Essay: Most Beautiful Place I Have Ever Seen

Posted by Amazing Traveler | May 24, 2017 | America | 0 |

Majestic scenery, wilderness, and wildlife make up the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Millions of people travel to the United States to visit Yosemite National Park every year, but for me, it was more than just a national park, it was the most beautiful place I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. Drenched in history, the Yosemite National Park was first discovered by Native Americans over 10,000 years ago, and we can thank President Abraham Lincoln who first signed a grant in 1864 to permanently protect the land. Yosemite was one of the first territories preserved for its scenic beauty, public use, and continued enjoyment.

The Yosemite National Park is renowned worldwide for being one of the most beautiful national parks to visit. It situate in Central Sierra Nevada of California, and 95% of the park officially class as wilderness (that is huge considering the entire park covers 1200 square miles)!

I will never forget to look up to witness the most incredible, dramatic waterfalls pounding down from sheer cliff edges. Awe-inspiring granite cliffs and crystal clear streams surrounding me and putting the power of nature into perspective. If you have ever considered exploring the Yosemite National Park, please give yourself plenty of time to do so. A week was not long enough for me!

Essay: Most Beautiful Place I Have Ever Seen

Placing the enchanted landscapes to the side; my main inspiration to visit Yosemite stemmed from all the stories I had heard of wildlife living in peace and protection in their natural habitats. I had read about wild coyotes, black bears, mountain lions, river otters, pumas, panthers and over 200 species of birds circling the area! Of course, you are not guaranteed to see everything, but by giving myself a week there, I was able to see quite a lot.

Useful & Interesting Fact!

According to various articles, there are approximately 400-500 black bears in Yosemite but it is important you know what to do should you ever come face-to-face with one of them. Yes, they are gorgeous to look at and watch (I had the pleasure of seeing four black bears during my time there) but, as you will be aware, they can be dangerous if you find yourself too close. Maybe easier said than done but try not to show fear if this happens. Stand your ground, raise your arms and make almighty loud noises!!! It says that bears will most likely be scared away.

My top 5 things to do in Yosemite National Park:

Visit yosemite valley.

Described as the most stunning location in the whole of America, the Yosemite Valley is of course not to miss. It is seven miles long and less than a mile wide accommodating the Merced River which flows through it. Here I was lucky enough to witness how the deer and coyotes live; to say this was an enjoyable experience would be an understatement.

Visit Yosemite Falls

It is the highest waterfall in the Yosemite National Park and the fifth-highest waterfall in the entire world. The impact of the water as it hits the base of the lower fall echoes through much of the valley and if you are lucky you will witness the most magical rainbow on a sunny day. It is a common sight for explorers!

El Capitan Rock Climbing Mecca

Rising more than 3,000 feet straight up from the Yosemite Valley floor, this is said to be the single largest piece of granite in the world! This world-class destination for experienced climbers is a wonder to climb, and I loved every second of it.

Yosemite Tunnel View

This iconic scene is one of the most stunning things I have ever seen. It allows the perfect balance of sights including El Capitan on the left, Half Dome in the center and Bridalveil Fall on the right! It’s one of the first views you will encounter upon entering the Yosemite Valley and will leave you speechless.

Mariposa Grove

Just wow! Have you ever had the pleasure of seeing the majestic Redwood Trees? These are known to be the largest living thing in the world and can grow up to 85m in height. Visit the Mariposa Grove for a full dose of these enormous trees and the ‘Grizzly Giant’ which is believed to be over 2,700 years old.

Essay: Most Beautiful Place I Have Ever Seen

Are you an adventurer, an explorer of all things wild and beautiful? I sure am.

Hiking, backpacking, and skiing are all possible at this magnificent area of the world. I spent time indulging in the action packed sports activities such as snowboarding, white-water rafting, hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing the sheer cliff edges at the Yosemite National Park! The wilderness is a real escape from the stresses of modern day civilization, and you can rely on the bubbling natural hot springs to soothe your mind and energy. It is just my experience of this mind-blowing landscape; there is so much more fun to have.

