Using a Mac with PowerPoint is simple. First, make sure you have PowerPoint installed on your Mac. You can find it at the App Store or through a Microsoft 365 subscription. Open PowerPoint, and you’ll be greeted with a range of templates to start your presentation. From here, you can add text, images, and animations to create an engaging slideshow. Once done, you can present directly from your Mac or save your presentation to share with others.

After you’ve completed your PowerPoint presentation on your Mac, you’ll have a professional and compelling visual aid to support your speech or lecture. You can also share it with others or export it into different formats such as PDF, video, or even a web page.

Introduction

Are you ready to impress your audience with a stunning presentation? If you’re a Mac user, fear not – using PowerPoint on your macOS is as smooth as on any Windows PC. Let’s be honest, presentations are a part of life: whether you’re a student, a professional, or just someone with a story to tell, at some point, you’re going to need to put some slides together. PowerPoint for Mac has all the tools you need to create a presentation that’s both visually captivating and content-rich.

Why is this important? Well, PowerPoint presentations are a staple in the professional world. They’re used for everything from business pitches to academic lectures. Knowing how to create an effective PowerPoint presentation on your Mac could be the difference between persuading your audience or leaving them unimpressed. And who is this relevant to? Everyone! Whether you’re a newbie to presentations or a seasoned speaker looking to refine your skills, this guide will help you master PowerPoint on your Mac.

Step-by-Step Tutorial: Using PowerPoint on a Mac

Before jumping in, let’s clarify what you’ll achieve by following these steps. By the end, you’ll be able to create, edit, and present a PowerPoint slideshow on your Mac.

Step 1: Install PowerPoint

Install PowerPoint on your Mac from the App Store or through a Microsoft 365 subscription.

After installing PowerPoint, you’ll need to sign in with your Microsoft account to activate the software, then you’ll be ready to start creating your presentation.

Step 2: Open PowerPoint

Open PowerPoint and choose a template or open a blank presentation.

PowerPoint offers a variety of templates to suit different presentation styles. If you choose to start with a blank slate, you’ll have complete creative freedom.

Step 3: Add Content

Add slides and content such as text, images, and shapes to your presentation.

Remember to keep your slides simple and not clutter them with too much content. Visual aids should support your speech, not replace it.

Step 4: Customize Your Slides

Customize your slides’ design with themes, colors, and animations.

This step is where you can get creative with your presentation’s look and feel. Just be sure not to go overboard with animations – they should enhance your presentation, not distract from it.

Step 5: Present Your Slideshow

Present your slideshow directly from your Mac or save it to share with others.

You can start your presentation by clicking the ‘Slide Show’ tab and then ‘Play from Start’. Make sure you practice your presentation beforehand to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Apple keynote: how to make an interactive presentation..

Although we have all heard of Powerpoint as a powerful tool for presentations, I believe that after using the Apple keynote, I have also learned that it can be used to create impressive and engaging presentations.

In this story I’m going to show you how we can create and Deliver a Killer Keynote Presentation using Keynote

Set it up correctly :

Start Keynote, then choose a Theme . Choosing an appropriate theme can save you time and effort in redefining styles, backgrounds, and image formatting.

Planning your content :

The Slide is the core component of Keynote, so it’s best to view your interactive piece as a series of small, slide-sized chunks. If you want to tell an interactive narrative, you’ll want to write it one slide at a time in words, images, video, or short animations.

Create your content :

The first page will be a title slide , so write a good welcome text ,Also use simplify charts and graphs to present your data,Always try to put points in further interactive way so that viewer can understand and grasp the slides veritably and fluently. it'll also helps to make the bystander always stick with the slide.

Short animations :

  • On the slide, click to select the object you want to animate.
  • In the Animate sidebar, click the Animate tab.
  • Click Add an Effect, then select an animation.
  • To set animation options such as the duration and direction of the animation, use the controls that appear.(Start Transition,Delay)

A Good Animation can help make a PowerPoint presentation more dynamic, and help make information more memorable. The most common types of animation effects include entrances and exits. You can also add sound to increase the intensity of your animation effects.

Presentation experts recommend using animations and sound effects sparingly. Animation can be useful in making a presentation more dynamic, and help to emphasize points, but too much animation can be distracting. Do not let animation and sound take the focus away from what you are saying.

Present it! :

Go ahead — press Play and test out your presentation. Everything should work as you’d expect, and you can press Escape to exit. Save your Presentation to iCloud, then open it on your iPad, and everything will work just the same there.

You have some great tips. I also appreciate the paragraph about using sounds and animations sparingly. It never fails when I introduce Keynote to students, that their first presentation has sounds and animations for everything. Thank you for sharing, Keynote is one of my favorite apps.

There's nothing like a great, well-thought-out Keynote. Thanks for sharing your step-by-step guide.

Another great tips would be to use purposeful animation. If your an explaining how gravity work, using the anvil composition to have an object (or even the word GRAVITY) fall for the sky and land in a smoke dust deliver a message out the topic. And you are right to use is sparingly, use it to gain focus, to surprise you listener.

Great topic and explanation!

What to Know

  • From the Mac App Store: Apple Menu > App Store > search for PowerPoint > Get > Install > enter Apple ID if prompted > Open .
  • PowerPoint requires a subscription from Microsoft. You can sign up via In-App Purchase or at the Microsoft website.
  • Keynote, Apple's alternative to PowerPoint, comes pre-installed on new Macs (and can be downloaded from the Mac App Store).

