How to present Google Slides in Google Meet

Your email has been sent

Image of Andy Wolber

In October 2022, Google added the ability for a presenter to display and control a Google Slides presentation directly within the Google Meet interface. This ensures that the slides, presentation controls, participant video images and all other Google Meet tools display and are readily available to the presenter. There’s no need to switch back and forth to a separate window or tab while presenting. This all-in-one display of slides alongside participant video may make it possible to gauge people’s reactions as you present, which can lead to more meaningful conversations.

Additionally, the ability to present Slides in Meet also may be useful when you want to record a presentation to be used later, such as for training purposes. Set your browser full-screen, share your Slides in Meet and record the session. The resulting recorded file shows both your slides and video, side-by-side. For this to work, you’ll need access to an account that supports Meet recording.

SEE: Feature comparison: Time tracking software and systems (TechRepublic Premium)

The steps below assume that you use Google Chrome on a computer, and that you have already confirmed that audio, video and standard screen presenting are all working as expected. Presenting Slides in Meet as described below is available to people with Google Workspace Business Standard or Plus; Enterprise Essentials, Standard or Plus; Education Standard or Plus; the Teaching and Learning Upgrade; and Nonprofit edition accounts.

How to present to a tab to share Google Slides in Google Meet

Before you present in Google Meet, review your Google Slides for content size. When you present Slides within Google Meet, each slide displays on only a portion of the screen. This is because the browser interface, Meet controls and participant video frames all occupy space. Adjust the text and images on each slide to be as large as feasible to ensure readability when you present Slides in Google Meet.

Start your Google Meet session in Chrome, then follow these steps to present Slides in your session.

1. In a separate Chrome tab, go to Google Drive (or Google Slides), navigate to your presentation and then open it in Google Slides. You should then have at least two tabs open: One for Google Meet and one for Google Slides ( Figure A ).

Open the "Activities" options on the Google Meet tab and the Slides presentation opened on another tab.

2. Select the present icon, then choose A Tab ( Figure B ).

Select "A Tab" in the Google Meet Present settings.

3. From the displayed list of open tabs, select the tab with your Slides presentation ( Figure C ). If you have any embedded audio or video in your presentation, make sure to check the box by the Share Tab Audio option. Select Share to continue.

Select the Google Slides presentation tab.

4. At this point, Slides displays within Meet for you, but is not yet displayed to meeting participants. Select the Start Slideshow button ( Figure D ) to begin your presentation.

Select the Start Slideshow button to begin the presentation.

5. Select from one of the following presentation controls ( Figure E ) as desired.

Use the arrow key controls to navigate slides, or click in the slide number box to pick and display any slide.

  • Right or left arrow keys display next or previous slides, respectively.
  • Click on the slide number to either select a slide directly or type in a number to jump to a slide.
  • Select the exit slideshow, which displays on the left of the slideshow controls as an arrow pointing to the right in a box, to pause the slideshow.

To end the presentation, select the Present now icon, then choose the Stop Presenting menu option.

Be sure you sound and look professional during your next Google Meet call by downloading TechRepublic Premium’s guide to a great home video setup .

What’s your experience presenting Slides in Google Meet?

Do you find the ability to present slides within the same Google Meet browser tab helpful? Do the expressions of meeting participants help provide useful feedback as you present? Does the ability to access other Meet tools, such as chat or hand-raising, while you present enhance your meetings? Mention or message me on Twitter ( @awolber ) to let me know how you use Google Meet to present Google Slides.

How to Present PPT on Google Meet?

Mar 27, 2024• Proven solutions

A meeting is never complete without an explanatory PowerPoint presentation! Running a session online can be a daunting task - with the right tools, information, and resources it can be smooth sailing. There are three main video conferencing apps available, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and an app that trumps them all - Google Meet.

Google Meet is a video calling app that comes fully equipped with numerous features, such as screen presenting. If you are looking to perfect your hand on Google Meet, then read through this comprehensive guide on how to present ppt in Google Meet !

  • Part 1: Present PowerPoint Presentations in Google Meet on Laptop
  • Part 2: Present Google Slides in Google Meet on Laptop
  • Part 3: Present PowerPoint or Slides in Google Meet On iPhone and iPad
  • Part 4: Present PowerPoint or Slides in Google Meet on Android
  • Part 5: Stop Presenting PPT on Google Meet

Part 1: How to Present PowerPoint Presentations in Google Meet on Laptop

With remote working on the rise, Google Meet enables users to showcase and share PowerPoint slides during online meetings and sessions. Whether it is a meeting, online class, or brainstorming session, it becomes a whole lot easier with a PowerPoint slideshow - bringing everyone on the same page!

