Delhi: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has invited online applications for PhD Program for the January 2024 session. Detailed schedule - 1. Delhi: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has invited online applications for PhD Program for the January 2024 session.

Detailed schedule -

1. Last date for Online Registration of Application on AIIMS website – 26.1.2024

2. Status of Registration for correction of rejected images / other deficiencies through the Registration Status Tab of their My Page after Login. Applicants are required to check status - 31.01.2024

3. Last date for correction in images/submission of required documents for Regularization of Rejected Application - 02.02.2024

4. Last date for Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India to forward an approval regarding “No Objection” to the Foreign National for appearing in the Ph.D. Entrance Examination for Jan 2024 session - 02.02.2024

5. Finalization of centres and allotment of Roll Nos./Admit Card on website - 05.02.2024

6. CBT Examination Test through (CBT) Online mode - 09.02.2024

7. Excepted date of declaration of Result (Stage-1) - 19.02.2024

8. Departmental Assessment - 01.03.2024

9. Final Result - 11.03.2024

10. Last date for joining the PhD Program - 30.03.2024

Application Fee –

1. General/OBC Category: Rs.2000/- +Transaction Charges as applicable

2. SC/ST/EWS Category: Rs.1600/- +Transaction Charges as applicable

3. PWBD Candidates is exempted from any Fee

Mode of payment: Through Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking

Documents to be attached with the registration form –

Sponsored Candidates and Foreign nationals -

1. Sponsorship Certificate (in the case of sponsored candidate) in the format prescribed in the Prospectus, duly completed and signed by the competent authority.

2. NOC from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in the case of Foreign Nationals.

Proof of award of eligible fellowship for non-medical candidates applying in the OF category

Candidates who qualify in Stages I and II and are called for Departmental Assessment must upload their self-attested/attested copies of certificates/documents in support of their educational qualifications, marks, date of birth, category, experience etc. as mentioned in the Stage I and II result on the website by logging in with their credentials. They must write their Candidate ID, Roll No. & concerned Department on the top of the first page of each certificate.

General Eligibility -

Eligibility for PhD course (Open candidates)

A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of a Degree of Doctor of Philosophy must possess at least one of the following qualifications:

Medical qualification: MBBS/BDS with minimum 55% aggregate marks or MD/MS/MDS/DM/M.Ch. in the subject concerned or Diplomat of the National Board of Examination. Candidates who have obtained any of these degrees from medical colleges which are not recognized by the Medical Council of India shall not be eligible to apply.

Nursing Qualification : Candidates holding an M.Sc. degree with a minimum 55% aggregate marks in Nursing Speciality will also be eligible for Ph. D admission to the College of Nursing.

Non-Medical – For non-medical candidates eligibility shall be a Master’s Degree (two-year course) awarded by Indian Universities or equivalent in the subject as per requirement of the project.

Candidates holding M.Sc. (Other than M.Sc. Nursing) M.Tech. degree, BAMS & BHMS will be eligible for the Non-Medical Qualification Category. Candidates having eligibility under the non-medical category should have at least 60% marks in the last eligibility examination qualified.

Candidates possessing a Master’s Degree through distance learning courses shall not be eligible.

(a) Special weightage for non-medical candidates - 

Candidates who have qualified for the below listed National Entrance Tests leading to the award of a fellowship will be given special weightage in the entrance examination as detailed in the method of selection part of the guidelines. Such candidates should apply under the Own Fellowship (OF) category and upload proof of award of the qualifying fellowship in the online form.

1. Joint CSIR-UGC NET for JRF

2. ICMR – JRF

3. ICMR- SRF

4. DBT – JRF

5. NBHM screening test

6. INSPIRE fellowship

To be eligible for special weightage marks, ALL the following criteria must be fulfilled -

1. The result of the above-listed National Entrance Tests must have been declared between January 2022 and the last date of application i.e. 26.01.2024.

2. The award of the fellowship must be based on the result of the above-listed National Entrance Tests.

3. The fellowships should be tenable at AIIMS, New Delhi.

4. The letter of award of fellowship must be uploaded with the application form. Passing of the listed National Entrance Tests is not acceptable as proof of award of fellowship.

Eligibility for OF seats: To be eligible for OF seats, candidates must fulfil ANY of the following criteria - 

1. Candidates who have qualified for the National Entrance Tests leading to the award of a fellowship tenable at AIIMS AND are eligible for the award of special weightage marks as provided above.