It is situated in the middle of the mighty Himalayas. Home to some of the world’s most exotic flora and fauna, it is believed to be the abode of the Gods. The caves of Amaranth where the temple of Lord Shiva is situated, is a marvellous place to visit. It is situated at a height of nearly 15,000 feet. There are a lot of beautiful and wonderful places all over the world, and every living soul on this planet must have a place he/she would love to return to at least for a moment. And such places do differ with people; as for me, I am deeply keen of nature, mountains especially. The place that I was and am quite astounded with is located on the very border with Canada in the region of San Juan Islands, some 100 miles from Seattle, WA, and is called the Orcas Island. Quite interesting is the name of the island, and it actually stands for itself – there are a lot of orcas in the waters of Eastsound (I was lucky to come across couple of them while travelling with a ferry). When you come to the island, the first thing you notice is how green the whole place is. I mean, that part of the U.S is incredibly green comparing it to other states, but the Orcas Island does differ with its pure, rich with oxygen air, crystal blue (when it is not raining) sky, with view so picturesque you want to stay and never leave the place. The house we were staying in was located on the top of the hill at the very edge of the island, so, that when you look straight ahead, all of the neighbor islands become visible, with vast waters surrounding them, and stretching for miles. The whole island is full of tall pine trees that make the air so clean, you will think you have never truly breathed before. The island’s nature fully reveals itself early in the morning (especially during the sunrise); when you wake up and go outside, first thing you will see is fog, as it is quite foggy there. But later, as it starts to dissolve, the vast shapes of the nearby islands with their hilltops start to come into view; then whole islands become visible, with water all around them. At the daytime the temperature rises, and you might be able to enjoy the time being outside, if you are lucky enough not to get caught up in the rain. But we did actually catch the rain in one of days spent there, and quite frankly it was even more beautiful for me, as I just love to see Mother Nature in action. Sitting on the front porch, looking into the deep and watching the storm slowly coming towards you, with lightning and thunder seen and heard somewhere far, but so close, is an amazing feeling that leaves you breathless. During daytime it is quite nice to simply wander around the forest, and to be able to feel all the might of those huge old pine trees. Here and there you can see some animals that despite the disturbance carry on with their activities. In the evening, when the sun goes down another view becomes revealed, the view that can be seen only in the highlands or in the mountains. As this place is higher above the sea level than most of our cities, stars here are bigger and brighter, so that during a clear night you can take your sleeping bag, and watch this night theater till the morning comes. Such is my favorite and the most beautiful place and those days will stay in my memory for the time to come. And when I have a slight chance to go there, I use that chance, admiring the breathtaking beauty of the place as if for the first time.

The Most Beautiful Places I’ve Ever Been To (So Far)

International travel is still off the cards for now but the world is still full of amazing sights. Here are the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to… so far.

The most beautiful places I've ever been to... so far

Hard to believe it’s been about one year since Coronavirus shut down international borders. It’s amazing how much globalisation, the Internet, and fantastic airline services made the world so connected. Nowadays the digital highways are getting the most traffic but we still remember a time when travel was freely available and people were posting their great travel pics from different countries.

Unlike a lot of people, I never really had the travel bug. Whereas a number of people I’ve known spent their early adulthood travelling like they’d literally been bitten by something and the only cure was to go to every country their budget would allow, I went straight from school to uni, doing some extra subjects, and then from uni into work. It was as I got a bit more established in my career that I started travelling overseas. It’s definitely started to grow on me and I’ve enjoyed every trip I’ve done so far.

And I haven’t been to too many countries, especially not compared to some people I know – one person I know who is about the same age as me has been to (no joke) about 100 countries, including Antarctica. My country list has been steadily growing now and sitting around 10 which I’m pretty happy with so far. And amongst the travels I have done, I have seen quite a few absolutely brilliant places.

So I thought in the spirit of not being able to travel physically, I would share some of the brilliant places I’ve enjoyed. Here are the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to… so far.

Lake Baroon/Northbrook Parkway during winter – Queensland, Australia

the best place i have ever seen essay

Starting off this list with a few local spots for this Queenslander. Queensland and Australia has a number of wonderful places – I think of places like Darling Harbour in Sydney, the Great Ocean Road, the Blue Mountains and scenic cities like Toowoomba. The first and the last on that mini list almost made an appearance here.

But when I think about some places that truly take my breath away, I think of two places. First is the drive and tracks around the Northbrook Parkway beyond Mount Glorious. Between Mount Glorious and Wivenhoe is a super windy road that gorgeous at any time of the year, but during winter it is truly stunning. Fog permeates a thick canopy that makes you feel like you’ve entered a magical wooden realm, and the sunlight coming through the misty road is wonderful. Add to that the weather being ideal temperatures and you have one magical location.

And of course there’s Lake Baroon. Seated just behind Maleny and Montville, this lake is gorgeous. Also great at any time of the year, during winter it turns into an idyllic rest spot enshrouded with mist.

Maybe I just like mist in my Queensland but the Australian environment in that setting is breathtaking.

The amazing buildings of Macau

the best place i have ever seen essay

Some years ago now I went on what started during planning as a boys trip and turned into a proposal for some of my good friends. We went to Hong Kong and mainland China as part of the trip, and both of those are pretty great places. Hong Kong as many buildings but also a surprising number of villages and nature spots around the Sai Kung area, and Zhongshan in China is very very green and crisp. But I think the standout location for me from that trip was seeing the amazing buildings of Macau.

Macau was a region in Asia that was reached by the Portugese during their exploration, and the city itself is an amazing hybrid of two seemingly disparate cultures. I’m not aware of any other place on earth where Cantonese and Portugese are the main languages, but there you go.