You must be wondering how to share ppt in Google Meet , well the process is fairly simple and extremely functional. You will only need two tools to execute this screen-sharing process, a web browser, and Microsoft PowerPoint. We would advise that you use Google Chrome as your web browser as it works best with Google Meet.

Just a heads up, when you are presenting your screen on Google Meet, everyone can see what you display, so it’s best to open up your PowerPoint slides before joining the meeting so there are no surprises!

  • Open the Microsoft PowerPoint Slides on your laptop, the model or brand of the laptop does not matter, as long as you have Microsoft PowerPoint on it
  • Convert your slides from the default mode to browsed by an individual mode. If you have used Microsoft PowerPoint before, then you must know that in slideshow mode the slides appear in fullscreen making it difficult to switch between applications, therefore by converting the PowerPoint it will be windowed fullscreen, allowing the presenter to switch between applications. The process is simple, just click the “Slide Show” tab, then “Set Up Slide Show”, and from the drop-down menu press “Browsed by an Individual”.

set PowerPoint to individual browse

  • After setting up the PowerPoint slides, move over to Google Meet and join the meeting through the meeting link provided or schedule in a new meeting. You have two options: either you can join the meeting and then share your slides, or share the PowerPoint while joining the session. If you decide to go with the second option, you must click “Present now” and continue with the steps below.
  • To share your Google Meet PPT presentation just click the “Present Now” button on the bottom right-hand side of the screen.

Google Meet Present Now

There you will see two options and must click one of the following options,

  • Your entire screen - if you would like to share your entire screen, this means any application which you see, other participants in the meeting will see as well
  • A window - this allows the presenter to share only one selected window in the meeting (this option is advised)
  • A tab - this is best for presenting a video or animations, not a PowerPoint

Google Meet Present Now Options

  • If the presenter decides to go with the “A Window” option then click the window that shows your PowerPoint slides then select share.

Share PPT on Google Meet

The slideshow will automatically start to broadcast to viewers. We are sure you are not wondering how to present a ppt in Google Meet anymore!

Part 2: Presenting Google Slides in Google Meet on Laptop

In some cases, individuals opt to use Google Slides instead of PowerPoint presentations, but have no fear because Google Meet is equipped to share Google Slides as well. The process is quite similar to that of sharing a PowerPoint, but there are a few changes.

So to answer your question on how to present slide in Google Meet ,

  • Open up your Google Slides, go over to the Google Slides webpage and browse to find the slides you have prepared.

Share slides on Google Meet

  • Open Google Meet on your browser and go on to the meeting link page. Here you have two options, one - you can join the session directly and then start presenting the screen, or two - share the screen and then join the session.

If you decide to go with the latter option, then click the “Present” option. Since I’m using the Chrome browser, I will choose the slides tab to share. If you would like to share any audio, make sure to tick the share tab audio button as well!

Share slides on Google Meet

  • Once you have gone through these steps your Google Slides will automatically be visible to anyone and everyone in the Google Meet session.

Part 3: How to Present PowerPoint or Slides in Google Meet On iPhone and iPad?

Wondering how to present ppt in Google Meet in iPhone ? Well, don’t worry because even with a mobile or tablet you can access all the Google Meet features, even screen share!

Step 1) Open your PowerPoint or Slides on your iPhone or iPad, and then join the Google Meet meeting.

Step 2) To start sharing your screen, press the three-button icon which appears in the bottom right corner of your screen, and then tap the Share Screen option.

Share slides on Google Meet on iPhone

Step 3) After doing so, the presenter will see a notification on their screen allowing them to broadcast their entire screen. Upon clicking “Start Broadcast” the screen will start to share in three seconds. Switch from Google Meet to PowerPoint or Google Slides and the screen will automatically share slides.

To be sure if the screen is being shared check the top of the iPhone or iPad and if there is a red stripe, it means the screen is being broadcasted to participants. Moreover, do not worry while switching apps, you will still be in the Google Meet session even if you go onto PowerPoint or Google Slides while sharing your screen on a mobile or tablet device.