2. In-service or sponsored candidates who will receive their salary/stipend from the sponsoring/parent organization.

Candidates working under Central Govt./Semi Govt./Autonomous organization should submit their applications through proper channel i.e. employer. They will be required to submit a ‘No Objection Certificate” from their employer before they are allowed to join the PhD Course.

Candidates who are likely to complete the requisite qualification and degree by 26.01.2024 may also apply. All such candidates must submit a certificate on the letterhead of the College/Universities, signed and stamped by the Registrar/Dean/Principal confirming that the candidate is likely to complete the eligibility qualification by 26.01.2024 (claiming Own Fellowship (OF), proof of which must be submitted before the last date of submission of the online application form).

Candidates who are completing their requisite qualification after 26.01.2024 are not eligible to take this examination. Completing the requisite qualification means that the final result of the qualifying exam must have been declared before the last date specified.

Applicants from AIIMS Faculty/Scientific Staff for PhD registration will be considered in-service candidates as per guidelines laid down by AIIMS in this regard. A candidate is allowed to submit an application for three specialities/departments only.

Eligibility –

Based on the information provided in the online application, candidates are provisionally allowed to appear in the Examination without any scrutiny of eligibility, subject to fulfilment of qualifying criteria and verification of eligibility at a later stage. If anyone is found not fulfilling the prescribed qualification/experience and any other eligibility criteria as mentioned in the Prospectus, at any stage of the process, his/her candidature will be treated as cancelled without any further notice and the seat will be forfeited

Duration of the course -

1. The duration of the course shall be the time period from registration to submission of the thesis. The minimum period of registration in respect of all the candidates who are registered for PhD shall be three years. The maximum period of registration shall not exceed five years. Extension beyond the period of 5 years can be given for a maximum period of 6 months on the recommendation of the Dean Committee and final approval by the Dean/Director.

2. Further extension beyond 5 years & 6 months can only be given by the Academic Committee for a maximum period of 6 months in highly exceptional circumstances (like medical exigencies, natural calamities etc.) and such extension may not be given retrospectively.

3. The Chief guide of the PhD Student shall give a clear reason for the delay to the Academic Committee and must present the case before the Academic Committee.

4. In case of extension beyond 6 years without justifiable reasons and circumstances as mentioned above, the PhD registration of the candidate shall be cancelled.

5. Failure to submit the thesis within the stipulated time period of maximum 5yrs. with extension after approval up to 5½ years (6 years in exceptional circumstances by prior approval of Academic Committee) shall lead to cancellation of PhD registration of the candidate.

Seats Vacant –

A total of 115 seats are vacant for the Program 2024.

Summary of examination pattern –

Method of selection -

Selection for PhD registration will be through a three-stage performance evaluation as under:

STAGES I and II:

Stage-I:30 Marks (30 MCQs of 1 Mark each) Aptitude-related MCQs covering English (Written and verbal skills), Biostatistics, Research Methodology, Cell Biology, Lab Technology etc.

Stage-II:40 Marks (40 MCQs of 1 Mark each) Subject-related theory based comprising Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of MD/MS/MDS/M.Sc. Entrance level.

Total Marks (Stage I + II): 70 (30+40)

Total Duration (Stage I + II): 90 Minutes

Eligibility for Stage III: Candidates must score at least 35 marks in Stages I and II (Combined) to be eligible for Stage III. Candidates who do not fulfil the criteria to qualify for stage III will not be eligible for selection.

Special weightage -

Medical / Dental/ Nursing candidates

10 marks will be added to the total score of Stages I and II for candidates who fulfil both the following criteria:

1. they are eligible for stage III

2. they also hold a Medical Degree (MBBS/ BDS/ MDS/ DNB/ MD/ MS/ DM/ M.Ch.) or M.Sc. (Nursing) or equivalent.

Non-Medical candidates

They are eligible for stage III

They also have qualified in any one of the following National Entrance Tests leading to the award of a fellowship tenable at AIIMS, New Delhi in the last 2 years (January 2022 to last date of application i.e. 26.01.2024) -

Such candidates should apply under the Own Fellowship (OF) category and upload proof of award of the qualifying fellowship in the online form. The fellowships should be tenable at AIIMS, New Delhi

1. The result of the above-listed National Entrance Tests must have been declared between January 2022 and the last date of application i.e. 26.01.2024).