I’m not a gambling man myself, but I must say the casinos and hotels of the city are phenomenal sites. Their designs are so interesting and on the inside you think you stepped into royalty. Having been to places like Hampton Court, the Greek and Roman leadership structures in Athens, and Versailles, I think even as grand as they were, the buildings of Macau stand out even more. A true modern marvel, and if you like the old stuff, there’s also the Ruins of St Paul with a centuries old ruin of a cathedral that burned down.

Plus the food in the city is unreal. Recommended.

The Cotswolds – England

the best place i have ever seen essay

The definition of quaint. There’s a lot of really pretty locations within Cotswolds, which is probably why England labelled the whole region an Area of Natural Beauty (AONB).

Stratford-upon-Avon (I wish Australia had more places with “upon” in their name) highlights exactly why England has so many great writers, including Shakespeare who is buried there. The River Avon is a wonderful passageway surrounded by constant green and swans, and the town itself merges city with classical England seamlessly. Then there’s multiple wonderful little towns around – Broadway, Long Compton, Oxfordshire, Evesham, and all the driveways in between. The on-again off-again rain makes it even more memorable and I realise why my country doesn’t have many stone houses – England must have used all the world’s stone to build their country.

The only thing to watch out for – pheasants. Two ran in front of the car and the speed limit is surprisingly high for somewhere so cute. Fortunately no one was behind us and we could go around them, but you’ve been warned.

St Pauls Cathedral/Basilica Sacre-Coeur – London, England and Paris, France

the best place i have ever seen essay

As a Christian , I do love visiting me a good church. I’ve been to quite a number around the world, but these two in particular made me cry from their overwhelming beauty.

I’m a believer that there can be physical locations which house great spiritual power, whether good or evil. It can be somewhere large or even just someone’s home. For these two churches, they were definitely strong in the best possible way. Even those who don’t believe in God or a higher power recognized the power of both places.

St Pauls has a history dating back 1500 years in London , with the cathedral itself being quite old as well. The artwork, the architecture, and the sheer reverence for the source material yield a place where I joined many, many people in awe of what the cathedral represents.

As Notre Dame was burned down when we went to France, we instead went to Basilica Sacre Coeur near where we were staying. Atop the Mount of Martyrs (Montmarte) in the heart of Paris, it was like the stronghold keeping watch over the whole city. And similarly with St Pauls, it was a stellar building with strong spiritual and historical significance to the Christian faith.

Galway Bay/Ashford Castle – Galway and Cong Regions, Ireland

the best place i have ever seen essay

I have Irish ancestry a few generations back, and being in Ireland was the first time I’ve ever felt “the call of home” anywhere outside of the city I live in so far. Ireland is a magical place and well earns the name the Emerald Isle. In truth there was something very familiar about it, even with its trees, roads, and layout – I think if Australia had as much rain as Ireland did, it would look almost the same.

Except two places in particular – Galway Bay, and Ashmore Castle.

Ashmore Castle is a castle converted into a $700 a night hotel, with amazing restaurants. I thought I’d be super romantic and while we didn’t budget for staying somewhere so expensive, I at least wanted to take my wife there for lunch. Unfortunately we discovered that unless you’re staying at the hotel you can’t go into the restaurants, but what we did get turned out even better – for a small fee you could come in and tour the entire grounds of the castle.

And it is the most stellar collection of gardens I’ve ever been to. The Cong River runs through, falcons fly around, holly grows like you’re in a perpetual Christmas, old monasteries and ruins lie throughout from 800-900 years ago, and the trees and atmosphere are wonderful. Definitely recommended.

Ah, and then there’s Galway Bay. Like many people, I have often heard the songs and the poetry about this majestic place, but to go there was a unique privlege in life. Even better than it had rained across the whole country on our drive over from Dublin, but there was no rain over Galway that day. We watched from Oranmore Castle as the sun took several hours to go down, jumping up and increasing in size as it kept hitting the Western horizon. Water running and birds flying, it was as if time itself was standing still.

Now I understand why the song writer asked to make their heaven in that dear land across the Irish sea. The colours, the atmosphere,

Lake Pukaki/Mount Cook – Canterbury Region, New Zealand

the best place i have ever seen essay

This was a total surprise. New Zealand is an amazing country both in the north and southern islands. But the south island for sure has a distinct beauty about it. Out of all the marvelous sights, I think Lake Pukaki and Mount Cook together is easily the second most amazing sight I’ve ever seen.

I heard heaps about Lake Tekapo and the Church of the Good Shepherd, but after being exposed to Pukaki and Mount Cook via the Hooker Valley Trail first, Tekapo seemed like a touristy puddle in comparison (although still very cute). Lake Pukaki is a huge lake fed by glacial waters from the Tasman Glacier. And by huge, I mean we thought it seemed a bit small until it took over 90 minutes to drive to Mount Cook around it.