Share slides on Google Meet on iPhone

Part 4: Presenting PowerPoint or Slides in Google Meet on Android

The process of presenting a PowerPoint or Google Slides during a Google Meet session on an android is very similar to that of an Apple device.

Step 1) You must open up your PowerPoint or Slides beforehand, while this is not necessary, it always makes the process more simple.

Step 2) Join into the Google Meet session, if you have been invited into the session then join using the joining link, if not then create a new meeting. If you would rather directly screen share instead of joining into the session first, then click the “Share Screen” option directly.

Step 3) Upon joining the meeting, click the “More” option and tap the “Present Screen” menu.

Share slides on Google Meet on Android

Step 4) After that, allow presenting and go to your PowerPoint / Google Slides to share them with participants, easy right?! Remember, participants can pause your screen presentation and start presenting their screen in between, as well.

Part 5: How to Stop Presenting PPT on Google Meet?

All good things must come to an end, just like wrapping up a productive PowerPoint work session on Google Meet. When a presenter is done sharing their PowerPoint slides they must stop sharing their screen as well. One easy way to do that is to leave the Google Meet session, however, that might not be so polite.

Instead, there is another way, upon finishing the discussion on the PowerPoint slides, click the stop presenting button which automatically appears on the bottom of the screen you are sharing.

stop PPT sharing on Google Meet

If that option is not visible to the presenter, they can return to their Google Meet session, and click the stop sharing button as shown in the image below.

Moreover, if you are on an iPhone or iPad, you can simply click the red stripe on the top of your screen and a notification popup will appear indicating that you can stop presenting.

FAQ about Presenting PowerPoint on Google Meet

  • Can others see you while you are presenting a PPT?

Yes, if you have enabled the video option during the Google Meet session, then participants will be able to see you. Just because an individual starts presenting, their camera will not turn off automatically, unless it is turned off by them.

  • Can participants interact with your device while sharing a presentation?

No, participants cannot interact with your device while sharing a presentation. The screen is only being mirrored, therefore only the presenter has control over the device. Participants can only view it, not control the device.

  • Can you present when someone else is presenting?

Yes, an individual can present when someone else is presenting. If you start presenting while someone else is already presenting, their screen presenting will pause and yours will start.

Are You Ready to Present PPT on Google Meet?

Presenting a ppt on Google Meet is not all that difficult, if you know what to do, how to do it, and when to do it, then you are good to go. Google Meet is a video conferencing tool created to ease virtual communication and make it more functional. So, if you were wondering how to share slides in Google Meet , well we hope you got the answer!

4 Ways to See Your Google Meet Audience While Presenting

Want to see your audience on Google Meet when presenting from Google Slides or PowerPoint? Here's how to do it.

You’ll no longer see your audience when presenting your Google Slides or Microsoft PowerPoint presentation via Google Meet. That’s because your presentation will take up your monitor’s space.

While slideshows are great at sharing knowledge visually, it’s still crucial to see your audience and how they see you to present effectively. So, here are three ways you can present a slideshow without losing view of your Google Meet room.

1. Open Your Google Slides Presentation in Presenter View

If you’re presenting using Google Slides, you can use Presenter View to launch a separate presenter window . You can then dock this view to the left or right side of your screen and switch to your Google Meet tab. Here’s how you can do so:

In the Google Slides Window, click on the down arrow beside the Slideshow button to see the dropdown menu.

Choose Presenter view . Once you click on Presenter view, your Google Slides presentation will begin in the Google Slides tab. A presenter window will appear, showing the preview of your slides, among other information. Dock the presenter window to your screen’s left or right side for a more organized view.

Open and log in to your Google Meet meeting if you haven’t done so yet. You can dock the window for Google Meet on the opposite side of your presenter window for better organization.

Once you’re ready to present, click on the Present now button at the bottom of the Google Meet window, then choose the A tab . In the Share a tab window, choose the tab where your Google Slides presentation is open , then click on Share .

This action will share your presentation at your Google Meet meeting. Click on the View tab: meet.google.com button at the top of your presentation window to return to Google Meet. You will see your presentation at the center stage of the screen and the participants at the bottom.

You simply need to click on the Previous and Next slide icons in the Presenter view to control your presentation.

Once you’re done presenting, click on the You are presenting button at the bottom of the Google Meet window and click Stop presenting.