2. The award of the fellowship must be based on the result of the above-listed National Entrance Tests

3. The fellowships should be tenable at AIIMS, New Delhi

4. The letter of award of fellowship must be uploaded with the application form

STAGE III –

After combining the marks of Stages I, II and special weightage (detailed in points 1 and 2 above), three (03) times as many candidates as the number of seats advertised in a department will be called for departmental clinical/practical/lab based assessment (carrying 20 marks). These marks will be added to the marks of stages I + II + special weightage to determine the final total marks.

Final result –

Candidates who secure 50% marks in Stages-I, II (including special weightage) & III Combined (50/100) shall be eligible for admission and shall be included in the final merit list. If a candidate is awarded special weightage marks based on submitted documents that are subsequently found to be ineligible, the special weightage marks awarded will be withdrawn and the final result will be recalculated.

Process of seat allocation -

1. All seats in a department will be clubbed.

2. Candidates will be eligible ONLY for seats in the department that they have applied for.

3. Candidates will be allotted seats in order of their merit in the entrance examination.

4. Candidates WITH their Own Government Fellowship (OF) can select from both OF and Fellowship Available (FA) seats (where they fulfill the eligibility criteria for the seat)

5. Candidates WITHOUT their Own Government Fellowship can select only Fellowship Available (FA) seats (where they fulfill the eligibility criteria for the seat)

6. Candidates who are allotted a seat but do not join or resign after joining will not be eligible for any additional rounds of seat allocation.

Method of Resolving Ties –

The tie cases will be resolved according to age (Date of birth), the older candidate shall get preference over the younger one.

Selected candidates are required to join as per the date given in his/her provisional offer letter. In case the candidate is not granted an extension for joining and fails to join by the date given to him/her in the provisional offer letter, it will be assumed that he/she does not intend to join the course and the seat will be offered to the next candidate on the waiting list. No further correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

Rules for admission for in-service candidates – (non-medical) applicable for AIIMS employees only -

1. The individual should be a regular employee of the Institute (AIIMS New Delhi) and should have rendered a minimum of five years of continuous service at the institute.

2. He/She should fulfil all the eligibility criteria for the PhD course, and will appear in the entrance examination and must score a minimum of 50% marks.

3. The individual should have 5 years of active service remaining in the institute.

4. The candidate should have a proven track record of active involvement in research / academic activities of the department. He/she should possess good written and verbal communication skills in the English language to be certified by the HOD/Chief of the Center.

5. The candidate should have at least 3 original research publications (not case reports) during the last three years immediately preceding the date of his/her application either as a first author or as a communicating author in a peer-reviewed journal.

6. The candidate will be considered as an in-service candidate provided that the Head of the Department should certify that the work of the department will not suffer and no additional staff will be asked for.

The Hostel Security deposit (refundable) i.e. Rs.1000/-.

Fees and other charges including hostel rent once paid shall not be refunded in any case and no correspondence will be entertained in this connection. However, the caution money will be refunded to those candidates who do not join the course. The caution money must be claimed within one year after completion of the course failing which it will be forfeited.

The infrastructure is good but old as AIIMS was established in 1956. However, there is a huge scope of improvement in infrastructure with respect to digitalization, modernized classrooms, and pedagogy mechanisms.

While the overall college structure is good but for optometry department is worst because there is no particular class room, no wet lab for practice , lack of communal area for student collaboration, differentiation in mess facility , no dedicated canteen area, no wifi facility

This year the entrance exam for bsc nursing will be commenced on June 8, 2024.

The minimum cut off to qualify the entrance exam is getting 55 percent marks for general category ,

45 to 50 for obc

30 to 40 for SC and ST category candidates.

Also the candidate must have passed class xii with minimum 50% marks with physics,  chemistry and biology from any reputed university.

The application process for the exam was started on March 5, the last date for applying was April 26, 2024.

is salary of non acacdemic junior resident and academic junior resident is same in AIIMS

Average salary of aiims non academic  junior resident in India ranges between 12 lakh to 15 lakh per annum. Those who are freshers or having experience of one year get 12.5 lpa whereas those who have experience of minimum 3 years get upto 15 lakh .

Now junior academic residents get salary upto 18 lakh per year.

Senior residents if they have three years of experience they get salary of 25 lakh per year and those pg students who have four years of experience get 30 + lpa .

This estimation of salary is based on 21 latest salaries received from various employees of aiims.

