My Students and I Just Love This Online Quiz Tool
Here’s why.
From where you should vacation next to which Hogwarts house you belong to, everyone loves taking an online quiz. Maybe that’s why both my students and I love Quizlet , an EdTech website. Not familiar with this amazing tool? Quizlet is a FREE web- and mobile-based study app that can be used in all grades and subject areas. You can also upgrade to a Quizlet Teacher account for $35.99 a year.
With Quizlet, there are so many options for you and your students to use. Here are six ways you can put this program into action in your classroom:
1. Vocabulary study
You (or your students) can create digital flash cards by putting the vocabulary word on one side and the definition on the other. Students can also use the Match option to practice matching the vocabulary word with the correct definition.
2. Review specific skills
In ELA, if students are learning about text structure, you can create a set with different examples of text structures on one side and the answers on the other. Take it a step further and have students create their own sets, providing examples and then identifying them. In math, you might create multiplication sets to help students master their multiplication tables.
[contextly_auto_sidebar]
3. Assessment
Use the Quizlet Test feature to assess students on skills they are learning in class. The teacher can set the correct and incorrect answers, and then the assessment will be graded automatically, leaving less work for the teacher.
4. Differentiation
Easily differentiate by creating specific study sets for students based on learning level. For example, the teacher can provide students who need more assistance with a link to a study set that offers more help. The more advanced students can be provided with a separate set that requires more thought.
5. Collaboration
I love using Quizlet for group projects. For example, let’s say you’re doing a STEM project where the end result will be for students to create rockets. Put students into groups and then assign each group member a specific area to research. The first student could come up with five to 10 materials that would be needed to build the rocket. Then that student would create a study set with a description of the material on one side and a picture of the material on the other. The second student would research why NASA launches rockets into space and then do a description of each reason on one side of the study set. On the other side would be an image that represents each reason. The third student could look into what powers rockets. A list of the various chemicals that do this could go on one side of the study set, and the other would be a picture of the chemicals. Student four could research different rocket launches that have occurred and then create a study set for each rocket launch. One side would have the name of the launch, and the other would have a description of when it occurred and what purpose it served.
6. Quizlet Live
This is always a favorite with students. Quizlet Live can be launched with any study set. Students don’t need accounts to participate. They simply go to Quizlet Live and then type in the unique code the teacher gives them. Once all students have joined, they are randomly put into groups. Then the game can begin. For each question, possible answers appear on teammates’ screens; however, only one member of the team has the correct answer. Students work together to communicate and determine which teammate has the correct answer. At the end of the game, teachers receive a snapshot that shows how well students understood the material.

Using Blooket in the Classroom
March 7, 2021 by Bethany 4 Comments
I’ll admit, at first glance, I almost wrote off Blooket as a tool that was geared more toward the younger grades. Friends, save yourself the regret and DON’T DO THIS! I teach juniors and seniors and they LOVE BLOOKET!
To get started, obviously head over to Blooket and make an account. Blooket, like so many other fabulous tools, offers the ah-mazing option to sign in with Google. I normally suggest choosing this option to avoid having to remember yet ANOTHER username and password combo – let’s be honest, FORGET another username and password! – but, this is one of those tools that plays well with another favorite of mine – Quizlet! So, if you create your Blooket account with the same GSuite account that you used to create your Quizlet account … let’s just say it’ll make your life a bit easier 😉
Now that you have an account, it’s time to create your first activity! Here’s a step-by-step guide that can LITERALLY BE DONE IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES!
STEP 2: Import from Quizlet While both options are super easy to use, when I created my first game on Blooket, I chose the Quizlet import option because, well, I was doing this about 5 minutes before class started! Here’s what you get when you click this option:
One of the best parts of this feature is that users can either choose a Quizlet deck that they have created within their own Quizlet account OR can search for the deck they’d like to use on Quizlet. No need to reinvent the wheel if you don’t want to!
If you choose the Quizlet option, you’ll be taken to your Quizlet account. Then, you’ll choose a deck that you have in your account and click on the three little dots on the deck to view additional options. Pick “export.”
The export option will bring you to this screen. Select the “copy text” icon which will copy your terms/definitions to your clipboard.
STEP 4: More questions? Yes? No? See! That’s really easy, right? Once you’ve added your questions, you’ll be brought to a screen that gives you the option to add additional questions. I use this option to add questions as we proceed through our unit. If you’d like to add more questions, click “add question.” If you’d like to import additional questions from Quizlet, select “import from Quizlet.” At this screen, you’ll also be able to set the time limit for each question, change the order of the question, or duplicate the question. If you’re happy with the questions, just save your set.
STEP 5: PLAY!!! See?! It really is super easy! When you’re ready to play the game, you’ll choose the game mode. Some of the game modes are available for “live” play, which is perfect for synchronous activities (in-person OR virtual learning), others are “homework” mode (you assign the game and share the code with students to play outside the classroom), or both! The current favorites in my classroom are Tower Defense and Gold Quest!
Give Blooket a try! Your students will love it!