2. Set Up Your PowerPoint Slide Show to Window View

While Google Slides is a popular choice for creating presentations, another ubiquitous slide show app is PowerPoint. If you used this to create your presentation, you don’t need to open it on Google Slides. Instead, you can just set it to window view when presenting.

When you open your PowerPoint file, click on the Slide Show ribbon.

In the Slide Show ribbon, select Set Up Slide Show . A Set Up Show window will appear.

Under Show type , click on the Browsed by an individual (window) radio button, then press OK .

Once you’re back in the main PowerPoint window, click on From Beginning to start your slide show. Your slide show will then appear in a PowerPoint Slide Show window. Dock this window to the left or right side of your monitor.

Open and log in to your Google Meet meeting if you haven’t done so yet. You can dock the window for Google Meet on the opposite side of your presenter window for better organization. Once you’re ready to present, click on the Present now button at the bottom of the Google Meet window, then choose A window .

In the Share an application window, choose your open PowerPoint Slide Show window , then click on Share.

Resize your PowerPoint Slide Show presentation window, so it fits perfectly across your Google Meet view.

3. Use a Second Device to See Your Audience

If you prefer seeing your presentation on your entire screen and only want to view your audience on a secondary screen, you can use another device like a tablet or your smartphone. Here’s how to set it up:

Open and join your Google Meet meeting, then launch your Google Slides or Microsoft PowerPoint presentation. Once your presentation is open, start the slide show. This will cover your entire screen.

Once the slide has opened, return to Google Meet by pressing ALT + tab on Windows or CMD + tab on macOS. This will return you to the Google Meet window.

Once you’re in the Google Meet window, copy the meeting code by clicking on the information icon at the lower-right corner of the screen. In the Meeting details pane, copy the Joining info to your secondary device.

Pull out your secondary device—this can be a smartphone, a tablet, or any other device where you can download and install the Google Meet app—and open Google Meet. In the main Google Meet window, tap on Join with a code , and paste the link you copied from your computer. Once done, tap on Join in the upper-right corner of the screen.

Once you’re in the meeting room lobby, you can turn off your secondary device’s camera and microphone to avoid echoes and multiple camera views. If you’re the meeting organizer, tap on Join beside the microphone mute button. But if you’re joining as a guest, you should ask the host to approve your secondary device.

Once you’re in the meeting, you’ll see your secondary device appear in Google Meet on your computer.

When you’re ready to present, go to your computer where your presentation is, click on the Present now button at the bottom of the Google Meet window, and choose A window .

In the Share an application window, choose the window where your presentation is open, then click on Share . Your computer will then bring your presentation to the front of your screen.

You can then control your presentation on your computer while looking at your audience on your secondary device. Once you’re done presenting, simply end the presentation and open the Google Meet window on your computer.

4. Add Another Monitor

Consider getting a secondary monitor if you’re a heavy multitasker, frequently present to multiple people, or both. This setup allows you to work with multiple full-screen windows simultaneously, including Google Meet and your presentation.

If you already have a secondary monitor, these are the steps you need to take to present on Google Meet:

  • Launch your presentation on your secondary monitor.
  • Open and connect to your Google Meet meeting on your primary monitor.
  • Click on the Present now button at the bottom of the Google Meet window, then choose your entire screen .
  • In the Share your entire screen window, choose the screen where your presentation is showing, and press Share .
  • Once you’re done presenting, click on the You are presenting button at the bottom of the Google Meet window and click Stop presenting .

See Your Audience and Your Presentation Simultaneously

One of the key ways you can be an effective presenter is to gauge your audience’s reaction and adjust your presentation accordingly. With these techniques, you can keep track of your audience even if they’re miles away from you.

If you think a secondary monitor is an effective tool for presenting online and increasing your productivity, here’s how you can set one up for yourself.

We’re also announcing two commercial offers that allow you to bring AI-powered meetings and messaging, as well as AI-powered security, to everyone in your organization , each for only $10 per user, per month. In addition, Gemini is coming to Google Chat in preview , giving you an AI-powered teammate to summarize conversations, answer questions, and more. And finally, we’re making it easy for organizations to extend the power of their data and custom AI models by using Vertex AI with Workspace as a platform , enabling next-generation workflows that are built right into Docs, Gmail, and other Workspace apps.

Over the last year, we’ve released hundreds of features and enhancements to Google Workspace and Gemini for Workspace . And we’re seeing them have a real impact with our customers. In fact, 70% of enterprise users who use Help me write in Docs or Gmail end up taking Gemini's suggestions, and more than 75% of users who create images in Slides are inserting them into their presentations.