This article explains how to get PowerPoint on Mac, its requirements—including a subscription—and some free alternatives available on the Mac.

How Do I Get PowerPoint on Mac?

Getting PowerPoint on your Mac is very easy. Just a few clicks, and you'll be ready to start making slides and building presentations. Here's what to do:

Open the Mac App Store by going to the Apple menu > App Store or the Applications folder > App Store .

You can also download PowerPoint directly from Microsoft , but these instructions focus on the Mac App Store.

Search for PowerPoint .

On the search results screen, click Get .

Click Install .

Enter your Apple ID password when prompted.

When the download is finished, click Open to launch PowerPoint.

Once you've opened PowerPoint, you'll need to sign into your Microsoft account or use a free trial.

Is PowerPoint Free for the Mac?

PowerPoint is not free on the Mac (or on Windows, for that matter). Microsoft offers a free, 30-day trial after you download PowerPoint. Once the free trial expires, you need to pay to keep using the app. Options include a one-time purchase price or a monthly or annual subscription , which provides cloud storage features and ongoing technical support. You can subscribe through Microsoft's website or use in-app purchases via your Apple ID.

Do Macs Come With PowerPoint?

No. To get PowerPoint on your Mac, you need to download and install it using the steps from the first section of this article (or, as noted before, directly from Microsoft).

What Is the Mac Version of PowerPoint?

While PowerPoint may be the most well-known program for making slides and creating presentations, it's far from the only one. Your Mac probably came with one of the alternatives pre-installed.

Apple makes a program called Keynote which is a direct competitor to PowerPoint. It offers all of the core features of PowerPoint—creating slides and presentations, animations, templates, presenter mode, etc. It integrates tightly with Apple's other software and services like iCloud.

Keynote comes pre-installed for free on all modern Macs. It's likely in your Applications folder as you read this. If it's not, and if your Mac and version of the macOS are compatible with it, you can download it for free from the Mac App Store by searching for "Keynote."

Need to make slides and want to avoid both PowerPoint and Keynote? There are many other PowerPoint alternatives , but one place to start is Google Slides , which is free, web-based, and integrates with your Google account and other Google productivity tools.

To print PowerPoint slides with Notes on a Mac, open your presentation and select Print . In the Print dialog box, select Show Details . In the Layout box, select Notes . Configure the rest of your printing options and select Print .

The easiest way to record a voiceover in PowerPoint on a Mac is to record by slide. Select the slide where you want to add the narration, then select  Insert from the menu bar and click Audio > Record Audio . Enter a name for the narration, select Record , read your script, and select Stop when you're finished recording.

To convert PowerPoint to video on a Mac, open the presentation you want to save and select File > Export . In the export window, next to File Format , select a file format option, such as MP4 or MOV . Choose your video quality, choose whether you want to include narrations, adjust timing, and select Export .

PowerPoint for Mac: Best tips for a successful presentation

  • 0 Shares Share

PowerPoint for Mac | Presentation

The maxim of “Death by PowerPoint” does not fit in today’s tech-savvy era. Numerous startups and corporates pitch their ideas to their clients through presentations every day. They leverage stunning templates to design them and sweep their stakeholders off their feet. Slideshows hold an enormous audio-visual appeal that helps you to hook your audience throughout.

Whether it is Keynote or PowerPoint, showcasing a slideshow on your Mac must appear seamless. Be it slide layout, design, visuals, or overall aesthetics, a collection of well-thought, pixel-perfect slides is the key to presentation success. So, how to craft splendid and eye-catching Mac presentations? This article will enlighten you perfectly. Let us begin!

Here are seven best tips for creating successful and compelling presentations on your Mac:

Minimalistic slides

Gone are the times when people assumed that designing a ppt meant overloading it with information. You’ll be doing your audience a huge favor if you opt for minimalism in your slide content. Often presenters overload the slides unnecessarily and thus, end up overwhelming the audience. Embed your decks with one topic per slide. Ensure that you build your pitch decks with less text and more graphics. Keeping the slide content simple and precise will bestow your MAC slideshow with a decluttered look. It will help you to further your brand aesthetics as well.

You may consider following the famous 10-20-30 rule of PowerPoint presentations. The rule states that your presentation should be no longer than ten slides. It must not take beyond 20 minutes to deliver the entire presentation. And at last, the slides should feature a font size of at least 30 px. The revolutionary 10-20-30 rule helps you keep your slides minimalistic, deliver a captivating presentation and engage with the audience like never before.

Engaging multimedia

Humans have a limited attention span. Keeping this in mind, you must always integrate enchanting visuals to liven up your presentation. Employ vector images, 1080p videos, infographics, and GIFs to render the slides attractive. The truth is, no one likes to read raw data right off the slides! As a presenter, you should consider transforming raw data into engaging visuals that bind the interest of the audience to the presentation.

The incorporation of audio and other media forms assists you with a seamless slideshow. You can infuse your slides with visuals corresponding to your presentation topic. It will work as a double-edged sword. First, it will garner your slides appealing. Second, it will reinforce the textual content in your audience’s minds as well. Hence, slides without dedicated multimedia contribute to the phenomenon ‘Death By PowerPoint’.