I love Blooket and so do my students! One of my favorite things about Blooket is that you can select the length of the game, so I can squeeze in an entire game even if there are only a few minutes left in class. It serves as a great motivator for students to complete assignments if they know there is a possibility of playing Blooket. Thanks for the tip on importing Quizlet sets. Looking forward to trying it as a timesaver.

I’ve got some teachers who are so excited about Blooket. They say their kids LOVE it. I am invited to play with a class later this week and I can’t wait!

Answer Keys
- In tutorial questions, if you skip a step, the answer key is displayed for that step before the due date. This allows you to continue with the tutorial.
- If allowed by your instructor, answer keys might be displayed automatically before the due date, usually after a specified number of submissions.
- If allowed by your instructor, the View Key button might be displayed after the assignment due date has passed. Click this button to see the answer keys for all questions on the assignment. Note If you view the answer key, your instructor will probably not grant you an extension for the assignment. Only your instructor can grant an extension.

In case you don't know, Quizlet is a popular education website with learning tools and study guides. Thanks to the textbook solutions available on the site, you can easily find homework help. But this extension called Quizlit makes the process even easier.
The add-on lets you search Quizlet from any webpage, so you don't have to open the Quizlet site every time. Just click the Quizlit button , enter your question in the search bar, and press enter to see the relevant answers from Quizlet. Even better, you can select any question and choose Search for from the right-click context menu.
The extension shows multiple answers for each question and lets you copy the suggested answers with a single click. If you don't find the answers on Quizlet, you can try searching for them on the other tutoring sites for homework help .

Buttons for Searches
When you need to do a fast search, a basic button can be the answer. These Chrome extensions let you search with a click.
1. Google Scholar Button
Google offers a ton of search tools and some are specific to patents, images, and of course, education. The Google Scholar Button lets you search for a topic easily. Click the button in your toolbar, pop in your search term, and then get your results.
You will receive a short number of results within the search window and can select a title to go right to the page. Or to view all results, click the full-screen button at the bottom of the pop-up window and a new tab will open for you. This is one of the must-have online tools if you're doing academic research .

2. Course Hero
Course Hero is similar to Google Scholar in that you click the button to search for a topic and then head to the site for the results. What's a bit different is that you need to create an account to obtain the resource. But, you can create one for free in just a few minutes.
Then, you will have access to documents and flashcards relating to your topic. Plus, you can get help from educators. You can also bookmark sources, keep track of your recently viewed items, and download the mobile app to study on-the-go.

Helpers for Focus
Don't get distracted by social media when you are doing homework. Use one of these awesome tools to help you focus and finish.
1. ReCall Study Time
Set up your study session, mark the pages you want to monitor, and get to work with ReCall Study Time. You can choose from two hours for those quick homework sessions or 24 hours for the all-nighters. Then, select the social media sites to block like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
If you feel yourself weaken and head to one of the monitored sights, you will instead be greeted with a nasty-gram like the one above. If you have trouble staying away from social media to get your homework done, check out ReCall Study Time.
Download: ReCall Study Time (Free)
2. Focus Mode
Focus Mode is another site-blocking tool to use while you are doing your homework. The extension monitors four sites by default, including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. You can choose which to unblock and add a custom blocked site if there is an additional temptation not on that list.
When you start your study or research session, just hit the extension button in the toolbar and turn on the toggle button . Then, when you try to access one of the monitored pages, you will view a blurred screen with a message that focus mode is on.
When you finish, turn off the toggle button and check out your distraction attempts if you're curious. You can also take a five-minute break when you're tempted to check your feed.