Gemini is helping people take back time for higher value work, like employees at Onix , a global cloud consulting company, who are saving the equivalent of an entire day of work every month using Gemini, or the team at Sports Basement , a sporting goods retailer, who’ve reduced the time it takes to craft responses to customer support requests by 30-35%. Across our business, education, and government customers, Gemini is helping people of all backgrounds and skill levels outdo themselves.

How businesses are using Gemini for Google Workspace

Fueling storytelling at work with AI-powered video

People tell stories at work every day, whether it’s HR onboarding new employees to the organization’s mission, the training team creating digital learning experiences, or a salesperson pitching a new client on the benefits of their offering. As a storytelling medium, video has become ubiquitous for its immediacy and ability to “cut through the noise,” but it can be daunting to know where to start.

Now, everyone can be a great storyteller through video with Google Vids , a new AI-powered video creation app for work. Vids is your video, writing, production, and editing assistant, all in one. It can generate a storyboard that you can easily edit, and after choosing a style, it pieces together your first draft with suggested scenes from stock videos, images, and background music. It can also help you land your message with the right voiceover — either choosing from one of our preset voiceovers, or using your own. Vids will sit alongside our other productivity tools like Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Like them, it includes a simple, easy-to-use interface and the ability to collaborate and share projects securely from your browser. It's an entirely new app that can help anyone become a great storyteller at work.

A new AI Meetings and Messaging add-on

AI features like Take notes for me (now in preview) let you drop the pen and lean into the conversation instead of taking notes. Translate for me (coming in June) will automatically detect and translate captions in Meet with support for 69 languages (equal to 4,600 language pairs), helping people feel more confident and connected to their colleagues, regardless of language. And later this year we’ll launch automatic translation of messages and on-demand conversation summaries in Google Chat.

At Pepperdine University , these features are enabling meetings and learning in multiple languages: “The captioning within Google Meet is going to be a huge game changer in extending equity and accessibility, especially for those with language barriers...With Gemini for Google Workspace, we can now quickly transcribe meeting minutes within Google Docs and summarize them in a succinct way to share with our users.” — Jonathan See, CIO, Pepperdine University

We're making all of this available today in a new AI Meetings and Messaging add-on for just $10 per user, per month , and it can be added to most Workspace plans.

A new AI Security add-on

Data privacy and security continues to be top of mind in the era of generative AI, with data breaches increasing 20% last year. Unlike traditional email and productivity solutions, Gmail and Workspace were built from the very beginning on a cloud-native architecture, rooted in zero-trust principles, and augmented with AI-powered threat defenses. That’s why Gmail blocks more than 99.9% of spam, phishing attempts, and malware from reaching your inbox. And now, using large language models, we’re blocking an additional 20% more spam in Gmail and can evaluate 1,000 times more user-reported spam in Gmail every day.

To help businesses of all sizes keep up with the evolving security landscape, today we’re making available a new AI Security add-on for $10 per user, per month that allows IT teams to automatically classify and protect sensitive files company-wide in Google Drive. This capability uses privacy-preserving AI models trained using data unique to your organization, enabling continuous evaluation, classification, and protection of existing and new files in Drive, for all of your employees, including frontline workers.

Because the job of security is never done, we’re also continuing to innovate to help you keep your data safe and make Gmail the most secure email for business. To that end, we’re extending DLP controls and classification labels to Gmail in beta . And to help protect your most sensitive data against quantum computer attacks, we’re adding experimental support for post-quantum cryptography (PQC) in client-side encryption together with our partners, including Thales and Fortanix.

Transforming workflows with Workspace and Vertex AI

We’re making it easy to build custom AI agents with Google Cloud’s Vertex AI and Google Workspace. By using Model Garden on Vertex AI, you can choose the right model for your needs from more than 130 options, and the Workspace add-on framework can allow you to bring that custom agent into the productivity apps you use everyday in Workspace, streamlining workflows, enhancing collaboration, and freeing up valuable time across your team.

Bristol Myers Squibb , a global biopharmaceutical company, has used Vertex AI and Workspace to transform the documentation process at the heart of clinical trials. Historically, the creation of Informed Consent Forms (ICFs), which summarize the purpose of a clinical trial, outline the details of the medicine, and its potential risks and interactions, has involved weeks of manual effort from scientists and clinicians. Now, with Vertex AI and Google Workspace, a draft ICF can happen in minutes.

