetical order unless otherwise specified.

Calicut University follows certain PhD exemption rules for PhD admissions 2022. Given below are the Calicut University PhD exemption rules 2022

• UGC-CSIR-NET / JRF , UGC-NET /JRF, SLET, and  GATE qualified students can apply for the PhD course and are exempted from the Entrance test.
• Candidates who have been approved by the government for a research fellowship can also apply for a PhD and would be exempted from the entrance exam.
• Full-time teachers of university and colleges aided by the Government.
• Foreign nationals are eligible
• Full-time students who have been selected on the basis of written and viva and are working for some research projects.
• M.Phil degree holders are exempted from the entrance exam

Calcutta University PhD programme tuition fee is Rs. 4,041. The university is yet to release the official fee structure for the upcoming academic year. The University may change the fee without prior notice. Candidates can visit the official site for more details regarding the fee structure.

The reservation policy applicable to University Teaching Departments shall be followed at all the research departments/centres. Open quota and mandatory reservation seats shall be distributed as follows:

Note: 10% reservation for EWS will be complied with during the implementation of the reservation roaster for PhD admissions. Candidates who wish to avail reservation under EWS will have to produce at the time of admission a community certificate along with an AAY certificate or Income & Assets Certificate (4 Lakhs or below). Reservation:- 5% of seats should be set apart for the PwD (Persons with Disabilities) category, within the sanctioned seats, for PhD courses.

Formats of certificates.

Salient Features of Ph.D. Programme

Doctoral Programmes are offered in all Departments and Schools. Admissions to the Ph.D. programme of the institute are carried out as per schemes I – VI as detailed below.

Scheme I : Full-time registration with Institute Fellowship or other Govt. Fellowships like CSIR-UGC JRF/KSCSTE/INSPIRE/QIP etc. The full-time registrants admitted through scheme I will work on full-time basis at the institute and are eligible to receive financial assistance in the form of Institute Fellowship or other Govt. Fellowships like CSIR-UGC JRF/KSCSTE/INSPIRE/QIP etc. as applicable to the scholar. Such candidates are required to perform the teaching assistantship and other duties assigned by the department from time to time. Candidates with B.E/B.Tech/B.Arch/B.Plan/B.Des degree who meet eligibility criteria as notified in the information brochure can also join as a fulltime registrant for Direct PhD programme under Scheme I.

Scheme II : Full-time registration under the Self-Sponsored category. The full-time registrants admitted through scheme II shall work on full-time basis at the institute and are not eligible to receive financial assistance in the form of institute fellowship. However, such candidates can avail financial assistance from other agencies, by applying through proper channels.

Scheme III : Full-time registration for candidates sponsored from Industry or other organizations including Educational Institutions. The full-time registrants admitted through scheme  III will work on full-time basis at the institute and are not eligible to receive financial assistance in the form of institute fellowship. Such candidates are required to be sponsored by their parent organization for pursuing the PhD programme on a full time basis in the Institute.

Scheme IV : Internal Registration for regular staff employed at NITC/ Research staff employed in funded projects at NITC . The Institute offers Ph.D. Programme under Internal registration for regular employees of the Institute. They need to apply for the same at the normal time of admission with the recommendation of the Head of the Department (HoD) in which the candidate is employed in the Institute. Such candidates are required to perform the regular duties assigned by the institute from time to time. Project Staff, who are working on sponsored research projects in the institute are also eligible for registration under this scheme if they apply for the same at the normal time for admission with the recommendation of the Principal Investigator, HoD and Dean (R&C). A certificate to this effect should be attached alongwith the application form. Such project staff shall register for Ph. D programme under Internal Scheme, once they successfully complete the Institute admission process for the Ph. D programme.

Scheme V : External Registration for candidates from Industry or other organizations including Educational Institutions. This scheme is for candidates employed in Govt/Industry/R&D Organizations/Educational Institutions. The applicant must be a regular employee of the institution/organization with relevant experience and be engaged in professional work in the broad area to which admission is sought. A no objection cum experience certificate issued by the competent authority of the parent organization needs to be submitted while applying for the programme. Such candidates will pursue the PhD programme along with their regular job at parent institute. There is no mandatory residential requirement for these candidates, however they are required to complete the formalities such as Coursework, Semester registration, DC meetings, Comprehensive examination, open seminar, synopsis submission and Thesis submission as per the relevant sections of  applicable ordinances and  regulations. These candidates are required to work on a PhD topic assigned by the guide. However, those external registrants having facility to carry out research work at the parent institute can be permitted by the guide to work on a research problem relevant to the parent institute.

Scheme VI : This scheme is specifically for External Registration to Direct PhD programme by candidates working in industry who do not have a post graduate degree but have relevant experience in reputed Industry. This scheme  permits the combination of Direct PhD and External registration for working professionals from reputed industries. There is no mandatory residential requirement for these candidates, however they are required to complete the formalities as per the relevant sections of  applicable ordinances and  regulations.

While a total of 300 seats are allocated per year for scheme I and II together there is no cap on admission for PhD in other schemes provided the research area matches with that of the Department/School/Faculty Member concerned. Admissions to the doctoral programmes are through merit based selection processes done twice a year.The academic qualification and other eligibility criteria for admissions to different schemes will be notified in the information brochure for the PhD programme published by the institute in the respective academic session. For all schemes PhD scholars are selected  based on written tests and/or interviews conducted by the Institute and/or their performance in national level examinations such as  GATE / NET / JEST/ NBHM. It is advised that prospective candidates visit the relevant web pages of Departments/School/Faculty members to understand the areas of research as well as expertise of the research supervisors available in the Institute from time to time.

About the University

The University of Mumbai (known earlier as University of Bombay) is one of the oldest and premier Universities in India.

It was established in 1857 consequent upon “Wood’s Education Dispatch”, and it is one amongst the first three Universities in India. As a sequel to the change in the name of the city from Bombay to Mumbai, the name of the University has been changed from “University of Bombay” to “University of Mumbai”, vide notification issued by the Government of Maharashtra and published in the Government Gazette dated 4th September, 1996.The University was accorded 5 star status in 2001 & ‘A++’ grade status in April 2017 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