The doctors who have passed mbbs and joined directly aiims as a job are cslled called Non academic juniors whereas those who have joined the hospital as post graduate students are called as academic juniors

The candidates who are aiming for AIIMS Delhi must hold a master’s degree in any of the relevant fields that they want to pursue. The M.Sc/MD/MS degree should be from a recognised university or a medical college. 

PhD in AIIMS Delhi- Application Process

The students who are aiming for AIIMS Delhi must refer to the application process mentioned below: 

• First, access the AIIMS New Delhi official website.
• Next, complete the application form by providing all the necessary details.
• After that, upload scanned copies of the required documents and save the information by clicking the save button.
• The application process is considered complete only after the application fee payment.

Finally, make sure to keep a copy of the registered application form for future reference.

PhD in AIIMS Delhi- Admission Process

The admission process for PhD programs at AIIMS Delhi involves candidates needing to secure valid marks in NEET , INI CET, and qualifying exams. AIIMS New Delhi offers a wide range of courses, including eight undergraduate, 46 postgraduate, and 67 doctoral programs, each with varying seat intake. The candidates must follow the admission process mentioned below: 

• To be admitted to the PhD course at AIIMS New Delhi, candidates must fulfil the eligibility criteria.
• After meeting the eligibility requirements, candidates are required to fill out and submit the AIIMS Delhi application form.
• Following that, candidates must appear for a written examination conducted by AIIMS New Delhi. 
• Subsequently, candidates must participate in a personal interview round conducted by the institute.
• Those candidates who successfully pass the interview process will be allocated seats.

For the definitive confirmation of admissions, candidates need to undergo document verification and submit the course fee.

The eligibility criteria for a PhD program at AIIMS require candidates to have specific qualifications. Medical aspirants should hold an MBBS/BDS with a minimum of 50% marks, or MD/MS/MDS/DM/MCh or Diplomate of NBE. Nursing candidates can apply with an M.Sc degree in Nursing speciality, having a minimum of 50% marks.

AIIMS Delhi provides Fellowship in 5 specializations and PhD in 4 specializations. The PhD session commences in February, and the program’s maximum duration is 5 years.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) imposes an age restriction of 31 years for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), but for the National Eligibility Test (NET), there is no upper age limit.

The USC Rossier PhD in Education Program is seeking an instructor to teach Introduction to Quantitative Methods in the Ph.D. Program. Qualified applicants will have a Ph.D. in education or a related field, and extensive knowledge of quantitative methods commonly used in education research. Prior experience teaching quantitative methods at the doctoral level is highly desired. Responsibilities include delivery of course content, scheduling office hours and being accessible to students as appropriate, and grading. Course Description: This course focuses on foundational research skills needed to consume quantitative research, ask critical questions of quantitative research, and design and evaluate quantitative research for the systematic collection and analysis of data to advance equity. The first part of the course introduces research design, including concepts of measurement, sampling, and validity. The second part of the course focuses on analysis of quantitative data, including descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, such as correlations, regressions, and experimental methods for supporting causal inference and replication. Learning Outcomes of Inferential Track By the end of the course, students should be able to: • Generate research questions that are appropriate for quantitative methods • Understand different quantitative designs and when to apply them • Identify appropriate sampling techniques • Explain various threats to validity (construct, internal, external) and how they may or may not apply.

Adjunct Faculty: USC reserves the “Adjunct Faculty” appointment for faculty teaching less than full-time at USC, who are employed full-time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty may teach one class each semester (summer, fall and spring).

The base salary range for this position is $7,280- $9,360 per course. BHU to use UGC, CSIR NET scores for PhD admission 2024; check eligibility criteria

The university has decided not to conduct a research entrance test and announced eligibility criteria. the detailed phd information bulletin 2024 will be released at the official website -- bhu.ac.in..

BHU PhD Admissions 2024: The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has decided to use the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research National Eligibility Test (CSIR NET) 2024 scores for admission to PhD programmes for the 2024-25 academic session.

BHU informed that the detailed PhD information bulletin 2024 will be released at the official website — bhu.ac.in . 

The university announced that no separate research test will be conducted for BHU PhD admissions from this year onwards. Banaras Hindu University advised interested candidates to apply for the UGC NET June 2024 or CSIR NET June 2024 exams to get admission to research programmes. UGC has allowed universities to use NET scores for PhD admissions.