“We can now assemble data in the background so that our clinical scientists spend less time searching and building documents from various data sources. This has taken much of the documentation burden away from the clinical scientists all while maintaining our privacy and data security. These documents previously took us weeks to assemble. Now, we can create our first draft for human review in mere minutes.” — Matteo di Tomasso, Senior Vice President of Global Drug Discovery IT, Bristol Myers Squibb

More improvements coming to Workspace

We’re also continuing to improve and add capabilities to existing Workspace and Gemini features, including:

Voice prompting and instant polish in Gmail: Send emails easily when you’re on the go with voice input in Help me write , and convert rough notes to a complete email with one-click.

New building blocks and notifications in Sheets: Our new tables feature (generally available in the coming weeks) does the heavy lifting to format and organize data with a sleek design. Select a template from our new set of building blocks — from project management to event planning — so you never have to build a spreadsheet from scratch again. We’re also introducing conditional notifications, which are automatic alerts based on custom triggers like a change in a status field.

Tabs and personalization in Docs: Now with tabs you can organize information in a single document instead of linking to multiple documents or searching through Drive to find what you’re looking for. We’re also making it easy for you to personalize documents with full-bleed cover images that extend from one edge of your browser to the other. Both features will be generally available in the coming weeks.

  • Increased member capacity and interoperability in Chat: Increased member capacity of up to 500,000 in spaces will be generally available in the coming weeks. We’re also streamlining everyday communication with the general availability of messaging interoperability for Slack and Teams through our partner Mio .

Champions League semi-finals: Meet the teams

Friday, April 19, 2024

Article summary

Analysis, key players, facts and stats: all you need to know about the teams who have reached the last four of the UEFA Champions League.

Article top media content

powerpoint presentation on google meet

Coach: Thomas Tuchel Tuchel impressed with Mainz and Dortmund before guiding Paris to a domestic treble and the Champions League final in 2019/20. He took over at Chelsea in January 2021 and led them to Champions League glory in a matter of months, before returning to Germany with Bayern in March 2023 and steering them home in the title race. He will leave the club at the end of the season.

Key player: Harry Kane The England captain and the German giants have proved a match made in heaven. Kane's record-breaking scoring rate has made Bayern's acquisition of the former Tottenham striker look like one of the bargains of the summer. Beyond his insatiable appetite up front, Kane has underlined his ability to link play with an incredible range of passing, while helping to raise the game of every player around him and leading by example in all areas of the pitch.

Did you know? On Matchday 1, Thomas Müller became just the third player in history to record 100 Champions League wins (in 143 games), after Cristiano Ronaldo (115 wins in 183 games) and Iker Casillas (101 wins in 177 games). He has since moved to within one appearance of becoming only the sixth man to reach 150.

UEFA coefficient ranking : 10 Group F :   W3 D2 L1 F7 A4 (winners) Round of 16 : 3-1agg vs PSV Quarter-finals : 5-4agg vs Atlético de Madrid Semi-finals : vs Paris, 01/05(h) , 07/05(a) Last season : Round of 16 (L1-2agg vs Chelsea) Best European Cup performance : Winners (1996/1997) Top Fantasy Football points scorer : Mats Hummels (63)

UEFA.com Dortmund reporter : Not many expected Dortmund to be the first team to qualify from an extremely tough Group F. Having lost 2-0 at Paris in the first match and drawn another blank at home to Milan (0-0), back-to-back wins without conceding against Newcastle changed their fortunes. Another mature performance at Milan ensured qualification with one game to spare. BVB held their nerve under intense pressure from PSV in the last-16 return to reach the quarter-finals, where they edged a classic against Atlético de Madrid.

Why Dortmund can win the competition When Dortmund get on a roll they take some stopping. BVB stumbled in the first leg in Eindhoven and again in Madrid but, stirred by a boisterous crowd, the Black and Yellows prevailed each time. Home advantage is a major factor. Dortmund have shown this term that they can beat any team, so their journey in this season's competition is far from over.