Top-notch templates

Breaking the monotony of stock templates in your Mac is essential to stay a step ahead of your competitors. Utilizing age-old templates will not impress your clients as effectively as you desire. There is a high chance that your audience is already familiar with the stock template from some other presentation. Hence, the wow factor goes for a toss!

Well, you can leverage ready-to-use PowerPoint templates from SlideModel that offer 100% customization, superior graphics, and pixel-perfect design. Users can utilize the avant-garde slide templates to boost their presentation goals. The goal here is to woo the audience with your presentations’ design! Gorgeous graphics and tailor-made slide content will save your precious time from making a presentation from scratch. This business Pitch Deck PowerPoint Template is a boon for all entrepreneurs to construct wow-worthy pitches.

Elegant color-palette

An excellent way to highlight the key points of your Mac slideshow is to create a color contrast on the slides. You can design your slides in relevance to your brand colors or choose a vibrant color scheme. A golden tip here is to blend your presentation with high-contrast colors. It will aid you and your audience in capturing the slide essence. Place the dark-toned text with a light-toned background and light-colored slide content on a dark background. It will bring out the effect of aesthetic contrast.

A great tip here is embedding your presentation with your brand colors for making it impressive beyond measure. Choose only two to three colors throughout to maintain an equilibrium. One should try not to use all the contrast colors to attract the audience. Design consistency in your slides is a key to presentation success. Rather than overwhelming the audience with different high-contrast, mismatching colors, try to include a couple of color schemes and palettes across your presentation.

Captivating data visuals

Whether you’re presenting to an assembly of investors, pitching to a client, or presenting a company’s quarterly results, always back your data with rich visuals. Rather than reading random numbers from the slides, you should introduce a wow factor to your slides by leveraging state-of-the-art data visualizations. Render your PowerPoint presentations on Mac an awe-inspiring look with data visuals such as 3D charts, diagrams, infographics & graphs.

Display your research and statistics with mind-blowing data visuals. Employ alluring charts, tables, diagrams, trend lines, shapes, and infographics. You can color-code them to show comparisons and differences. Choose data visuals for bullets to leave an indelible mark on your audience. Projecting data with these tools helps your clients to retain information and comprehend it as well. SlideModel offers innumerable templates with exemplary data visuals for influencing the audience.

Hierarchical structure

Many people do not know the fact that information displayed first captures the attention of your audience before others. Thus, visual hierarchy is a way to organize your slide content based on its importance. Every presentation is intended to initiate a call-to-action amidst the audience. Presenters can reinforce the critical subject content through rich hierarchical structures. Prioritize placing the slide content in a manner that you want your clients to see initially.

Recognize the slide elements in the order of their significance and place them accordingly. Use good contrast placements, bolder texts, and large visuals. This way, your stakeholders will view your highlighted information first and then move to the other content. Hence, with your presentations, be it remote or in-person, you can encourage your audience to close the deal with you rather than missing the opportunity.

Master the typography

Every slideshow looks tidy when crafted with good typography. Apply corporate-grade typography fonts such as Helvetica instead of unprofessional or artistic Comic Sans. It assists in keeping easy readability for your slide content, plus helps in boosting the integrity of the content. Remember to place the size of your fonts as 30 px or more for your audience in the back as well. You won’t want your audience to squint their eyes while seeing your ppt.

Typography Anatomy

As a presenter, you should always take care of the content length. One should avoid typing hefty paragraphs. Instead, go for one-liners and bullets. You may use six bullet points in each slide. Another great tip is to position the title of your slide to a slightly bigger font than the text. While presenting, you can further elongate the one-liners and help your audience understand the crux of the subject matter without throwing them off the track.

Mac PowerPoint presentations having a beautiful style can result in having a colossal effect on your audience. A well-crafted PowerPoint presentation can be a deciding factor between a closed deal and a missed opportunity.

Keep these seven enlightening and professional tips in your mind before structuring your next ideal presentation. Integrate a pinch of style, creativity, and vigor in your slide deck to create modernistic slides. The key is to attract your audience with minimalistic, yet engaging slide content.

How to Make a Power Point Presentation on a Mac

Even if you do not have Microsoft Office installed on your Mac computer, you can still create presentations that are compatible with the PowerPoint program. With the Keynote application, part of the iWork suite of programs, Mac users can design slides and slideshows and then export their presentations as PowerPoint documents. These slideshows can then be viewed and edited on any computer with PowerPoint installed on it.

Open the Keynote application by clicking on its icon in the Dock.

Video of the Day

Select a theme for your presentation from the list of options and then click on the "Choose" button.

Click on the "New" button in the upper-left corner of the application windows to create a new slide in your presentation.

Use the text, shape and media options in the top menu bar to add different elements to your slides.

Go to "File" in the top menu bar when you are finished designing your presentation and choose the "Export" option.

Select "PowerPoint" in the pop-up window and then click "Next."

Type in a name for the presentation and decide where to save it. Then click "Export." This will convert your presentation to a PowerPoint compatible file and save it to the location you selected.

It's impressive and convenient that all Macs come preinstalled with robust and well-integrated presentation software like Keynote. For most people, it means they do not need to purchase third-party software.

However, while Keynote works great with your Mac and other Apple products, it's often not enough when you want to come up with creative slideshow presentations.

Fortunately, you can explore several Keynote alternatives to find something better. In this guide, we have covered the five best Keynote alternatives to create better slideshow presentations.