I know Queenstown and Milford Sound get a lot of credit, but I would highly recommend this little trek a few hours from Christchurch near the town of Twizel.

And Mount Cook. Wow. A true marvel and fortunately much easier to get a good look at than the similarly sized Fuji (although Fuji is also very nice). Colourful, imposing, yet gracious, this is a wonderful sight – especially if you get on the various ridges where you can see Mount Cook reflected over the glacial waters of Pukaki.

the best place i have ever seen essay

Ah. Hokkaido. Cheating a bit because unlike the above, this is a much larger area.

When I was at Osaka Castle, I met an elder man named Takashi who wanted to practice his English with me and was surprised when I could keep up somewhat with his Japanese. He gave me a little painting of Hakodate, his home town, when he learned that I was planning to go up to Sapporo as part of my trip. He told me all about what a beautiful place it was and also that Hokkaido in general was also a beautiful place. I had seen photos but hearing it from a local was great to hear. Little did I know I still wasn’t ready for just how amazing this place is.

Hokkaido is the northern most island of Japan. As I wrote about I went to Japan for about a month with only my first week booked and a JR Pass to go anywhere I wanted. There’s a train that links the main island Honshuu to Hokkaido via a tunnel under the ocean between the two islands. When the train emerged from the tunnel, tears started streaming down my face straight away in pure awe.

What a sight this place is. All of it. Well I didn’t go to all of it, but I went to a lot of it. I went to Takashi’s home town Hakodate. I went to the capital Sapporo, where I sat under sakura trees that grew and bloomed over my head as I sat in a park reading in the shade of snowy mountains. In the span of hours, the trees that had been sticks that morning were flowing flowers in the breeze throughout the central park.

I went to Otaru, a seaside town, and had crab straight from the ocean. I was present for a tsunami warning. I walked the wave breakers and stared out into the sea of Japan.

I went up to the northernmost city, Wakkanai, and saw Sakahlin Island in Russia across the Soya Strait. I experienced the Siberian weather that still blew over the sea even in the final month of spring. I visited the statue of the Empress crying over her country.

I saw Mount Rishiri, a mountain that is frozen solid for most of the year, looking like a giant iceberg reflected on the sea. The Japanese refer to it as Rishiri Fuji given their similarities.

Unfortunately given the east of Hokkaido is subject to a *lot* of seismic activity I wasn’t game to head out that far (and my Kanji isn’t great meaning I would probably get really lost on that side) but maybe one day.

The snow. The colours. The mountains. The rivers and melting ice as the defiant cold of the great north finally started giving way to spring. The might of the Ring of Fire and the evidence of earthquakes and tsunami damage throughout contrasting against what a beautiful island this was. Oh yeah, and I got to do it all during Sakura season, experiencing multiple instances of what some refer to as a once in a lifetime event.

I stayed in 14 different cities during my stay in Japan and went through many more than that traveling around the place, and while I consider Osaka the summary of Japan, Hokkaido is definitely the jewel. As soon as travel opens up again, get yourself up there.

So there you have it. The most beautiful places I’ve ever been… so far. As the list continues to grow I may some alterations in the future, but for now I am very content to say these places are drop-dead gorgeous.

The world is a beautiful place. An absolute masterpiece of design. The most brilliant artwork of a master painter. These and so many other places remind me that a greater hand is always at work and remind me just how small but treasured I really am. Cherished beyond all words, this love never ends.

How about you? What are the most beautiful places you’ve ever been to? Have you been to any of these?

The most beautiful place I’ve ever been to…

The most beautiful place I’ve ever been to…

  • Ben Schlappig
  • August 6, 2011

A couple of days ago I posted a few pictures of my journey from Phuket , though didn’t reveal where I was heading. Well, the answer is to another relaxation destination, namely Berchtesgaden. I’ve been meaning to stay at the InterContinental Berchtesgaden for years, though never had a practical opportunity to do so, until now (due in part to the fact that I’m finally old enough to rent a car).

Berchtesgaden is about a two hour drive from Munich Airport. Not only is the hotel spectacular, but the town and scenery is stunning. It’s truly the most beautiful place I’ve ever been, along with Queenstown, New Zealand.

I’ll save all the details for the trip report, though will simply say this is the most relaxing place I’ve been in a long time. Beaches don’t excite me. I don’t like sand, don’t especially like the sun (I look like a lobster after about an hour of sunlight), and don’t particularly like old people in Speedos. I do, however, like mountains.

Now I’m off to my next destination. Of course in the interest of consistency I won’t reveal it either, though I will say it’s a spectacular hotel redemption, if that’s any sort of a clue.

Hurry up and post the full review! Thinking about going to Berchtesgaden around the beginning of October.