How Dortmund play Wary of a difficult task ahead, BVB set out with a counterattacking mindset and a back three for the first group match at Paris. They changed their set-up during that match, brought on a natural No9 instead of two counterattacking forwards and their game improved right away. Since then, they have always opted for a system with a back four and three central midfielders, with pacy wingers such as Donyell Malen, Karim Adeyemi and Jadon Sancho playing a decisive role. From that basic formation, Dortmund are capable of progressing the ball or pressing in different ways.

Coach: Edin Terzić Terzić began his coaching career in Dortmund's academy in 2010. He had a spell as interim first-team boss during the 2020/21 campaign, when he lead BVB to victory over Leipzig in the German Cup final before taking them within minutes of dethroning champions Bayern last season.

Key player: Julian Brandt One of the Bundesliga's most consistent and impressive performers for several years, German international Brandt joined Dortmund after five and a half seasons at Leverkusen. Now 27, the creative midfielder has completed four years at BVB, making at least 40 appearances every season and hitting double figures for goals last term. He wasn't fully fit in the last game against PSV but played a decisive role again in the quarter-finals.

Did you know? Dortmund are in the semi-finals for the first time since 2012/13, when Jürgen Klopp's men overcame a team they had met in the group stage (Real Madrid) to reach the final at Wembley.

Paris Saint-Germain (FRA)

UEFA coefficient ranking : 4 Group F : W2 D2 L2 F9 A8 (runners-up) Round of 16 : 4-1agg vs Real Sociedad Quarter-finals : 6-4agg vs Barcelona Semi-finals : vs Dortmund, 01/05(a) , 07/05(h) Last season : Round of 16 (L0-3agg vs Bayern) Best European Cup performance : Runners-up (2019/20) Top Fantasy Football points-scorer : Kylian Mbappé (57)

UEFA.com Paris reporter : Paris are through to the Champions League semi-finals for the third time in five seasons. After a group campaign which included a chastening 4-1 defeat at Newcastle, hopes of a deep run in this year's competition were tempered. Fast forward a few months, though, and following an expertly navigated round of 16 second leg against Real Sociedad and comeback triumph over Barcelona, Parisian optimism is rising. This outfit is tactically astute and growing in stature with each passing game.

Why Paris can win the competition It would be reductive to pin all hopes of a Paris win on Mbappé, but the side from the French capital possess arguably the best player in the world right now. Since arriving at the helm last summer, Luis Enrique has injected energy and youthful exuberance into the side. In Warren Zaïre-Emery, they boast one of the brightest midfield talents in the game, and collectively they're growing in maturity.

How Paris play   Luis Enrique has implemented a system predicated on tactical flexibility. Nominally a 4-3-3, their approach soon moulds into a 3-4-3 when in possession. Lucas Hernández's positional nous on the left of their back four allows Achraf Hakimi the freedom to operate as an auxiliary midfielder. Another common switch involves Vitinha, who often occupies the berth on the left of the midfield three, moving wide to allow danger man Mbappé to roam into the central spaces.

Coach: Luis Enrique The former Barcelona and Real Madrid player won nine trophies during a hugely successful three-year spell in charge of the Blaugrana, including two La Liga crowns and the 2014/15 Champions League. He led Spain to the UEFA EURO 2020 semi-finals and the 2021 Nations League final before succeeding Christophe Galtier at Paris last July.

Key player: Kylian Mbappé Mbappé burst onto the European stage with Monaco in 2016/17 and has never looked back. A FIFA World Cup winner with France in 2018, he became the youngest player to reach 30 Champions League goals in 2021/22 at the age of 22 years and 352 days, taking the record from then team-mate Lionel Messi.

Did you know? Mbappé has this season taken his tally to 48 Champions League goals and is well on course to become the second youngest to reach 50 after Messi. He has just under three years to score twice more and push Cristiano Ronaldo down to third.

Real Madrid (ESP)

UEFA coefficient ranking : 3 Group C : W6 D0 L0 F16 A7 (winners) Round of 16 : 2-1agg vs Leipzig Quarter-finals : 4-4agg (4-3pens) vs Man City Semi-finals : vs Bayern, 30/04(a) , 08/05(h) Last season : Semi-finals (L1-5agg vs Man City) Best European Cup performance : Winners (1955/56, 1956/57, 1957/58, 1958/59, 1959/60, 1965/66, 1997/98, 1999/2000, 2001/02, 2013/14, 2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/18, 2021/22) Top Fantasy Football points-scorer : Jude Bellingham (60)

UEFA.com Real Madrid reporter : Madrid remain fun to watch, and report on. But the nerve-shredding and sensory overload moments which were unheralded themes of their otherwise perfect group qualification became more notable in the round of 16 and quarter-finals. How much Madrid owed to their goalkeeper, Andriy Lunin for the elimination of Leipzig was increased hugely against City. The Ukrainian was stellar in most of both knockouts, especially his 24-karat display throughout the penalty shoot-out win in Manchester. Frankly, Madrid will be keen to re-impose their goal threat in the semi-finals.