“Based on the public notification dated March 27 of the University Grants Commission, the BHU has decided that the score of the UGC/CSIR NET Examination, June 2024 shall be used for admission to the PhD programme for the upcoming academic session and no separate research entrance test will be conducted by the University,” BHU said in an official notice.

Eligibility Criteria 

— The JRF-qualified candidates will be eligible for consideration under the RET-exempted mode.

— The JRF-qualified candidates as well as the candidates qualified for the categories II and III of the UGC/CSIR NET June 2024 shall be eligible for consideration under the RET mode. 

— For admission to the PhD programme under RET mode in the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, the score of the Agricultural Services Recruitment Board (ASRB) examination 2024 shall be used.

BHU informed that it offers two modes of PhD admissions – Research Entrance Test (RET) mode and Research Entrance Test Exempted (RET-Exempted) mode. Earlier score of NET shall not be valid for PhD admission for the upcoming academic session, BHU said.

Numerous Criminal Justice Alums Accepted to PhD Programs

Lucie Andrews (MET’21), who earned her MSCJ with a concentration in Cybercrime Investigation and Cybersecurity , has been accepted to Nova Southeastern University’s cybersecurity management PhD program.

Anthony Ford (MET’23) was a career-changer when he came to MET to earn his MSCJ with a concentration in Strategic Management , and now he’s off to the University of Georgia to pursue an EdD in learning, leadership, and organizational development.

While she was earning her MSCJ with concentrations in Crime Analysis and Cybercrime Investigation and Cybersecurity, Bo Ra Jung (MET’23) acted as a graduate research assistant to CIC Director Kyung-shick Choi . Her hard work paid off, and now she heads to UNLV where she will pursue her PhD in criminology and criminal justice on a full scholarship.

Michael Ross (MET’23) also earned his MSCJ with a concentration in Cybercrime Investigation and Cybersecurity, and he will now pursue his PhD in criminology and criminal justice at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, with full funding.

Finally, Madeline Uretsky (MET’21), who earned her MSCJ, has been accepted to the University of Connecticut’s clinical psychology PhD program.

Admission Information for the PhD in Christian Leadership

Admission requirements.

• A non-refundable, non-transferable $50 application fee will be posted on the current application upon enrollment (waived for qualifying service members, veterans, and military spouses – documentation verifying military status is required) .
• Send official college transcripts (mailed as sealed, unopened copies or sent via a direct electronic transcript system). A regionally or nationally accredited master’s degree with at least a 3.0 GPA is required for admission in good standing. Previous education should show at least 15 hours of graduate-level Bible, Theology, or Leadership courses.
• Submit the School of Divinity Questionnaire ( login required ).
• Writing Sample – Submit 10 pages from prior academic coursework.
• Departmental approval is required.
• Applicants whose native language is other than English must submit official scores for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or an approved alternative assessment. For information on alternative assessments or TOEFL waivers, please call Admissions or view the official International Admissions policy .

Preliminary Acceptance

If you are sending in a preliminary transcript for acceptance, you must:

• Be in your final term and planning to start your doctoral degree after the last day of class for your master’s degree.
• Complete a Master’s Self-Certification Form confirming your completion date. You may download the form from the Forms and Downloads page or contact an admissions counselor to submit the form on your behalf.
• Submit an official transcript to confirm that you are in your final term. The preliminary transcript must show that you are within 6 credit hours of completion for a 30-48 credit hour master’s degree or within 9 credit hours of completion for a 49+ credit hour master’s degree.
• Send in an additional, final official transcript with a conferral date on it by the end of your first semester of enrollment in the new doctoral degree.

The University of Zurich offers numerous  doctoral degree programs . 

Besides meeting the formal admission requirements , prospective doctoral students must fulfill the relevant academic admission requirements to be admitted to doctoral studies. Whether or not these requirements are met is decided as part of a defined admission procedure . 

Admission constitutes the right to matriculate in the doctoral studies in question at the University of Zurich. Doctoral students must remain matriculated for the full duration of their doctoral studies.

Formal Admission Requirements

Master’s degree diploma from a state-accredited university .

Credits for any transferred coursework must also have been acquired at a state-accredited university.

The diploma itself is state-accredited.

The diploma grants entitlement to pursue doctoral studies at a state-accredited university in the relevant country.