Reader, don't get your speedos in a twist. Lucky didn't say he dislikes all old people, only those in speedos. I'm older and couldn't agree more. If I offered to show you a picture of me in a bikini now and 30 years ago, which would you choose?

Lucky did nothing wrong. He expressed an opinion and you are wrong for so impolitely discouraging it.

Have you bothered to ask old people what they think of you. The more your personality comes out the more arrogant it appears.

Hope your business of blogging does well. Remember not to piss off your readers.

Off to Schloss Fuschl next?

Lucky, ever thought about traveling around Norway? Seems like it might be your kind of place.

Coins, when you say that you don't like old people in speedos, I understand. I dislike speedos. But answer this... when you say old people, how old are you talking about? 35, 45, 58, 75? Careful how you answer cough cough.

I loved this place also. Its amazing the the IC Berchtesgaden was built in the exact spot of Herman Goering's house. Also fron the indoor pool you can look up and see Hitler's old eagles Nest. I hope you took the electric boats on the Konigsee. I loved the echo.

Lucky, you live in the wrong state!

I was just in Munich earlier this week and had been planning to visit Berchtesgaden but the heavy rain deterred me. I went to Salzburg instead which was beautiful too. Driving in Germany is a lot of fun too!

I know it is a different country but "the hills are alive......."

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • In a nutshell

The Nicest Place I Have Seen : The Kashmir valley.

Kashmir is the nicest place I have ever seen. I happened to visit Kashmir valley this year. The moment I crossed the boundary of the valley, I was wonder- struck to see the ravishing beauty of the “paradise on earth.” Some rightly call it the “Switzerland of India.” Indeed, Kashmir valley is one of the most bewitching and beautiful valleys of the world.

It is situated in the middle of the mighty Himalayas. Home to some of the world’s most exotic flora and fauna, it is believed to be the abode of the Gods. In addition, there are many historical monuments, picturesque spots, enchanting landscapes and green forests. Apart from the fact that it is the most lucid expression of God on earth, Kashmir is also a land of temples and taverns. It is the home of various Gods and Goddesses as well as an abode of saints and sages. Its winding rivers, huge lakes, mighty waterfalls, snow- clad mountains, long cypress tree lines and delightful gardens render this place the name “a Mecca of beauty.”

Some of the places of historical interest are the monuments of great importance and significance. The Nishat Bagh, Chandanwari, Verinag, Anantnag, Chashma Shahi, Nagin Lake and Shalimar Gardens are places for every visitor to see. The scene of Dal Lake with houseboats and their reflection in the still waters of the lake, presents a beautiful spectacle. The mighty cataracts, producing music of their own haunt our minds. The caves of Amaranth where the temple of Lord Shiva is situated, is a marvellous place to visit. It is situated at a height of nearly 15,000 feet. Besides this, there are other places of religious interest and shrines of historical importance. Every year, thousands of people make a pilgrimage to these ancient and religious shrines of India.

Kashmir is one of the best natural spots of India. Its exquisite scenery, superb sights, green fields and tall trees of deodar and cypress add to the beauty and grandeur of this God-gifted paradise on earth. The entire valley is enthralling. That is why, a large number of foreign tourists come to this place.

Over and above these things, Kashmir valley is endowed with some of the best hill stations like Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Sonmarg and Khilanmarg. These hill stations are fascinating and are good health resorts. Khilanmarg is the place where the tree-line ends in Kashmir.

On the whole, the entire valley, with its cultural hues, narrow ravines and gorges as well as hills and dales make it a heavenly abode on earth. The whole Kashmir valley, is an embodiment of the beauty and bounty of nature.

Gather Information

Make sure to research the topic thoroughly so you can provide accurate and detailed descriptions. Read up as much as you can about the history of the place, and any interesting facts or stories about it.

Structure Your Essay

Outline your descriptive essay before beginning to write so all points flow logically from one to another throughout the entire piece.

Make sure to include a strong introduction and conclusion, as well as several body paragraphs that help support your main points.

Use Vivid Language

Make sure to use strong and powerful words when describing the place you're writing about. Use metaphors and similes to bring your descriptions to life and make them more interesting for readers.

Proofread Your Essay

Proofreading is an important step in any writing process, especially when it comes to descriptive essays. Make sure to check for any typos or spelling errors that may have slipped through in your writing.

You also need to make sure that the flow of your essay is logical and coherent. Check if you've used a consistent point of view throughout, and make sure that all ideas are well-supported with evidence.

A biologist writing in the Science Times talks about how “Avatar,” for her, “recreated what is the heart of biology: the naked, heart-stopping wonder of really seeing the living world.” When have you observed something in nature —whether a beautiful place, fascinating animal, spectacular storm or anything else large or small — that inspired wonder in you?