Why Madrid can win the competition Because they're Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti's side live and breathe the stress, the pride, the ambition, the Houdini acts and the majesty any club needs in order to win this trophy. Surely few share the same all-consuming desire to win this trophy. And if there are some candidates across Europe in better form right now, don't discard the big guns in this squad – Vinícius Júnior, Bellingham, Toni Kroos (plus perhaps the returning Thibaut Courtois and Éder Militão, according to the Italian coach) – hitting their stride at just the right time.

How Real Madrid play Vivaciously. And, latterly, pugnaciously. If you had to state Los Blancos' current predominant formation, it would be 4-4-2. Ancelotti has a treasury of midfield talent and, until injuries intervened, he wanted to field as much of it as feasible. But rather than viewing four in midfield as a defensive measure (Madrid had largely used 4-3-3 since Ancelotti returned), the key is that Bellingham, alternating between the left side without the ball and the tip of the midfield diamond when Madrid are in possession, can attack the box and score. They are arguably the best counter/transition team in Europe.

Coach: Carlo Ancelotti The man who led Madrid to La Décima in 2014 came back for a second spell in charge in summer 2021 and rewrote the history books by becoming the first coach to win the European Cup/Champions League four times. He also guided Madrid to the Liga title in 2021/22, making him the first coach to win championships in Italy, England, France, Germany and Spain.

Key player: Jude Bellingham The England international's move to Madrid was one of the most eye-catching of the summer, and after inheriting Zinédine Zidane's iconic No5 shirt, big things were expected of one of European football's most talented midfielders at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. Even while, by his own admission, coping with difficult shoulder and ankle problems, the young Englishman has continued to astonish with his goals, assists, will to win and thunderous live-affair with the Madrid supporters.

Did you know? Madrid have won 37 of the 39 ties in which they have recorded an away first-leg win in UEFA competition.

Google meet’s answer to facetime handoff is starting to take shape.

Call casting could be on its way to Android devices

  • Google is developing a cross-device casting feature for Meet, allowing seamless call transfers between devices for Android users.
  • An early look at the UI for call casting in Google Meet and includes caller names, an end call button, and a timer for the conversation.
  • Google's Telecom Jetpack library from 2023 laid the groundwork for this feature, providing APIs for voice call transfers between phones and tablets.

Handoff is a feature exclusive to Apple products that allows users to seamlessly move FaceTime conversations between devices. Even in the middle of a call, you can leverage Handoff to ensure that the chat keeps going without the need to disconnect. To the dismay of Android device users, a similar feature has yet to be launched — but Google may be closer to finally making one a reality.

How to join a FaceTime call on your Pixel phone or tablet

According to an update shared by tech tipster AssembleDebug on PiunikaWeb , the UI for Google’s cross-device casting feature in Meet has been developed. Screenshots taken by the source show the new feature within the Devices & Sharing settings. There is now a “Cross-device services” option, per the source, and subtext specifies call casting.

When will call casting debut on Android?

Once the new feature is enabled, it seems that the call is seamlessly transferred to the allotted device. The Google Meet UI includes the name of the caller, the “End Call” button, and the option to switch back to the previous Android device. There is also a timer for the call, and you can mute yourself if needed during the conversation. Given that the UI seems more polished than what has been seen in the past, Google could be close to launching the call casting feature. However, there has been no confirmation given by the company as to when — or if — it will be coming to Meet.

There’s no denying the convenience of such a feature, and Google has seemingly acknowledged that it’s something worth developing. To that extent, it debuted its Telecom Jetpack library — which provides the ability to stream transfer voice-over-internet-protocol calls between phones and tablets — back in 2023. Although it wasn’t a feature that could be enabled like Handoff, it included the APIs needed to make such transfers possible. The library ultimately allowed for seamless transferring between Pixel phones and tablets, to the delight of device owners. However, there is clearly still room for improvement, and this latest development suggests a better option could be on the way.