1. Microsoft PowerPoint

PowerPoint for Mac

It has become almost customary for many Mac users to install Microsoft Office when setting up their Mac desktop or notebook. In their defense, Microsoft PowerPoint offers a better environment to build creative slideshow presentations for different purposes. More importantly, PPT files from PowerPoint also get broad support across popular platforms like Windows, Linux, Android, and iOS.

First, PowerPoint offers a richer and more up-to-date collection of templates to choose from. You can also download PPT templates from third-party sources. Second, compared to Keynote, PowerPoint offers more options for customizing the presentation. For instance, you can expect a more versatile collection of fonts, animations, transitions, etc.

We should also remember that PowerPoint uses a UI that most people are familiar with. So, if you use other Microsoft Office products, PowerPoint will be easy to manage than Keynote.

Canva for Mac

While Canva is not as old as Keynote or primary alternatives, it helps several times better when you want an eye-catching slideshow presentation. Canva is primarily a web-based designing tool, but its Mac app also does a decent job.

We don't think it's as customizable as PowerPoint, but Canva has many innovative features . You can, for instance, bring in modern design elements and stock photos in a single click. Similarly, you can use design assets from previous projects on Canva. You also have the option to export your presentation into various formats like PDF, PNG, and MP4.

Compared to Keynote, Canva offers a dynamic collection of purpose-oriented templates. So, you can choose between starting from scratch or using a rich template. In the long run, Canva lets you create striking presentations and saves time. While some Canva features are premium-only, the free version works for most people.

3. Prezi Present

Prezi for Mac

Prezi Present is another great option for creating conversational presentation slideshows. It's powered by significant design refreshes and interactive slides, which make everything look more attractive. As a result, it becomes easier to communicate complex concepts through slideshows. So, it is unsurprising that many educators and business professionals use Prezi for Mac.

Even though you can use the web-based app for the same experience, the macOS app of Prezi is pretty impressive, as it's easier to include content stored on your Mac. It is also a better option when you want to present the slideshow from your MacBook. However, despite how aesthetically pleasing Prezi slideshows are, the file formats are not widely compatible.

Nevertheless, you can convert an existing PowerPoint presentation into a Prezi presentation. We should also remind you that a premium subscription for this tool gives you access to a video creation and design suite.

Download : Prezi Present (Free, premium subscription available)

Focusky for Mac

Unlike the other Keynote alternatives we have covered till now, Focusky has a slightly different objective. It is designed to help you create HTML5 slideshow presentations that work great on the web. Most of its core features are aligned with helping you build innovative business presentations. Therefore, you can easily find common elements like flow charts, graphs, and diagrams.

First, you can choose one of the many presentation templates from Focusky, which updates the collection often. But, even if you start with a blank project, you can choose between standard outlines for business presentations. Then, once you start, you can use Focusky to insert almost everything into the presentation, including shapes, screen recordings, images, and documents.

Things become more impressive when you want to export or publish the presentation. For example, you can convert the presentation into HTML5 or create a Windows app, macOS app, PDF, or video.

Download : Focusky (Free, premium subscription available)

5. WPS Office

WPS Office on Mac

WPS Office is a competitor to Apple's iWork Suite and a popular alternative to Microsoft Office 365 . So, its presentation app is better than Keynote in many aspects.

More importantly, the presentation app from WPS Office works with popular formats, including Microsoft PPT and Google Slides . However, compared to Keynote or Slides, WPS Office offers a versatile collection of creative templates.

We also love that the presentations app uses a UI design similar to that of Microsoft Office. So, if you switched from Windows to macOS, you can retain your workflow. The collection of transitions, fonts, and effects is also impressive. So, you'll find it easy to create a lesson plan for your course, a pitching presentation at work, or something out of the box.

Unlike Keynote, WPS Office works well with other third-party apps and offers multiple export options. Therefore, it will be easier when you want to convert your presentation into a video or PDF file.

Download : WPS Office (Free, in-app purchases available)

Powerpoint and Macbooks: How to use mirrored Presenter View in a 3 screen setup

Mac + Powerpoint

Using Powerpoint Presenter View for speakers on Corporate Events

When a presenter shows their Powerpoint-presentation from a stage or a studio, they usually want to see the presenter-view while they are talking. Here they can see their slides and presenter-notes.

presenter view Powerpoint Mac

The presenter-view in Powerpoint for mac.

In corporate events, there are two ways to play the presentation. For smaller events, the presenter can bring their own laptop to the stage and use this to play the presentation. By plugging the laptop straight to the projector, the presenter can see the presenter-view on the internal display, and the actual presentation is shown on the external display.

But for bigger events, the A/V team wants more control of the presentation-computer, so the presentation needs to be played from a computer placed at the Front of House. From there it can feed the projector, the streaming-device, and send the presenter-view to a separate monitor on the stage.

In order to display Presenter View on a separate display using laptops, you normally want to mirror your internal display with the stage monitor. Then both monitors will show the presenter view, and the external display will show the full presentation.

Screen setup when using a laptop placed at FOH to play the presentation. The laptop-display is mirrored with a monitor on the stage, and the projector shows the full presentation

MacBook screen setup for mirrored display

With Macs you can set up the screen-configuration from the Displays settings in System Preferences. (Example below is from Mac OS Ventura)

display settings in Mac OS Ventura with mirrored display in 3 screen setup

One of the external displays can mirror the main display.

arranged displays in Mac OS Ventura with 2 displays as mirrored

When you go to “arrange”, the stacked images shows which screens are mirrored.