In her essay, “Luminous 3-D Jungle Is a Biologist’s Dream,” Carol Kaesuk Yoon writes about how seeing “Avatar” made her “enter into a state of ecstatic wonderment, to have the urge to leap up and shout: ‘Yes! That’s exactly what it’s like!'”

Mr. Cameron somehow has the audience seeing organisms in the tropical-forest-gone-mad of the planet Pandora just the way a biologist sees them. With each glance, we are reminded of organisms we already know, while marveling over the new and trying quickly to put this novelty into some kind of sensible place in the mind. To so strongly experience these kinds of wonderfully shocking similarities and dissimilarities among living things is the kind of experience that has largely been the prerogative of biologists — especially those known as taxonomists, who spend their days ordering and naming the living things on Earth. But now, thanks to Mr. Cameron, the entire world is not only experiencing this but also reveling in it […] Maybe it takes a dreamlike ecstasy to break through to a world so jaded, to reach people who have seen David Attenborough here, there and everywhere, who have clicked — bored — past the Animal Planet channel hundreds of times without ever really seeing the animals. Maybe it takes a lizard that can glow like fire and hover like a helicopter and a staring troop of iridescent blue lemurs to wake us up. Maybe “Avatar” is what we need to bring our inner taxonomist back to life, to get us to really see.

Students: Tell us what you’ve seen in the natural world that inspired wonder in you. It might be something you encounter every day, like a favorite tree, or something that you’ve only seen once, like a spectacular snowstorm or the northern lights. It could be a place you’ve visited, animal behavior you’ve observed, or an experience you had that made you feel connected to and aware of nature. Whatever it is, tell us what you observed and why it made you “really see the living world.”

I’ve submitted 3 photos of the most amazing lichen I’ve ever seen in my neighborhood park late last summer… they looked like giant roses! Simply couldn’t believe they were real and was amazed that no one had kicked them to smitherenes but left them to grow on the park path to full bloom and color! They made me curious about lichens like never before.

Giant Leopard Slugs! I’d never seen a slug any bigger than about an inch before except on TV. The Giant Leopard’s utterly spellbinding mating ritual was filmed in, I assumed, some very exotic far-away place that probably has unicorns and mermaids too for all I knew. Imagine my shock and horror and amazement and wonder when I saw one here in Buffalo in a friend’s driveway, a huge spotted slug. I’ve seen 3 or 4 of them now, all but one on that same block — I guess they like it there.

The red rocks of Sedona, Arizona took my breath away when I came around the curve of the landscape and saw them for the first time! I was amazed at the unearthly color and shape and was instantly curious as to the why and where of this spectacular sight! The colors were like seeing “Avatar”! I couldn’t believe what I was seeing!

:)

THere was once a earthquake it was not that strong but i was realy scared then when the big earth quake happend on Haiti i, put myself in there place and said how abou if that was me i wouldve liked people to send me food and toilettries, this is not something that people in life, live everyday.

A total eclipse of the sun, knowing that I was standing at the end of a 93,000,000 mile lineup. The hair on the back of my neck is standing up now even as I write this…

The most amazing thing I have ever seen, that was so natural it was almost unnatural, is the moon. It is everything and nothing and its just beautiful. I dont think that anyone ever takes enough time to see and feel its wonder as they should. Its the greatest thing, it’s like theres all of this glowing magic trapped within the moon that surrounds us. Every night, no matter what happens, who is with me, I always know that the moon is there and thats enough for me. I’ll always know that if there is someone i love far away from me that if they look at the moon at the same time as i do, that were looking at the same thing and it connects us in a way thats exciting and unexplainable. Thats the magic that the moon gives us.

The most awesome thing I’ve ever seen are the waterfalls at the Wilds in South Carolina, theyre so cool because they all come from the snow covered mountains that lie above the valley. and the water is super duper cold

The most amazing thing I have ever seen was in Jamaica last summer. My family and I took an amazing ATV ride up the mountains of Jamaica until we ended up on one of the highest hills in Jamaica where we stopped for a drink. As I looked out across the vast hills and land stretching out into the ocean as the sun set on the thinning blue sky I realized that this was nature at its work and it was one of the most important sights I have ever seen.

The most amazing thing i have ever saw was a snowy tornado. it sucked up about 300 pounds of trees then pulled up then came back down and sucked up about 243 more pounds of stuff then all the snow shot out at the mount it was near…. IT WAS AWSOME!!!!!

I am sorry to say stopping at Animal Planet is no longer the joy it used to be. Now we see everything but the purity of the animals. There is no more Meerkat Manor and similar stories.

It differs from no other cable channel. I used to watch to see the animals. If I just want to watch television I can go to any other channel now. IT IS SAD!