The Master’s degree diploma does not necessarily have to be available at the time of application. If you are admitted, it may be submitted at a later date (by 30 September at the latest for admissions for the Fall Semester, by 15 March at the latest for admissions for the Spring Semester). 

Depending on the doctoral studies in question, admission is also possible with a degree from a university of applied sciences or university of teacher education in a  signatory state to the Lisbon Recognition Convention . Further information can be found on the  website of the faculty concerned .

Academic Admission Requirements

The prospective doctoral student has the academic knowledge and skills required to pursue the doctoral studies in question. Additional requirements and/or conditions (generally in the form of Master’s modules) may be attached to admission in certain cases. Conditions must be met in a preparatory phase within the framework of doctoral studies. No doctoral modules may be booked during this preparatory phase. Additional requirements may be fulfilled during the preparatory phase or in parallel with doctoral modules.

An instructor with the right to award a PhD (generally at the faculty concerned) agrees to be principal supervisor for the planned doctoral thesis. Depending on the doctoral studies in question, further individuals must or may take on a supervisory role, for example as co-advisors. 

Additionally for doctoral programs: The prospective doctoral student is accepted on to the doctoral program in question (following a selective acceptance procedure).

Additionally, depending on the doctoral studies: The prospective doctoral student is employed as a doctoral student, or teaching and research assistant.

Further requirements may have to be fulfilled in certain cases, such as a Master’s degree with a minimum overall grade. 

Details of the academic admission requirements for individual programs of doctoral study can be found on the website of the faculty concerned .

Admission Procedure

The admission procedure begins with the faculty or graduate school concerned. Here, you must: – secure the approval of one or (as appropriate) more supervisor(s) for your planned doctoral thesis, – in the case of doctoral programs, have been accepted on to the program, and – as appropriate, have been offered a position as a doctoral student, or teaching and research assistant. Which of these steps must be completed, and in which order, depends on the doctoral studies in question. Details in this regard can be found on the website of the faculty concerned .

You must also apply to the University of Zurich Admissions Office to pursue your chosen doctoral studies. Before you apply, please find out about the application procedure and documents to be submitted  and apply via the application portal . Please note the relevant  application deadlines . It can take up to three months to process your application. 

If all admission requirements are fulfilled, you will receive the decision on admission from the University of Zurich Admissions Office. You can then matriculate at the University of Zurich and begin your doctoral studies. 

Important Information on the Admission Procedure:

If you have been offered employment for your doctoral studies, and you are a citizen of a state that is a not a member of either the European Union or EFTA , you will need the relevant  visa to enter Switzerland . The University of Zurich will generally apply for this visa on your behalf. Please contact the faculty or graduate school concerned. The visa is issued by the Canton of Zurich Migration Office and is always subject to confirmation of matriculation being submitted within 14 days of entry. You will receive this confirmation of matriculation as soon as you have matriculated at the University of Zurich having received the decision on admission, and paid the bill for the semester fees. Your visa will only be converted into a residence and work permit after the Migration Office has received your confirmation of matriculation. If you are not able to fulfill this condition within the set deadline, you will have to leave Switzerland. 

► Do not travel to Switzerland until you have received the decision on admission from the University of Zurich Admissions Office (i.e. until you are entitled to matriculate) (see point 3 above). 

► Do not begin your doctoral studies until you have matriculated at the University of Zurich, and you hold a residence and work permit. 

To speed up the admission procedure (which may be advisable especially in the case of individuals requiring a visa ), you can submit an application to the Admissions Office (see point 2 above) before the procedure with the faculty or graduate school is complete (see point 1 above). However, the Admissions Office decision on admission (see point 3 above) cannot be issued until confirmation of supervision and, in the case of doctoral programs, the notification of acceptance on to the doctoral program in question have been received.

Students currently matriculated at Master’s level at the University of Zurich must request a change of degree program  to doctoral studies under “My Requests” in the student portal and must not submit an application .

Doctoral study programmes

At ETH Zurich, doctorates are not organised within an overall doctoral study programme in the way that students may be familiar with from other universities. Each doctoral student is free to select and assemble the components of their doctoral studies for him or herself. However, the departments do have the option of organising and offering their range of courses for doctoral studies in the form of doctoral programmes.

The Life Science Zurich Graduate School, for example, offers this kind of programme. There are 16 highly competitive doctoral programmes, run jointly by ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich. The aim is to attract the most promising young scientists from across the world by offering a comprehensive and challenging education for doctoral students in biosciences.