In Powerpoint, make sure that presenter-view is enabled from the settings. Go to Slide Show from the preferences in the  top menu bar.

slides show preferences Powerpoint Mac

Go to “Set up slide show” from the Slide Show tab above the edit-window. Select Monitor 2 or Auto as the Slide Show monitor.

set up show Powerpoint Mac

You would assume that this would be enough to ensure that the presenter-screen is mirrored and the presentation shown on the external display. But, to our surprise, when we play the presentation, the presenter-view is no longer mirrored on the stage-monitor. Instead, only the desktop is shown:

mirrored display Powerpoint Mac with the wrong output as mirrored

In PC this works seamlessly. So why doesn’t it work in Mac? And can we solve it? Yes! After years of grey hair and frustration, I think I have finally found a way around this issue:

How to solve the problem – what works for me

  • Identify what Powerpoint means by Monitor  2

First you must stop all mirroring on your MacBook. Have your internal display set up as the Main display, and the two connected displays as extended. You will then have 3 separate displays in the display settings

arrange displays 3 screens extended Mac OS Ventura

Now go to Powerpoint. In the Slide Show settings, go to Set up slide show. Set the  Monitor  to Monitor 2, or Automatic. (same as earlier before)

set up show PowerPoint Mac

Then play the presentation, and take note of what is the screen where the presentation is displayed. In this example, Monitor 2 from Powerpoint is the stage monitor. This won’t work. (see next step)

3 screen setup Powerpoint Mac graphic drawing

2. Make sure that Monitor 2 in Powerpoint is routed to the display where you want to show the presentation

From step 1: If Monitor 2 is the display used to show the presentation to the audience, then you can proceed to step 3. If Monitor 2 is the stage-monitor that you want for presenter-view, then you need to  swap the routing of two hdmi-outputs from your Macbook .  If you send the hdmi-cables through a hardware switcher, then you can do this internally in the switcher. This would be my preferred way of action as it doesn’t involve any physical unplugging and patching. Also, the Macbook wouldn’t be aware of these changes, so you won’t change any internal mac-settings.

Routing the HDMI-outputs from the Macbook throug video switcher. Pictured is Roland v-1hd

3 screen setup PowerPoint Mac swap displays

After swapping HDMI cables from the MacBook, we change what is defined as Monitor 2  in Powerpoint

3. Turn on Mirrored screen

Now you can turn the mirror back on, with the stage monitor mirroring the internal display on the mac

display settings Mac OS Ventura

We have identified that DAC70 is the stage-monitor, and we set that as mirrored display.

4. Check that the Monitor in Powerpoint is set to Automatic or Monitor 2

slide show settings Mac Powerpoint assign monitors

Now you are good to go: If you play the presentation, you will get the configuration with presenter view on the stage-monitor

3 screen setup Powerpoint Mac with presenter view on stage monitor

Hurra, it finally works!

Equipment used for testing

To reach the conlusions above, I have tested with these Macs: – 15″ Macbook Pro 2015 – 14″ Macbook Pro 2021 – 15″ MacBook Pro 2018.  OS: Monterey.  Powerpoint-version: 16

Using this method with APS

Auto Presentation Switcher , gives you more ways to open, display and switch presentations. When opening presentations on Mac with APS, the monitor where the presentation is shown is taken from the Powerpoint settings. So you don’t need any additional preparation to use this method with APS.

Update 5. October 2022:

Since I wrote this text I have used the 3-screen Powerpoint Mac setup on several events. It hasn’t failed me so far. I feel more confident now than before that this article describes how you can use the 3 screen setup with Powerpoint for Mac. However, there is no guarantee that this solution will work for every Mac that has 3 screen outputs. It would be very interesting if more people could test this method, and share how it works for them.

This app ate and left like 3 crumbs😌😂

I didn’t expect to enjoy this app as much as I did. The stories are so intriguing and I was a little shocked to see K-dramas. I do wish that some of the K-dramas weren’t voiced by English actors though. I prefer just reading subtitles. It gets irritating when the mouth and words don’t match. I’m not the biggest fan of the ad situation, but I also don’t mind it either. I wish every episode was 2 minutes long and that there wasn’t a recap at the beginning. I noticed there aren’t many shows but I don’t know how long this app has been a thing so I hope more are to come. Overall I love the app. The acting is cringe at times but not as bad as some reviews make it seem. I can tell there’s a low budget so I wouldn’t expect too much anyway. Plus I feel like bad acting can make shows funnier. Still this app eats every show it puts out. I get so invested off of just a trailer. I feel like the use of adds and coins brings back what it felt like to watch shows on cable TV. Sometimes the anticipation made the show better. I also loved commercial bathroom breaks. At least I’m not waiting for a 1-2 minute clip everyday. I only have to watch an ad.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your feedback and we very appreciate that. Could you please tell us which show has the problem of discrepancy between the mouth and the words? We will convey your suggestion to relevant department and improve it. Please stay tuned for our new version. Thank you for your support.
Normally I do not leave reviews especially negative ones. These shorts are really entertaining and I ultimately enjoy watching them. However, I am very disappointed and upset that each “short” takes up a various amount of your coins. I started out watching every ad to get my coins for the day which landed me just over 230 coins. So I was a bit excited to watch more of the series I have been trying to get through. I figured that I would be able to watch at least 4 to 5 shorts (5 minutes or so of the series for the day) but I didn’t even get that. I was able to watch two which were less then a minute long. Afterwards it says I do not have enough coins. I would give this app a 5 star review if it wasn’t for the fact that somehow the price for each short adjusts based on how many coins you have. On top of that you cannot see the price of how much each episode costs until you are out of coins. Yesterday, the next episode said it was 58 coins. Today I had over 230 coins and was only able to watch two episodes? In other words one episode cost 58 coins and the next one took the rest. It seems like a major scam to get people to really fork out the money for the game without realizing what is going on. If the company fixes the issues then I will come back and update my review. If not my review will stay. Thank you for reading. Again this is not something I do in fact this is the first review I have ever done but I would hate to see people get scammed.