The most amazing thing that I have seen would be the Grand Canyon. This tremendous gorge not only shows the path of natural development and shore but also shows human development around it. For thousands of years the great Colorado River carved slowly away at the rock of the Grand Canyon until it is at its current state. This wondrous process made me think what the canyon would have been millions of years ago, what organisms lived there, how was this place different? I also noted how humans have created developments on the canyon. Towns, camps, resorts, and scenic lookouts all show humanities technological achievements just as the proud river shows its achievements.

I’ve been to many places, around the United States, but the overall most amazing thing I have seen in the natural world, was hands down, The Grand Canyon. The name doesn’t even do it justice; it’s grander than anything. I went about 2 years ago and nothing has topped that trip yet. As i walked out to farthest edge, i looked around and I felt small. So incredibly small. I looked down and saw brilliant reds and grays leading down to what seemed to be a tiny creek bur really was the raging Colorado River, which was nearly a mile down. Knowing this at the time, my fear of heights kicked in and I started panicking. No matter what, i will always remember The Grand Canyon as on of the most spectacular places I’ve ever been to.

Camel Hill in China, Giant’s Causeaway in Ireland, Masada in Israel

The mountains and rainforests of West Virginia

the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen is the Ruby Falls it just fascinates me how this big waterfall could be hidden from the world so long could just be right underneath our feet and we didn’t even know it and how our amazing God could create it. I love how Leo Lambert named it in honor of his wife {aaahhh}. One of my favorite parts was it never rains [its under ground]. i loved the rocks they were so cool.well that’s my story for you.bye.!!!!!!!!.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

The most amazing thing i’ve seen was a rainbow. It was very beutiful and spectacular. They always brighten up my day. But this amazing peiece of art makes me wonder how it was made.

I saw that movie. There were scenes where i simply gasped with wonder, it was so beautiful!

I was in New Mexico a couple summers ago, up in the mountains. The mountain ranges were the most beautiful shades of purple, and there were little slivers of river snaking down them. The desert had its own beauty, more wild. The cacti, and the desert shrubs– just added to the rustic charm of NM. Can’t wait to go back!

As I looked at the vast valley of the Grand Canyon for the first time, it took my breath away! I couldn’t believe that a magnificent ravine existed. It made me start to wonder how this was like a million years ago, how the water marks descended after a time period, what kind of creatures lived back then. So I realized that I was standing beneath the water about a million years ago. The canyon has an elegance of its own, formed by nature. You don’t really know how it looks like until you see it for yourself. No words or pictures can describe the fascinating beauty of the Grand Canyon.

the most amazing i have ever seen was my cat just being its natural thing outside like it was just being a cat it wasnt licking me or anything it was just being adventurous and curious…. ahhh just amazing!!!

The most amazing things I’ve seen are supernovas. Anything I see in space through photos or my own telescope is truly amazing and unbelievable to look at.

Standing on top of a set of waterfalls staring out at half dome in Yosemite National Park in California was pretty nifty. I’d have to say it was worth the hours it took to climb up there.

The Grand Canyon is easily the most majestic and amazing thing I have ever seen in my life. Looking across the desert and down the canyons just took my breath away and I know I will never forget the sight of it. The valleys and rivers and gorges were all so elegant and made me feel incredibly small and vulnerable to mother nature. It was definitely worth the long car and plane rides in.

The Sequoia grove in Yosemite National Park was breathtaking. These trees had been there for decades, and towered over the valley. They were gargantuan in size, and I was completely blown away. Walking through them, and seeing the distinct trees people have seen fit to name was really a fantastic experience.

I’ve had a few incidents where I look at nature, and get that feeling in my stomach like its the most beautiful thing in the world. This has happened when I went to the Kartchner Cavern in Arizona with all the stalagmites and stalactites. In addition, the height of the grand canyon and the greenery when flying over Maryland stun me. Often when I’m walking home on a sunny day, looking up at the high trees above me make me smile in amazement.

The Place I Have Visited: Kyrgyzstan Essay

  • To find inspiration for your paper and overcome writer’s block

  • As a template for you assignment

One of the most beautiful places I have visited is the country of Kyrgyzstan. It lies in a mountainous area with stunning landscapes and nature untouched by humanity’s footprint. Kyrgyzstan is one of the former Soviet republics, which declared its independence in 1991 and joined the CIS. The country is unique with its pristine nature and numerous biosphere reserves. Besides, the Kyrgyz culture represents the nomadic lifestyle and rich history of the people. Along with an authentic cultural experience, Kyrgyzstan offers a great backpacking adventure for those who pay a visit.

When I first saw the beauty of the country’s nature, I was genuinely impressed. The picturesque scenery made me feel like I found myself in a storybook or a fairy tale. The open space seems to have no limits and stretches as far as the eye can see. Many countries are known for their beautiful nature, but the experience in Kyrgyzstan is unlike any other. As Stamboulis (2018) stated, the country is not highly populated, and no strict regulations prevent locals and tourists from exploring the countryside in its beauty, which, nevertheless, is not harmful to the wildlife. In such conditions, nature is blooming, the air always smells fresh, and clear water runs in rivers and streams.

