Everyone has to make a choice of a career or profession at one stage of life or another. It depends upon many factors such as one’s taste and temperament and aptitude, training and qualifications, knowledge and experience, background and resourcefulness.
No doubt, in some public schools and universities vocational guidance facilities have already been provided. But they are not adequate enough to meet the needs of the youngsters.
A thin and lean man with sickly disposition will be in the army like a round peg in a square hole. One who loves books and has a fascination for research will form a good scholar, while another who has a keen power of observation, a sharp eye and a steady hand would be a successful doctor or surgeon.
In good old days, the choice of a career was not a problem because of the absence of any cut-throat competition and the limited needs of the people. But now the situation has changed. Even for an ordinary post there are thousands of applicants.
Moreover, the present age is the age of specialization and expertise. The result is that there is keen competition in all walks of life. Without expert knowledge and high technical qualifica tions, it is futile to dream of producing a good poet.
Some other important factors in the choice of a career are the financial resources of a candidate and the recommendations that he can command. Some careers require a heavy financial investment in the training.
A strong recommendation also counts much in some technical, medical and other institutions. But the students who like to adopt such professions must have high mental calibre.
Essay on Career Choice
Modern society has grown increasingly complex, and the choice of a career correspondingly difficult. Specialisation has developed to such a degree that every major profession has produced a proliferation of specialisations. A discipline which the Greeks Placidly called ‘Philosophy’ has grown into a hydra with many heads. Social Science, History, and many more subjects with such a Multiplicity of avenues, the confusion which faces a student attempting to decide on a career is great indeed. essay on career choice, choosing a career, speech on career, speech on career for students, my career choice, career plan essay, speech on career choices, short essay on career, my career choice essay, my career plan essay, my career essay, tribal languages in india, threat to tribal languages in india, people’s linguistic survey of india, major tribal languages in india, tribal languages in india pdf
Training for each career is such a lengthy affair that it is impossible to change horses in mid-stream. For certain people, the decision is not much of a dilemma. The boy who sat sticking labels on bottles grew up into the Charles Dickens we know of. The Profligate John Donne matured into the Metaphysical Poet.
There are people who work throughout life with a single determination. At the other end, the mentally deficient person has no dilemma to face. His options are limited to his capabilities. Finally, these with an accepted family profession have little need for worry. A business- man’s son can always opt for business, at a more sophisticated level perhaps but nevertheless, the family occupation social class tends to limit them options to a degree the statistical probability of a labourer’s son becoming a businessman or his daughter becoming a doctor is bleak. select careers, career path essay, choose my career, choosing the right career, career aspiration sample essay, career plan example essay, paragraph on career, career of my choice, deciding on a career, career and subject choices, my dream career essay, indian tribes and their languages, number of tribal languages in india, threat to tribal languages in india, status of tribal languages in india, how many languages in india list pdf
Finally, those with an accepted family profession have little need for worry. A businessman’s son can always opt for business, at a more sophisticated level, perhaps but nevertheless the family occupation. Social class tends to limit the option to a degree. The statistical probability of a labourer’s son becoming a business man or his daughter becoming a doctor is black.
But for the vast majority of educated youth, the dilemma is real and often terrifying. One can opt to be a doctor just as one can become a lawyer. There are professions which promise security. An administrator or a government official is confident of his future. He gets his promotions and increments with the passage of time and eventually retires with a secure pension. But the opportunities for starting leaps in life, like risks are virtually non-existent. A lecturer’s existence is placed and sedate with the ease of long holidays thrown in. picking a career, career essay examples, best career choices, article about career choice, my future career essay, speech on career of my dreams, choosing a career essay, future career essay, things to consider when choosing a career,
There are professions which are fraught with excitement and challenge. A journalist can rise to dizzy heights and threaten immorality in high places, or fade into obscurity like untold numbers of writers. It is only the adventurous, confident or the conceited who opt for such careers. Business is traditionally the most risky of all careers. It requires the person to stake all his hopes on the profession. how many languages in india list pdf, indian tribes and their languages, major tribal languages in india, how many languages in india at present
A relatively recent phenomenon is the competitive examinations, on the basis which people are selected for various professions like the Indian Administrative Services. Banking government posts like clerks, assistants, etc. The logic of such procedures may be doubted because a person with 55% may be more intelligent than one with the required 60%, but it is a procedure hesitated by the large numbers of young graduates who seek jobs.
Each profession has its own disadvantages to the person, who has not decided on his, career. To a decisive person, these disadvantages fade into inconsequence beside the advantages. But for most people, the decision of a career requires balancing various aspects and on the basis of this analysis choosing one. The factors may be the security, the monetary gains, the adventure or the satisfaction offered by each career. Ultimately it is one’s temperament which has a say in choosing one.
Choosing a career is undoubtedly, a difficult piece of work these days. President Biden has repeatedly and rightfully described the stakes in this November’s presidential election as nothing less than the future of American democracy.
Donald Trump has proved himself to be a significant jeopardy to that democracy — an erratic and self-interested figure unworthy of the public trust. He systematically attempted to undermine the integrity of elections. His supporters have described, publicly, a 2025 agenda that would give him the power to carry out the most extreme of his promises and threats. If he is returned to office, he has vowed to be a different kind of president, unrestrained by the checks on power built into the American political system.
Mr. Biden has said that he is the candidate with the best chance of taking on this threat of tyranny and defeating it. His argument rests largely on the fact that he beat Mr. Trump in 2020. That is no longer a sufficient rationale for why Mr. Biden should be the Democratic nominee this year.
At Thursday’s debate, the president needed to convince the American public that he was equal to the formidable demands of the office he is seeking to hold for another term. Voters, however, cannot be expected to ignore what was instead plain to see: Mr. Biden is not the man he was four years ago.
The president appeared on Thursday night as the shadow of a great public servant. He struggled to explain what he would accomplish in a second term. He struggled to respond to Mr. Trump’s provocations. He struggled to hold Mr. Trump accountable for his lies, his failures and his chilling plans. More than once, he struggled to make it to the end of a sentence.
Mr. Biden has been an admirable president. Under his leadership, the nation has prospered and begun to address a range of long-term challenges, and the wounds ripped open by Mr. Trump have begun to heal. But the greatest public service Mr. Biden can now perform is to announce that he will not continue to run for re-election.