Money Hungry App

This app is a money grab. I downloaded it because I kept getting an ad for one show. I was like I might as well watch it. They prompt you every like 7 words to buy the app or watch more shows. It’s ridiculously expensive for corny shows. It cost more to buy this app then ANY streaming services and the shows are short and corny. I don’t think anyone besides children who aren’t spending their own money would do that. Anyway I watched one show over like a month would watch the ads whenever I was bored enough to do it then I get to the end of the show and they won’t let me watch the last few episodes without paying I can no longer use adds. As if they don’t make money from the ads already. Luckily because the show is corny and predictable I already know how it ends so it is what it is. And it’s $20 a week (which is $100-$120 a month, $1040 a year). not even for unlimited shows you get a certain about of coins that let you watch certain shows. It’s all confusing and a way to take money. The most expensive streaming service I know of hulus bundle with live tv is like $74 a month and that’s 3 services AND live tv. The ads are all over a minute long for less than an minute of content you will be wasting your time if you are using this app. I wouldn’t waste your time with this app. Just watch your corny shows on your normal streaming platform and save yourself the time, energy, and money. You’re not missing anything by skipping this app.
Dear, during the VIP period, you will gain unlimited access to all series on ReelShort without coins/bonus watching ads, and you can also earn free rewards: 1. Daily check-in; 2. Watch Ads; 3. Watch Ads to unlock episodes without paying. As we now with 2 new shows added weekly, hope you can give the subscription a try!

Apple Still Developing Bigger iMac With Over 30-Inch Display

Apple is still working on a larger iMac with over a 30-inch display, but the development stage and potential release schedule for the all-in-one computer still remains largely unknown.

iMac Pro 2022 27 and 24 iMac

Despite Apple's product reshuffle and its continued attempt to push customers to buy its 24-inch iMac or opt instead for a Mac Studio / Studio Display combo, there have been persistent rumors of a larger-screened iMac in the works that has a display that's over 30 inches in size. The machine was said to be in the early stages of development in mid-2023, but until recently the rumor mill had gone all but quiet about its progress.

Now, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has offered a ray of hope for fans of a larger model. "A larger iMac remains something Apple is exploring," he wrote in his latest weekly report . However, Gurman still says it is unclear if the device will use Apple's latest M4 processor. Apple plans to update its 24-inch iMac to an M4 processor later this year, but Gurman's comments suggest that this could be too early for the larger model, given its current development phase.

  • M4 MacBook Pro, iMac, and Redesigned Mac Mini Coming This Year

Gurman in June 2023 reported that Apple was in the early stages of developing a new iMac with over a 30-inch display, and that it was "further out," suggesting that it might be at least a year or two away from launching. Then in October 2023, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said he expected a 32-inch iMac with a mini-LED display to come out in 2025 . Kuo did not specify, but such a machine could be positioned as an "‌iMac‌ Pro" to replace the 2017 model that Apple discontinued in 2021.

iMac Pro Mock Graphic Feature

  • When to Expect New M4 MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro Models

As the rumors indicate, the actual size of the bigger iMac that Apple is working on is still unclear, but the display is surely going to be over 30 inches. At 32 inches, it would offer the same dimensions as the 6K Pro Display XDR, which Apple sells for $5,000. As for the design, we could perhaps see slimmer bezels and a machine that is ultimately modeled after the Studio Display, with Apple eliminating the chin, but rumors are not clear on this point.

M4 iMac: Everything you need to know

Roman Loyola

With the M4 chip making its debut in the iPad Pro , it’s not long before it makes its way into the Mac. The M3 iMac was released nearly a year ago in October 2023, so it’s quite possible Apple will upgrade it with an M4. The rumors will likely pick up as the fall of 2024 approaches, and whatever is reported now can change before the new iMac is released. We’ll keep track of what’s being said in this article so stay tuned.

M4 iMac: Release date

The M1 iMac–the first iMac to feature Apple’s M-series chip–made its debut in May 2021. This was followed by the M3 iMac in November 2023. The 30 months between upgrades is not typical but not unusual for Apple. In this case, Apple’s chip production process was still recovering from the effects of the Covid pandemic.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported in August that Apple is planning to release the M4 Macs in the fall of this year, including an iMac. When Apple does fall Mac releases, it usually does it in October or November, after the iPhone/Apple Watch event in September.

M4 iMac: Price

No reports on the price for the M4 iMac have been made. Here are the standard configuration prices of the current M3 iMac lineup for reference.