Kyrgyzstan is often referred to as the “Swiss Alps of Central Asia” because of its location. The country lies between the Tien-Shan and the Pamir-Alay mountain ranges and encompasses a variety of ecosystems, among which mountain glaciers and arid canyons, alpine pastures and valleys, lakes and rivers (Jenish, 2017). The continental climate adds up to the unique experience one can get in the country, as various activities are available in different seasons, from swimming and horse riding to snowboarding and skiing. Kyrgyzstan cannot be boring, because wildlife is abundant and worth sightseeing in the country.

Visiting Kyrgyzstan is like being alive a hundred years ago, living in a country that is pure and innocent. As I arrived in Kyrgyzstan, the atmosphere of people’s life there astonished me. Even though the country has become more progressive, some locals still practice a semi-nomadic lifestyle, allowing the tourists to learn about the Kyrgyz culture and traditions. Apart from hiking in the mountains, another remarkable experience was tasting beshbarmak, a dish made of meat and noodles. It is meant to be eaten with hands, without cutlery, to focus on the flavors. However, it is difficult to name just one notable thing about Kyrgyzstan, since many experiences come to my mind. During my trip, I saw ancient petroglyphs of an old civilization and the historical routes of the Great Silk Road, tasted blini (traditional pancakes), touched the waters of Lake Issyk-Kul, and got a chance to see the works of local artisans. The hospitality of the Kyrgyz people, direct descendants of Genghis Khan, to westerners made my experience unforgettable.

To sum up, Kyrgyzstan is a country of friendly people and beautiful views, attractive for tourists who want to expand their horizons and come into contact with nature. The Kyrgyz culture has developed over the centuries, but the influence of nomadic life can be tracked up to today. This feature makes the country a fascinating destination for people who like to learn something new about other nations. The country is highly underrated as a tourist landmark, but visiting it is a remarkable experience.

IELTS BAND7

IELTS Speaking Sample Answer # Travel

You must have traveled to some or the other place. We all do. Travelling is that one thing that allows us to explore not only about the place but so much about ourselves and the people we travel to. Let us today have a look at some of the questions related to traveling and their possible answers.

Do you like to travel?

I love to travel, to explore new places and meet new people. It is so much fun for me and something I really love doing.

Where was the last place you visited on a holiday?

I remember going to Nainital with my father few months back. It was an amazing trip. The weather was great that day and we were on our bike, driving at a very slow speed, enjoying the journey and boating and eating corn and drinking tea. It was surely one of a great day.

What kind of places have you visited in your life?

For most of the time, I have visited only the places near to my granny’s house or the places where my father got located. But, since I have started working now, I am going to places I really want to. So, recently, I went to Mysore and I am planning to go Bhubaneswar next.

Which place would you really like to visit? Why?

I would one day love to visit Kashmir. People say that it heaven on Earth and I want to see and experience Kashmir for myself. I want to meet the people and know what is exactly in their minds regarding the heat in between India and Pakistan related to them and how is it like to live in what is considered to be heaven on Earth.

What is the best place you have ever visited?

For all the places that I have ever visited, I would say, Mysore was really beautiful. It is truly one of the safest cities that I have come across in my life and also very peaceful and full of history and culture. So, there is this Mysore palace and then Jagmohan Palace. Also, there are so many near by cities to it. You can go to bangalore or koorg or the waterfalls. It is truly amazing. The weather is great, people are nice and food is truly amazing.

Has a foreign visitor ever stayed at your home?

Well, not really, but I would always welcome any foreign person to my home and country.

What is the best way to save money while travelling?

I think the best way is to plan. When you have planned the entire journey, it becomes easier for you to travel cheaper because you know so much more about the journey. You know the places, the train tickets, the bus tickets, you know. So, you wait for some time and then take the best option.

What are some of the problems of long distance travelling?

I think the only problem with long distance travelling is that one tends to get bored after some time. But, if you are with your friends and your family members, I think there is no issue then. Apart from this, the other issue at hand is that some people tend to have some sort of ailments and travelling long distance is quite tiring.

Has the way people travel change over the last few decades?

I think it surely has changed. Their was a time when people preferred trains over flights. But with flight rates going down and so much offers being provided, also the economy of the country rising, I think people are now taking flights for longer distances. Even more, the economic condition of middle class people has risen, so now you can see them travelling in a better condition, as compared to the one may be a decade back.

What do you do while travelling?

Well, it all depends. If I am travelling alone, I tend to either read books or listen to music. I often also start writing about things here and there. But, when I am travelling with my friends or family members, we are mostly talking and playing games through out the journey. It is like when I am alone, I am usually making notes and doing some serious travel blogging thing, but with friends it is more about making memories.