  • $1,299/£1,399 : M3 with an 8-core CPU/8-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine, 8GB unified memory, 256GB SSD, 2 Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, Magic Keyboard
  • $1,499/ £1,599 : M3 with an 8-core CPU/10-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine, 8GB unified memory, 256GB SSD, 2 Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, 2 USB 3 ports, gigabit ethernet port, Magic Keyboard with Touch ID
  • $1,699/ £1,799 : M3 with an 8-core CPU/10-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine, 8GB unified memory, 512GB SSD, 2 Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, 2 USB 3 ports, gigabit ethernet port, Magic Keyboard with Touch ID

The prices did not change when Apple upgraded from the M1 to the M3 chips, and prices will likely stay the same with an M4 upgrade. However, if Apple adds an M4 Pro option as rumored, there could be a new higher tier.

M4 iMac: Design

We haven’t heard anything about changes to the iMac. The current design is going on its fourth year and third revision, so Apple may introduce some new colors and other design tweaks, but it’s unlikely to see any major changes.

Orange iMac Thunderbolt USB-C ports

The higher-priced M4 iMac will likely be available with two USB 3 ports and two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports.

M4 iMac: Specs and features

The main change that will happen with the upcoming iMac is with its chip. The iMac should continue to have the base M chip–in this case, it’ll be a base M4 like the one that is in the iPad Pro. The iPad Pro’s M4 has a 9-core CPU with 3 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores; Apple could add another performance core to make it a 10-core M4.

The base M4 in the iPad Pro has 8GB of unified memory. Apple insists that 8GB is an adequate baseline amount of RAM and will likely not change this with the M4 iMac, especially since 8GB is enough to run Apple Intelligence. This also helps keep the prices down for the standard configurations. Customers have the option to upgrade to 16GB or 24GB of memory when ordering. The M3 model also gained Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and support for high-impedance headphones.

The other features of the iMac should remain basically the same. That means few if any changes to the ports, connectivity, speakers, SSD sizes, and display.

iPhone 16: What We Know About the Release Date, Leaks and More

We've rounded up the major rumors and leaks, from an action button to new cameras.

iPhone 15 Pro Max with modified camera lens and the neon number 16 on a black background

Apple has big changes in store for the next iPhone, likely to be called the iPhone 16.

Apple's rumored iPhone 16 is likely less than a month away from making its debut. The next iPhone is expected to arrive in September on the heels of the new Pixel 9 series which was announced at the  Made by Google event . Add in recent drops of the third public beta for iOS 18 and the second developer beta for iOS 18.1, complete with  Apple Intelligence , and the  iPhone 16  has a lot to live up to.

But if rumors are true, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro will each get a number of significant updates from new power-efficient displays and larger screens to better zoom lenses and the inclusion of an action button for all 2024 iPhone models.

Read more: Best iPhone of 2024

The iPhone 16 series will be as much about revamped hardware as it is a platform for Apple's suite of new  AI-powered features . All this comes at a time when rival phone makers like Samsung and Google have phones full of AI and generative AI to make everything from writing messages and removing objects and people from photos super easy. That's not to say that the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro will just be about AI and Apple Intelligence. Expect new colors, upgraded cameras and larger screens.

Here are the most credible rumors for the iPhone 16.

presentation on imac

iPhone 16 release date

Apple holds its annual iPhone event in September almost every year, so we'd expect the timeline to remain the same for the iPhone 16. The Cupertino company hasn't announced a date for this year's iPhone event. Historically depending when Labor Day falls, the event has been held on the Tuesday in the second week of September which would mean that the iPhone 16 event would be Sept. 10 this year. (The iPhone 15 event was held on Tuesday, Sept. 7.) There's only been two times where Apple held the event on a Wednesday, the most recent was the iPhone 14 event that was held on Wednesday, Sept. 7.

New iPhones typically get released shortly after the event, usually the Friday of the following week. That would mean the iPhone 16 would release on Friday Sept. 20. (For the iPhone 13, preorders began Sept. 17 and the phones went on sale Sept. 24.)

Again, all of this could change and we'll have to wait until Apple sends out the formal event invites to know for sure. Sometimes Apple will stagger release dates for specific models, especially when introducing a new design or size. So it's possible that the iPhone 16 lineup will have more than one release date.

iPhone 16 design

Apple September iPhone Event

The rumors of larger screen sizes are piling in, at least for select iPhone 16 models. The latest is from Korean publication, the Elec, which published an April report saying select iPhone 16 models are poised to adopt an innovative screen technology, resulting in thinner bezels  or the frame around the phone's screen. This development could translate to a slightly larger screen area for some iPhone 16 models, although it's not clear which models.

Apple has historically introduced display upgrades in its pro line of products, before sometimes trickling them down to lower-cost models afterwards. The report says display manufacturers have introduced a novel border reduction structure technology, enabling more compact control circuitry and ultimately leading to slimmer bezels.

The last iPhone Plus

The iPhone 16 Plus maybe be the last of Apple's larger regular iPhone. Apple is reportedly planning to cut the larger-screened flavor, Plus model, of its standard iPhone from its lineup next year and will instead introduce a new ultra-thin premium iPhone said to be called the  iPhone 17 Slim . That's according to reports from two analysts known for their Apple predictions:  TF International Securities' Ming-Chi Kuo  and Haitong International Securities' Jeff Pu (as  9to5Mac  reported).

iPhone 16 colors

All the different colors for the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus.

Noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has color predictions for the iPhone 16 lineup. In a  post on X  in May, he said that the blue color option of the iPhone 15 Pro would be discontinued and replaced with a new rose model, which would be available for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. He also predicted that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will be available in white, replacing the yellow model.

iPhone 16 Pro screen size

iPhone 14 family

Since 2022, the iPhone lineup has had a regular and Pro 6.1-inch models and Plus and Pro Max 6.7-inch versions

Speaking of screen sizes, Apple has maintained the two screen sizes for iPhone Pro models since 2020 when it launched the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro and the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max . However, that's rumored to change with the iPhone 16 Pro models, which might get bigger screens.

Display analyst Ross Young suggested earlier this year that the iPhone 16 Pro models will have larger screens, putting the sizes at 6.3 inches for the iPhone 16 Pro and 6.9 inches for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. That rumor was later corroborated by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who said the iPhone 16 Pro models could grow by "a couple tenths of an inch diagonally."

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models are believed to be sticking with the current 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch sizes . If the size increase is accurate, it would be yet another move from Apple to distinguish its Pro iPhone models from its regular ones.

iPhone 15 screen sizes

  • iPhone 15: 6.1 inches
  • iPhone 15 Plus: 6.7 inches
  • iPhone 15 Pro: 6.1 inches
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max: 6.7 inches

Rumored iPhone 16 screen sizes

  • iPhone 16: 6.1 inches
  • iPhone 16 Plus: 6.7 inches
  • iPhone 16 Pro: 6.3 inches
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max: 6.9 inches

Another change that could make its way to iPhone 16 displays is greater power efficiency. Samsung Display is apparently developing a new material set, dubbed M14, specifically for Apple, according to a  TheElec  report, which says the new technology should arrive on iPhones launching next year. M14 will replace the blue fluorescent technology that's used now with blue phosphorescence technology, creating an even more power-efficient screen than the current LTPO ones used on Pro models, the report says.

iPhone 16 will have more AI tricks

A man in front of a screen that reads Apple Intelligence

Apple's senior vice president of Software Engineering Craig Federighi introduced Apple's AI push as "Apple Intelligence" during WWDC 2024.

AI is perhaps the biggest tech buzzword this year, and Apple followed in the footsteps of rivals, Samsung and Google, which each trumpeted the new AI tips and tricks on their flagship phones. Apple Intelligence made its debut during the company's  Worldwide Developers Conference  in June.

It brings ChatGPT integration, tools for proofreading and rewriting text in a different tone,  new Siri features  for getting tech support and answering more personalized requests, and the ability to generate images and emojis, among other features. These new AI features are expected to ship on all the models of the upcoming iPhone 16 lineup with iOS 18 right out of the box.

iPhone 16 and 16 Plus get an action button

Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro Max

The action button on iPhone 15 Pro models can do more than just mute and unmute your phone.

In March, AppleInsider published a collection of photographs purportedly displaying 3D-printed dummy models of the rumored iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro. The images revealed that the iPhone 16 may have a vertical camera stack as opposed to a diagonal one and an action button, similar the one on last year's iPhone 15 Pro.

iPhone 16 camera features

iphone-15-prores-log-video-tutorial

Both the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max could have 5x telephoto lenses next year. According to Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo , a tetraprism lens will make its way to both Pro models next year, as opposed to just the Pro Max model. Apple equipped the iPhone 15 Pro with a 12-megapixel 3x optical zoom, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 12-megapixel 5x optical zoom camera, which is the equivalent of 120mm lens on a full-frame camera. If this rumor is true, it could mark a breakthrough in design. When Apple launched the 15 Pro Max with its 5x telephoto lens, it cited the phone's bigger body as to why the Pro Max had it, but the Pro didn't.

According to a recent leak discovered by MacRumors , Apple might be exploring a novel approach to enhance photo quality. The rumor suggests that the company could add an anti-reflective technology to its camera manufacturing process. If successful, this could potentially eliminate unwanted artifacts like lens flare, resulting in more realistic photos.

iPhone 16 processors: A18 chip for all

In a break with the past two years, all four iPhone 16 models will apparently get a next-generation Apple chipset, which will all receive A18 branding. According to a MacRumors report citing Jeff Pu, an executive analyst for Haitong International Securities, all four models will have an A18 series chip with Pro iPhone models getting an A18 Bionic Pro and base models getting a regular A18.

The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus currently have an A16 Bionic, which debuted on the 2022 iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, while the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max run on the A17 Pro processor . Pu says the A18 chip will be manufactured with TSMC's cutting-edge 3-nanometer process.

Apple Event new iPhone 13

Tim Cook unveiling the iPhone 13 in 2021.

Will the iPhone 16 be foldable?

Probably not. Virtually every major phone-maker -- from  Google  to  Oppo  to  OnePlus  and  Samsung  -- has launched several generations of bendable handsets, but Apple has been characteristically quiet about whether there will ever be a foldable iPhone. The latest rumors suggest Apple is working on a "clamshell" design iPhone, which could be ready as early as 2026 according to a  report  last Tuesday from The Information.

The new design will coincide with Apple's plans to also release newly improved camera technologies, including a variable aperture, the report added. It isn't clear what's kept Apple from releasing a folding iPhone in the past few years. The company has reportedly been working on folding iPhone designs since at least 2019
